Most important, no one here will criticize you for smoking.

correction, i will criticize your location if your price of cigarettes is alot cheaper than it is for me.. and welcome to the thread, prepare for a huge number of likes and the like notifications. i went on vacation for a week and had a few hundred likes from these people.

Welcome to our thread, fpkites. Glad to see you decided to post. Everyone's journey is different. And not everyone starts off intending to quit smoking. We all take our own time at working toward our own goals. I did a little struggling in the very beginning but the cravings pretty much are gone for me now. I am almost at 6 months smoke free from 2 pad Marlboros for 46 years. Love vaping though and I would have done this instead of cigarettes those many years ago.

I am using a few different things. I quit using a couple of Vision Spinners 1300mah and evods and primarily dripping into a Joye 510 atty. I bought an MVP2 a couple of months ago and love it. I got a Provari Mini for Christmas and that is my main device now. I will always have my spinners and when my MVP2 dies I bet I get another one (or another Provari). I like my spinners and the simple ritual of dripping juice into an atty. Keeps me busy.

Hang out with us, share your story(s) and ask all the questions you want. If you read that many pages you know how we can get side tracked pretty easy. :D

Jim here, and I think I learned today that it's okay to still want and have an analog from time to time....from reading this thread :)

I intently read the first 130 posts, and if there's a limit on the posts you can click like on per day, I probably hit or exceeded it :D

I went to a vape shop just down the road from my house back on December 8th and got an EVOD VV starter kit (2 EVOD VV batteries and 2 EVOD tanks/attys) and some Rocket Fuel Vapes juice. I finished the carton of Pall Malls I had about a week later. After that, it was pretty much when somebody handed me a cigarette that I smoked it. Sometime in the last couple weeks, I found a Marlboro coupon in my wallet and bought a pack. With vaping, I found I only needed/wanted 2-4 a day.

This past Saturday, I decided I wanted more vapor. Went over to another vape shop and picked up a Protank II and some different juice. I'm still running the same batteries, and just carrying 3 different flavors to suit my mood.

Remember that pack of analogs I was talking about? It lasted almost a week. After 20+ years with only a 2 year quit, that was pretty much the longest I had made a pack last. I picked up another yesterday, and I'm still easily sticking with 2-4 (social) cigs a day down from 1 PAD. My boss is my smoking buddy, and I've given him a coupon to the vape shop that set me up. It's only a matter of time if he really wants it :)

I'm glad to see that there are others like me who may have tried to completely replace smoking with vaping, but realized that it really isn't reasonable "cold turkey" for some people.

Welcome to the nuthouse, Jim!

Only 130 posts? You got some readin' to do! :D

I see no real problem with someone who wants to smoke 1-2 a day. I myself had a very long row to hoe in this journey (as have others)--I know I have said it before, but I really think I am finally over the need, and even the (real) want to have any. I still get the thought that I want one, but now after having been there and done that, I can safely say that I really don't want one. I'll dislike the taste, and even the feeling smoking now gives me. But, that's me--I live with a smoker, and in the 9 months that I've been vaping, he has tried to like it and vaping really isn't for him. I see no signs that he's interested in quitting. To each, his/her own.

What's funny is that I never started vaping with the intention to quit. I could never even imagine myself as a non-smoker, that's how much smoking was tied to my identity. When I did quit, it was more of a self-challenge to stay that way. When I couldn't, I felt like I was letting myself down. So then quitting permanently became a goal. I think I made it. But I certainly don't begrudge anyone who wants to smoke, or smoke occasionally.

Do roll your own, it will save you a fortune!!!!!!!!! You can buy it online or in many tobacco stores, there is a machine priced around $40, bag of Tobacco anywhere from $18.00 to $28.00 depending on quality (online is cheaper) and the tubes a box of 200 is around $3.50-$5.00 depending again on quality of the paper.

! bag of tobacco equals 2 and half cartons cigs and each box of tubes is a carton.

now you can smoke cheap!

When I smoked all those years, I was a Marlboro smoker. If my store did not have my cigarettes I would leave and go to another store for MY brand. I could not smoke the menthols either. I do not know if I was stubborn or strange. Probably both.

The other brands really tasted very different to me. And I did not like the taste. Basics I could smoke once in a while. The roll your own tasted strong to me. How funny that I remember that now. I was as fussy a smoker as I am a vaper. I am fussy. Oh no.

I used to consider someone as not a "real smoker" if they could bounce around with brands and smoke whatever. I could never smoke someone else's cigarettes. I also made sure I NEVER ran out so I would never have to bum any from anyone. Camels--that was "it" for me. Nothing else would do.

Oh, and I'm a picky vaper as well.

I was a fussy smoker, than I got poor, I didn't have a choice (except to quit, what?????????????????

Anyway I learned I had to make do, but every now and then, I sneak and get a pack of Marlboro 100's gold, or if I can't swing that, Misty blue 120's, Oh my, I do like them. I am horrible. LOL

Hey remember, I was the one vaping Chinese juices, I still have them and use them. I don't love them (like RYO) but you learn to make do

Heh. I'd forgotten this thread existed until someone "liked" my post. Some of you may vaguely recall me from the first page of this thread. "a success story."

Well, I have a confession to make. I fell off the no smoking wagon, lost my ProVari for a month (it was in the couch cushions) and picked up smoking a pack a day again. I realized I was being stupid, started vaping WTA more, switched to those chemical free Natural American Spirit cigs and have cut myself back down to 2 or 3 cigs a day. I'll probably quit again by the end of the week, but I figured I'd confess all my sins while this thread was fresh in my mind.

Welcome!

As others have said here, this thread is one of the best ECF has to offer cause people here aren't into shaming you if you don't quit smoking. Plus, you'll get likes galore just for participating here.

As Karen mentioned, I am one who still smokes and do so cause I enjoy it. I strongly prefer vaping and truly believe I could quit smoking at any time, but really like being a moderate smoker. I'm just over 2 years into vaping, and have had phases where I'd go as high as half a pack in a day, though for the longest time I was averaging 2 to 4 a day. Now, I lose track pretty easily on when is the last day I smoked. I think I bought a pack before New Year's and I think I've had 3 from there, maybe 2 and half. I usually prefer to smoke a half at a time.

I also usually will smoke with friends who smoke, and in winter time that goes way down. I remember in early 2013 I went a whole 4 days without smoking and thought it was really cool. Since Thanksgiving of 2013, I pretty much do that every week.

One thing I've noticed, which you touched upon, is I couldn't smoke a full pack nowadays even if I wanted to. I'd have to stop vaping for that to happen and as I said before, I strongly prefer vaping. I also give myself full permission to smoke which I think actually makes it easier to not smoke, at least over the medium to long term. I notice if I shame myself for having one (or more), then there's that part of me that can't wait to sabotage things and give into cravings. Thing is, I really don't have cravings anymore, so nowadays giving myself full permission is just really a relaxing way to go about things.

Anyways, best wishes to you on your own vaping path. Feel free to ask questions here about anything vaping related as folks here know a whole heckuvalot. Plus we are awesome with support on pretty much any subject and there is at least one of us always around.

Cheers!
Jman

Welcome, Jim. I hope to see you around here a lot. We all came to be here for the same reasons...we're smokers who vape and/or vapers who smoke. I'm on my third go round with vaping to try to quit smoking. The first 2 tries didn't work for me, obviously, but this time it's been different. After smoking for over 42 years at 3+ packs a day I've been able to remain smoke free for over six months now. I couldn't have done it without the support of the wonderful people in this thread.

Whether your intent is to quit smoking altogether or to cut down on the number if cigs you smoke, it doesn't matter to us. As long as you're happy with what you're doing we're happy for you. We don't judge...we've all been there or are still there. We get it. Stick around and get to know us. We all have different experiences and various insights to help you on your journey, whatever that may be. We help each other and have fun, too. Come on in, you'll love it!

NO, NO , not insensitive at all, I felt the same way for a long time, and I would vape that way too if I had a choice. I am still that way with certain things. I won't eat anything I hate, examples, corn beef hash, spam, hamburger helper. I make it for everyone else, but I can't eat it. I wasn't brought up eating it and it isn't something I can stomach. I'll eat bread and butter first and I hate white bread, prefer bakery bread, found I'd rather not eat it. I do Rye usually.

I was a purse snob and shopaholic , I will wear my old Coach, Dooney and MJ bags before I would buy something cheap just to have something new, luckily I have so many I can wear them the next 10-15 years no problem, plus since I hardly go out, they don't really have much wear and tear.

Hi, glad to see you found us here. I have seen you around a few other threads and enjoy your posts. Nah. Don't call them sins. There are enough other things that I would throw in that category. Maybe a 'side trip' would be a better term for me. I do not think you smoking for a while is a bad thing. Now that you are back to vaping you are making the conscious decision that vaping is what you want to do rather than continue smoking at the rate you were.

Isn't it amazing how quickly you can get back up to large numbers of cigarettes. I quit once before for 6 months several years ago. I was only going to smoke a couple of cigarettes a day. By the end of the first week I was up to a pack a day. Within 3 weeks or so I was pushing 2 packs a day. I did that for 3 years before I started vaping.

I know I can not get away with smoking 1 or 2 cigarettes here and there. I would go right back up to my obsessive 2 pad. I do envy those people who can though.

Happy to hear you found your Provari. I always said to check the couch cushions. I have found the tv remote a few times and several times almost enough change to buy cigarettes. Never know what you may find.

My couch has a black hole that leads to my drier (doesn't work) and childs closet. Found half of a Motorola razr flip phone (still worked when found but not after immediately dropped into a puddle) and a wallet of someone who has never been to my house (no clue how that happened unless it was last owners friend, messaged the person on Facebook who said keep it since everything was replaced after 5 years of being lost).

Yea, that says a lot. I think there's something in the background for all the trolls out there. This is what makes them feel alive I guess. It's sad.

BTW I got around to trying WholeCig's American Net and WHOA! It is stellar. I'm not a tobacco vaper, but it is really very good. The other upside is NO COUGHING. It is a very, very comfortable vape. I'm in luv.

I haven't said anything but I've been battling resperatory distress again. I'm ....... No one's looking for answers. They think it's fine to be in the er every night for 9-12 hours I guess. I'm kinda beyond words at the moment.

My insurance had a block on me getting a mammogram for the last 5 years. Explain that. Chances are there's a block against asthma too. That's the only reason I can think of for it to suddenly disappear after 50+ years. I'm livid.

I'm so glad you mention that you've tried the new Wholecig American ... I've been looking at that one for the last week or so, debating on if I should try it. Can you tell me if it has that "green" (kind of grassy) flavor that some NET's have? Also, how strong is the flavor? I'd have to dilute it with PG/nic as I can't do 100% VG.

So sorry to hear you've been battling that again ...I'm sending healing thoughts your way. Is there a way for you to find out a list of what your insurance has a block on? That is crazy that they can do that. And the mammogram one most likely violates the preventative woman's care law.

Date says 6/2008 not sure why, I had no charge in the camera. think it went back to when I got it? I have to play with the camera to see how to fix that. I don't even think I had the camera yet in 2008. Very weird.

The display is red, I expected that, I will need to see if I think I need to get the extra cap for the 18490 extension. I doubt I will buy it, but you never know. I have more batteries in the 18350 size.
