Good Morning!

61PQiPDoW7L._SY300_.jpg

I got some really good news!
wee.gif
My daughter and son-in-law have started vaping!!!
wee.gif

I've been urging my daughter for awhile to try it, and she was willing, just hadn't gotten around to it. Well, the son-in-law picked up a couple of Blu kits for them the other day. Would not have been my first choice - I like cig-a-likes but I used the Blu when it first came out and I was not impressed-- but it's done the job to make them both want to take it a step further.
wee.gif
At their request I did up a crash course email on vaping/equipment/liquids for them last night, and I'll be curious to see what they decide to try next.

Now, I just need to get on the ball and stop with these last few cigs a day I'm still smoking. Sigh. I've been fluctuating anywhere between no cigs a day up to a pack a day.

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome! I'm really glad I found ECF. There's a wealth of information, and some really great people. Even when the same old question is asked over and over, it's answered clearly and concisely. I help moderate one of the largest offroad forums in the US, and I know how repeat questions and their responses can get out of hand. I don't see that here.

How's that Rocket Fuel juice?

It's not too bad, moderately priced, but a bit high on PG at 70%. I found that I like a 50/50 mix better. I picked up some Halo juice and some Vaporleaf juice when I learned I wanted something other than tobacco flavors (I figured that out pretty fast actually, contrary to what I first thought I "needed").

correction, i will criticize your location if your price of cigarettes is alot cheaper than it is for me.. and welcome to the thread, prepare for a huge number of likes and the like notifications. i went on vacation for a week and had a few hundred likes from these people.

Pall Mall is around $4 a pack here in Denver - criticism time? :p

Welcome to the nuthouse, Jim!

Only 130 posts? You got some readin' to do! :D

I'll get right on that! :D

Welcome!

As others have said here, this thread is one of the best ECF has to offer cause people here aren't into shaming you if you don't quit smoking. Plus, you'll get likes galore just for participating here.

One thing I've noticed, which you touched upon, is I couldn't smoke a full pack nowadays even if I wanted to. I'd have to stop vaping for that to happen and as I said before, I strongly prefer vaping. I also give myself full permission to smoke which I think actually makes it easier to not smoke, at least over the medium to long term. I notice if I shame myself for having one (or more), then there's that part of me that can't wait to sabotage things and give into cravings. Thing is, I really don't have cravings anymore, so nowadays giving myself full permission is just really a relaxing way to go about things.

Anyways, best wishes to you on your own vaping path. Feel free to ask questions here about anything vaping related as folks here know a whole heckuvalot. Plus we are awesome with support on pretty much any subject and there is at least one of us always around.

Cheers!
Jman

I like that a lot! I did find that I was cursing myself a bit when I was having a rough day at work and stealth vape just wasn't cutting it, so I bought that first pack. Quitting doesn't have to be cold turkey, and I've found vaping helps a ton with that. You don't have to cut out the other activities and environments when you smoked full time, just swap an analog for a PV.

Again, thank you for the warm welcome, and I look forward to hanging out here for a long time.

Jim

I was a fussy smoker, than I got poor, I didn't have a choice (except to quit, what?????????????????

Anyway I learned I had to make do, but every now and then, I sneak and get a pack of Marlboro 100's gold, or if I can't swing that, Misty blue 120's, Oh my, I do like them. I am horrible. LOL

Hey remember, I was the one vaping Chinese juices, I still have them and use them. I don't love them (like RYO) but you learn to make do
Karen,

I went much the same path. From Marlboros to generics to RYO. Still do the RYO a couple times a day.

And there's actually some Chinese juices that have become staples here (between me, daughter, and son-in-law) - HangSen Juicy Peach is a heavy favorite, and Liqua Strawberry and Berry Mix are also very good. (Either of those liqua flavors, with just a dash of Deadly Sin is a great "fruit danish" blend!). Most of the other chinese juices haven't done it for us.

Jman,

You hit that right on the head, at least for me. I tell myself "You always have a choice - vape or smoke" and I choose to vape almost all the time.

On the other hand, whenever I told myself "OK, that's your last cigarette" it would get me constantly craving another one.

Those are really cool, the top one is called The Tumbler and a lot of people really love it, I believe it may take PT heads. I almost got one a few months back but was told if I didn't care for the PT I probably wouldn't like it either, I'm kinda glad I didn't get it now cause I'm becoming a dripper. :)
The second one is a mini dripper, I think it is really cute.

I haven't made a coil yet but I am rewicking my Trident clone with organic cotton, just pinch off a little piece from the ball and twist it into a wick and thread through the coil like threading a needle. I'm completely baffled by TD's description of threading wire through a hole though, is the hole you are talking about in the post?

My choice for dripping comes from the clean clear taste you get, the clearos were cooking the juice and I really don't care for what that does to the taste. The Aspire ET-S doesn't cook the juice like the other tanks I used and I plan on continuing to use them for out and about, the flavor is almost as good as dripping. I also just found a video showing how to rebuild the Aspire heads just like you do the PT heads so I will probably give that a go before long.

My initial foray into dripping comes from my preparation for the vapocolypse, being able to build coils and having rebuildable attys makes me feel more secure, enjoying the taste is a bonus. :)

That Vision Eternity that I won at GotVapes has become one of my favorite attys, I am using it exclusively as a dripper not a tank and really loving it, it is also rebuildable. PBusardo has a video review of it, I do not find muted flavor that he mentions, well maybe at first until the wicks broke in, and the gurgling he mentions is quickly and easily remedied.

I don't know a lot about building coils and wicking but I am learning that now and can find the answer to any question I don't know pretty quickly and easily.

Hey Karen, glad that you're over it. Not worth it.

Shari, that sounds like a real PITA. I'm not sure I would be able to handle the stress of that. I hope the insurance steps up and makes it right.

Right before Christmas I bought a mini-RDA and coils, and 2 new clearos from FT. Shipped on the 27th, arrived yesterday! :D

Aik, I saw you post a question on the clearos--I got one in purple and one in blue:

The tank is relatively thick plastic, I would compare it to something like what they use for the eRoll cartridges. Don't know if it's PC or not, but it's not thin like in most clearos. Bigger than I thought, but look nice on my spinner and iTaste.

Here's my dripper--it's soooo tiny!

I got a pretty purple marbled vase shaped acrylic drip tip for it that works awesome! The iTaste ohm reader says the prebuilt coil is 1.7 ohms, and I'm vaping at 7.5 watts. Loving it!! It has a flat deck, so if anyone who's familiar with RDA's wants to chime in I have some questions about wicking when I'm ready to start building.

I am assuming that your Tumbler from FT is a clone, but the original it was cloned from is made by Smok so I'd bet money it uses the heads you are talking about. :)

While I haven't actually made a coil yet I do have all the stuff to do so and have been reading, watchin, talking about, all of that for a few weeks. I have adjusted the coils in the Trident and rewicked them and am pretty sure it's going to be very easy to do when the time comes. The only reason I haven't made any yet is because the ones in it are working great and I think the wire is easier to keep track of on it's spool rather than in the form of itty bitty coils. lol

I hope your back to normal soon...not having your home feeling like "home" would be very hard for me, and worrying about additional damage as things sit waiting to be repaired would stress me to no end.

I liked the clearos because of their shape--sort of '60's/70's retro. I like bubbles--I have a ceiling fan with round and oval blades, looks like something from the Jetsons. :p

The heads look like Smok heads. I just got an Aro and the head looks exactly like that. Similar to protanks and evods but the chimney is longer.

Re: the rebuilding--I will need a magnifying glass and some very small pliers to get the wires into the holes. Thankfully, there was a coil and wick already installed! The body of the piece is about 1" tall and about 1/2 to 3/4" wide. Teeny! And the posts are even teenier. I guess though that once I get comfortable rebuilding these, doing something like an RSST or Kayfun will be cake.

ETA: Oh! It has a name? BF will laugh at that one...."squid"...lol. FT just called it a miniature RDA. I liked the color. If I knew it was so small I might not have bought it.

That was the one I mentioned a little while back that I almost got but chickened out. I decided to go for it this time. Glad I did! I have it on my iTaste and it really makes big clouds!

That looks really nice Karen. :)
The date on the camera is probably the manufacturer's date. I don't see the dust but I sure see it around my house and I have no excuse. :)

View attachment 293260

Date says 6/2008 not sure why, I had no charge in the camera. think it went back to when I got it? I have to play with the camera to see how to fix that. I don't even think I had the camera yet in 2008. Very weird.

The display is red, I expected that, I will need to see if I think I need to get the extra cap for the 18490 extension. I doubt I will buy it, but you never know. I have more batteries in the 18350 size.

Hi Jim and welcome. my initial plan was to do what you and others are doing but it got sidelined. After a few weeks the cigs began to taste so nasty to me I just quit, I'm not saying it was easy but I'm much happier now. :)

I don't have ANY willpower at all and I live with a smoker so the cigs are always available, but neither of us had smoked in the house for 10 years. The only thing I can say about me quitting is that apparently I was just ready because I've tried and tried and tried and never could do it until I started vaping. When and If you are ready to quit you will, until then at least you are reducing your risk by cutting way down. :)

Jim here, and I think I learned today that it's okay to still want and have an analog from time to time....from reading this thread :)

I intently read the first 130 posts, and if there's a limit on the posts you can click like on per day, I probably hit or exceeded it :D

I went to a vape shop just down the road from my house back on December 8th and got an EVOD VV starter kit (2 EVOD VV batteries and 2 EVOD tanks/attys) and some Rocket Fuel Vapes juice. I finished the carton of Pall Malls I had about a week later. After that, it was pretty much when somebody handed me a cigarette that I smoked it. Sometime in the last couple weeks, I found a Marlboro coupon in my wallet and bought a pack. With vaping, I found I only needed/wanted 2-4 a day.

This past Saturday, I decided I wanted more vapor. Went over to another vape shop and picked up a Protank II and some different juice. I'm still running the same batteries, and just carrying 3 different flavors to suit my mood.

Remember that pack of analogs I was talking about? It lasted almost a week. After 20+ years with only a 2 year quit, that was pretty much the longest I had made a pack last. I picked up another yesterday, and I'm still easily sticking with 2-4 (social) cigs a day down from 1 PAD. My boss is my smoking buddy, and I've given him a coupon to the vape shop that set me up. It's only a matter of time if he really wants it :)

I'm glad to see that there are others like me who may have tried to completely replace smoking with vaping, but realized that it really isn't reasonable "cold turkey" for some people.

I'm so glad you mention that you've tried the new Wholecig American ... I've been looking at that one for the last week or so, debating on if I should try it. Can you tell me if it has that "green" (kind of grassy) flavor that some NET's have? Also, how strong is the flavor? I'd have to dilute it with PG/nic as I can't do 100% VG.

No grassy flavor. I hate vaping hay. I'm also not a fan of muddy, moldy dirt like cavedish. I'm not a big fan of "in your face flavors" since those are the ones that send me into coughing fits. I can vape like they do on videos with this. That's very rare. If you need to cut it with PG, I'd use another flavor to cut it with. I don't think you'd want to dilute this. My first thought would be Red Tail's Tobacco Road WTA but that's a lot more dry (to me). I think anything tastes good with Dark Honey Tobacco. Anyway, that's how my tastes run in tobacco's.

One of the most noticable is the distinct ASHY exhale. It's kinda cool, in a guilty sorta way. Feels almost sinful.

The block is definatley illegal but so what if there's no enforcement. Even if there was, do you honestly think they'd get more than a slap on the wrist and it'll reappear in a month? There is an entire ruling corporate class that is above the law. They buy and write the laws. But we need monitoring because we could be terrorists. Just watch. The great wall of Mexico is more about keeping us in - too many ppl getting medical there.

Back to the practical, I don't see a lot. Next month is the 11th month and I bet the hospital clinic I've been going to is going to get a bill asking for a refund (it's happened before). It's too late for an appeal by either one of us because clean claim status needs to be acheived within 6 months or no payment. That's not illegal for them to do. I have a choice, pay up or find new doctors again. Legally, I don't have to pay up either however that's a grey area because again, there's no enforcement if they do deciede to go after the bill. Laws mean nothing. Enforcement is everything. Anyone know someone connected to the Mafia? Then I might get a medical dx.

I ordered some tumblers, they are on the slow boat from China. I verified with some locals that they take Protank "universal coils". Ok. Do you know how many variations I have of Kanger universal coils now? At least 4 and I don't have the latest yet (coop on order). All genuine Kanger protank coils are not alike.

I ordered a spinner and 4 little cute pretty egos. Stateside the spinner alone would be $30 and the egos would be at least $80 +. From FT the whole thing < $30 except one detail, they aren't shipping batteries even within devices anymore. Oh crap = the slow boat.

Now that doesn't make a lot of sense since most electronics come from there; laptops, cellphones, mp3 players, tablets that are all shipped with batteries inside. I've heard some ppl say it's a FT thing and no it's not. FT is more transparent than others. Go to Health Cabin and they ship DHL only. $30 shipping for a $5 battery. The situation smells. Handwriting on the wall is a shortage of what most newbies get started vaping with.

I can't imagine getting into rebuilding. I had 3 real pretty set ups in my cart, begging to come to me. I love that new little foldable pipe, k100's and there's a new gold/stainless 18350 mech <3. And of course, the reason for the mech is the dripper that goes on top (minus that CUTE, to die for pipe). However that much fiddly is too much right now.

Actually, this morning I'm ready to sell as much as possible for another provari just because it's a no brainer and nothing goes wrong with it, but if it did I can get it fixed. I'm having mini Zmax issues and I get attached to my mods. I'd pay more to have it fixed than when I bought it new. I don't want a roller coaster of mods.

I'm spitting nails over here

I placed a large order of towels last week - they (JCPenney) had some higher end towels that were on sale and with the promotional sales code they ended up being nearly half-price. Yay! The order arrived yesterday - 1st thing - one flap had opened and had been taped shut, presumably by UPS.

Open box - 4 hand towels and 2 wash cloths are MIA. You'd have thought, with UPS being literally around the corner from me, that the driver would have seen the towels - remembered the open, re-taped box, and checked....nope....

Contacted Penneys by email so I could list the item numbers and colors....they emailed me that they will credit my charge for the missing items and if I would like, they will reprocess those items USING THE SAME CHARGE information. Excuse me? You want to credit my account for the missing items and charge me TWICE AS MUCH for the replacements? I reminded them that that is hardly equitable to ME, their customer and if they have a claim with UPS that's between Penneys and UPS ~not me! We'll see what happens now......

I am going to reorder in March (next time I should have excess cash) three-four flavors from China, Hangsen RY4, Dekang DK-Tab, Hangsen coffee, Hangsen 555

Glad to see you! How's the wrists??? Looks like you are doing great!

Foldable pipe? Where? Fastech?

Oh yea. FT is stepping up their game on quite a few things lately. Definatley not slacking off over there.

Found 5 Pipe Style Telescopic Mechanical Mod Kit at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

The first reviews are just coming in. I think the black version has the most right now. It works in the folded position too and accepts PT2 mini's. Sleek looking stealth vape IMO.

Number 2 best thread on ECF is http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...show-us-your-girly-pretty-decorated-pink.html

FT also has a very interesting FT Porn thread, full of pics. It's amazing what works with what. Anything but another boring tube.

I can post pics again. Yeah!

Karen, get the Liqua Coffee and Liqua Tiramisu are really good. I have had them both, the coffee is better than the Tiramisu but both good, better than the Hangsen or Dekang. Reviews support this. Fasttech has them for just a little more than the cost of the others.
