Hi all. Long day today. The insurance adjuster came out and spent about 2 hours going through the upstairs and downstairs and measuring everything. He agrees that the hardwood needs to be replaced in the kitchen, but not the dining room. How are we supposed to match that? The dining room is part of the same room and run of hardwood. He is allowing for 1/2 of the ceiling downstairs to be replaced unless more damage is discovered after ceiling is removed.
Here is the funny one. Our living room is 20ft by 20 ft, carpeted (10 yr old). He is allowing for an 8ft by 10ft piece to be cut out and replaced and then all carpet cleaned. He is out of his mind. Nothing will match and that is unacceptable. I guess he will figure $ amount of an 8 x 10 ft piece of carpet and give us that. No happy with that one.
But he does say new kitchen island necessary and repair for stove and dishwasher. Not sure on that. We will not detailed report with line items on it for at least a week. This is going to be a major PITA. He did tell us that our policy will allow us to get a hotel room if house is unliveable for a time because of construction. We will see.
I get to go shopping for new kitchen island!!! Yeah! And I am getting granite on it whether hubby accepts it or not right now. I told him I love him and will be nice to him and say yes dear for a few weeks if I get my granite. Time for cake.
Gonna be a lot of baking goin on around here. Wait til he sees my list of what I want. I already told him no carpet but hardwood in living room too. This is going to be a hard sell. More cake.....
