If I could stand to eat the same thing every day, I would eat lettuce and tomato and chicken. even the tomato is sketchy they can cause, kidney stones, don't know if too much chicken would cause the gout to flare up. I just know , I can't do it, eat the same thing over and over, its like vaping the same thing, how did we smoke the same thing over and over again???????

Humans are so funny, animals eat the same thing all the time. they don't need to change, are we too smart for our own good. My roommate's brother, only eats raw food, says he will live to 120 yrs old at least, he better he's 60, his girlfriend is 27 years old.

Aik, the veggies you posted on FB looked fantastic! We don't get produce that looks like that here, or its a fortune in some expensive wholefoods type store.

I would have guessed that Florida would be a produce heaven. We get most of ours from Mexico and your closer than NY. It's almost necessary to have a garden anymore. I use Bountiful Baskets. That's kinda spooky when fresh veggies aren't available.

If I priced out all those veggies I'd pay $60 in the store. BB they are $15. Ever consider opening a site? Someone needs to.

All I know is that the site said my cookies weren't enabled and I had to enable them in order to purchase anything. I had one other site that gave me the same problem. I attempted to order anyway and wasn't able to.

Karen, I would think the fruits and veggies in Florida would be fresher and cheaper since they can grow that stuff pretty much all year round and not have to have it shipped in. Who knew? :p

That's what I thought. I did find gorgeous produce at a fancy whole foods type shop, it was very expensive. Not in my budget of course.
Thaya if you decide you want an MVP, you can get it for a decent price from ITC he has them. Just under $40.

I see you are going to bed, good night and sweet dreams!!!!!!!

It's funny, I love veggies, prefer fresh over anything else, I can even do canned but its for bulk(fiber) rather than nutrition.
If you can get fresh veggies here at the supermarket they are just ok, the fancy stores have the best quality. the flea market gets good fruit, just ok veggies. I think the best fruit and veggies get shipped out of state to higher paying markets

I fed fresh fruit and veggies to the birds. That broke down a lot of barriers for me about what produce looks like. We'd get "B" cartons for about 90% off at the wholesale market (think 4 am at the railroad tracks in the worst part of town). 25 lbs of apples or sweet potatoes would be $5. Another friend made buddies with the produce manager and he'd bring home loads for her birds. This is going to sound gross but I know someone else that goes dumpster diving because so much is thrown out. There's a movie about that called "Dive". It really is too much thrown away.

I have a place where I can go and make a deal, the problem is getting someone to go at the time of day he wants to do it. I think I will call him, I need citrus fruits and he has a great deal for me on them. I love above all else grapefruit juice in the am , call me crazy it's my favorite. I have a breville citrus juicer that does all the work, I got it at a great price on amazon it was refurbished but you would never know it.

If I was healthier, i would be working and this would all be a nightmare but I don't think I could dumpster dive, I would eat the lessor quality at a discount. I think I saw parts of the movie or something similar a few years ago.

See if your nephew will start a BB site. They always fill up fast. I would look for a nonprofit and I'm not sure Gaballi is. It's also more expensive. Florida's the land of citrus! I know there was a virus but there still should be plenty of citrus. I have 5 grapefruit trees - better than store bought if I could afford the shipping I'd send you 600 lbs a year. There's gleaning programs here and can't get rid of them. Just don't get ripped off.

My best banana plants came from a garden buddy in Florida. She got pups for $5 each at Home Depot. They didn't sell them here. The red fingerlings are good. They are a grass and grow fast. I know Fl also has sapotes. Lots of tropicals.

There's a virus and Fl is replacing citrus. Check gardenweb.com go to the forums. often you'll find someone culling their yard and they'll give plants free. Citrus takes years before getting the first fruit and there's better out there. Your cooling bill will decrease and plants increase oxegyn too.

Have you tried using higher VG? For me that gives a thicker, "coat your tongue" sensation that makes a lot of flavors taste "creamier". However I've also had little success getting a satisfactory fruit+cream vape..... Closest to what I was looking for was a dash of Deadly Sin in a fruit like strawberry (Should try that with Juicy Peach....) - DS isn't a cream, but it's the closest so far to what I was seeking.....
someone just gave me an idea last night about the peaches n cream lol

I am going to wait to see what their line item estimate is. That I will not have for about another week. The adjuster was here Tuesday so he is taking his dear sweet time with it. Of course, they want us to start ripping the ceilings and walls out right now to mitigate any further possible damage. What I should do is start ripping out the ceilings and walls now, so I can not use the kitchen and have them put me up in a hotel room for a much longer period of time. But that is not the dollars I want to see out of this and DH and I would kill each other being that long in a tiny room. I can probably not have to spend any time in a hotel, as long as there is no mold found. I will not stay in the house if mold has set in. Gotta love insurance. Can not wait to see the estimate. Should be interesting. Bet it will not give me a new sink and faucet or full hardwood and carpet allowance. Bet they want me to get the cheapest materials too. This is an expensive house and does not have bargain basement materials. We will see what they allow. I am doing brain/mental exercises to try to prepare for the negotiation/fight stage. I am way out of practice on that front. Never had a homeowners claim before. And this is a big one. I know they are going to nickel and dime us to death.

Stay tough, Shari. That line about "depreciation" is BS. Depreciation is NOT the same thing as a hold-back.. Sounds like they're trying to screw you over, get you to accept a 60% payment instead of the full thing.

It was the same way in Cal when I lived there, the rational at the time was that the best produce was shipped out to other places and the locals got what was left over. I'm not completely sure I believe that though cause I see the produce here, one of the places it gets shipped to, and it's pretty pitiful. I will say that Cal was way way better than here, they charge premium price for produce here that would be thrown out in Cal, and should be thrown out here. Over ripe, rotten spots, you name it, it's really bad.

I know, I am supposed to vary my food pretty significantly because the diabetes diet and the gout diet are very different in many ways. I am supposed to eat a little more fish(expensive, even tuna,ok, I can't eat the chunk, it makes me sick) low carb and low fat, low protein, low salt no sugar, not much left!

Food bank is where you get all carbs, great for his mother not for us. We do go there to get staple foods that I am not supposed to eat but I do.

Fruits and Veggies in FLorida equal pretty darn expensive, My sister from NY couldn't believe the price difference on food here. and the quality isn't as nice as other areas for some reason. I noticed that my sisters fruit and veggies in NY were much nicer,

Actually, Karen, from what I've seen of both diet plans, they can be put together quite nicely. Both diets concentrate on whole grains (breads and pasta), fruit and vegetables, and a reasonable amount of protein (up to 6 ounces of meat, fish and poultry) per day.

The problem lies in having available funds to maintain the healthy lifestyle. I'm working part-time, so it's easier for me. I watch my prices carefully, and stock up when there are good sales. It's much harder when one has to rely on a food bank to eat.

There is a program where I live that is similar to Bountiful Baskets, called the Good Food Box. It's all locally grown produce, available once a month, and you get a LOT of good produce for very little.
