Yup. Plaintain. They are easy to grow, just like bananas are. There's a couple of bananas that are good fruiting houseplants too. Very exotic looking flowers. There's a number of things; onions, garlic, celery, yams, that you can just keep replainting the roots over and over again and never need to buy. That's the value of living in a temperate climate.

My nephew gave me his MVP today, I gave him a couple of protank heads, 2 fasttech clone t3's and 2 adaptors 510- ego. that's what he wanted. Not fair trade to him but he wouldn't take anything else, wants to get a more stealthy vape, I even offered the Itaste VV V3 I have but he knows I love it and won't take it.

I really like it, it felt funny to hold at first, I have to get used to it. Hits nice and smooth.

Awesome! I hope you like the MVP as much as I like mine!!!!!!

It's funny, I love veggies, prefer fresh over anything else, I can even do canned but its for bulk(fiber) rather than nutrition.
If you can get fresh veggies here at the supermarket they are just ok, the fancy stores have the best quality. the flea market gets good fruit, just ok veggies. I think the best fruit and veggies get shipped out of state to higher paying markets

I was in SF one time, and we came across a fairly large "farmer's market". Needed a smoke, so I went down the block, and found an alley chock full of fruit and veggie boxes (waiting for trash pickup!). So most of that "farm-fresh" produce was just purchased from food wholesalers! (I think; I would presume a farmer wouldn't pack his crop into those crates just to haul it to the farmer's market? I could be wrong....)

I wouldn't be surprised. I do know some CSA's (independently owned farms) are fairly large operations. I looked into joining one (a subscription service) but it's too expensive for me. Some of them do show up at farmers markets in addition to their subscriptions and then it's not from wholesalers. They really are family farms. I miss my house. I was real big on edible landscaping. Why waste time and money on anything else? It seemed stupid.

I guess the point of all this was to look for native foods, which in Fl might be cuban or puerto rican, caribbean. Here it's mexican (which I don't like), in the NW it was asian. Ethnic foods are usually cheaper and healthier than traditional US meat and potatoes. It probably is not possible for a human to survive for long on convienence foods. I'm pretty sure there won't be a study on that anytime soon though.

Deadly Sin is supposed to be a combo of tobacco and cinnamon roll. I'm sure there are other things also, but you could give that combo a try.

Thaya,

You are so totally messing with my head!

I've loved DS ever since I first tried it, and everyone I have "converted" likes it. (Extremely high hit rate for a juice, IMHO). The taste varies a lot depending on the voltage, but it's tasty across a large range and always leaves them (and me) scratching their head, "What is that?".

Since it was one of my first juices, maybe I didn't notice the tobacco?

So I splurged (grabbed a brand-new head) and the bottle of DS. Possibly power of suggestion, but it smells like tobacco and butterscotch. And now I taste tobacco in it. And more butterscotch than I used to, but still that same complex flavor... it really is very hard to pin down, but I still love it.

But damn, from now on I'm always going to be looking for tobacco flavor in it! I blame you!!! ;-)

I've been surprised by what dollar stores offer too. I didn't realize that some carried fresh veggies until recently. I can also assure you that Az does not have upper demographics. The income levels here place the state in the lower 1/4th nationally. So I don't know why there is such a differential in the availability of produce. I do know that Mexican markets are superb for fresh however that means I have to get used to grey squash, cherimoyas and mangos rather than typical northern pit fruits and veggies.

Maybe there some cuban markets? I can't remember the name all of a sudden, they look like big bananas but taste more like potatoes. A cuban friend would fry them up all the time. Yum.

Alkane,

I think you're talking about plantains. (Look exactly like big bananas). I love them, except that they tend to cook up a bit tough (mostly because I expect them to have the same texture as bananas!) The other thing is that a) you never eat them raw, and b) although you can cook with them while they're green, they really don't get ripe (sweet) until they turn REALLY brown. If it were a banana you'd throw it in the trash, but that's exactly when a plantain hits it's "Sweet 16"!

Well, at least I know I am not crazy, seems that it isn't just here in my area. It was a little better in South Florida. I think the better produce goes to places that have better financial demographics. Just an opinion.

I will say I am more limited these days on choices, I used to go look for farm stands, now I really can't use that as an option.

Tomorrow morning if I can set it up I will head to the flea market for some fruit and veggies, maybe I will get lucky with what they are offering.

Hopefully you are fortunate, and get some good deals on some much-needed fruits and veggies.

Plantains are the ones you are thinking of. Where I live there are practically no Cuban's, hardly any Hispanics at all, its really strange. There are very few ethnic groups living in the area. A small community of Greeks in Daytona, not many others that I have seen. So the ethnic food markets that I used to frequent in S. FLorida, are not present here at all. Of course there are fish markets, and regular supermarkets, I even found an oriental market in the next town over. but it's not like other places I have lived.

I can eat most fruits, and veggies, if it looks weird I am wary but I would always try it at least once.

I am enjoying it, it lasts forever! I am still vaping on the same charge at green. Of course I change off too, but all the others needed the charger this morning or last night.

Haha! Don't blame me. I don't taste tobacco at all in DS. I'm only going by what it says on the site as a description. I can't even say what I taste other than cinnamon.

My home is on land I don't own, it is rented land. I can plant a garden, but I can't fence it off the way I would like to. The local raccoons, armadillos, rabbits and whatever else is out there will steal the food, dig it up whatever. I also don't think I have the strength any longer to really tend to a garden of edibles. My ex-husband did that kind of thing and it took a lot of work. I would do it if I was healthy to save money, but I can't imagine sitting in the sun for 5 minutes once it warms up. I hate it. If the house was bigger I could do a few indoor plantings but we have little space. My room is a very medium size room, filled up with furniture I won't get rid of, I could never get it again.

I would actually love to switch houses with my Roommates brother, his house is more than 2x the square footage, he never moved into it and stayed there for 5 days in a year. We paid the same thing for the houses. He has more land and a fenced yard.

Wow guess we're lucky to be living here. Not only are there tons of farms (corn in summer so fresh it has dew on it) but in winter the stores are loaded with produce from the co-gen plants. They burn the huge mountains of coal silt left over from the decades of mining. They produce electricity with steam and all have huge greenhouses operating next to them. Produce is cheap too especially at the farmers who all operate roadside stands.
Xmas trees are also around $10-$25.00 at the tree farms or for $35 the volunteer fire companies will deliver them.

sound wonderful! closest mall? closest grocery And gas station? As long as it isn't a one light town, I could live there. I like quiet and safe. I wouldn't mind moving a bit north if I could find a cheap place, I hate the heat, Too much crime in FLorida.

I don't find anything wrong with living in a one-light town. There's no crime to speak of, housing is affordable, and many of the amenities are here--grocery store, gas station, a couple of good restaurants. The only time I really need my car for is to shop for clothes, and visit with family.
