I hope its alright for me to post this, all the people freaked out and terrified of nicotine should stop eating alot of veggies and fruits.

*sorry about enough posts for link, you know what to do*

Nicotine definition - Medical Dictionary definitions of popular medical terms easily defined on MedTerms

Actually I already knew about nicotine in veggies (not in fruits though) but if you look at the concentration, we're talking sniffing a match vs shoving your face in the car's tailpipe.

I remember somebody trying that line when I was interning for the Cancer Society (which is funny since I was smoking then).

Also cooking further decreases nicotine (and I think you should be cooking all non-organic produce).

I agree though about lack of research about just nicotine (but tobacco seems to be the only natural substance with high enough nicotine concentration to warrant search). All research does indicate nicotine is addictive. If it wasn't nicotine patches/gums shouldn't work.

I guess I'm alone about not vaping nicotine cartridges in front of non-smokers.

Again I have no problem vaping 0 nic cartridges in front of anybody (with their permission).

I just hope the "twits" don't realize there can be nicotine in our cartridges and screw it over for everybody. I can see a whole rabble of them claiming addiction and to put a stop to vaping.

Does anyone actually do any research about nicotine?

OT? There is a fair amount of basic research about nicotine, and how it works in the brain and the rest of the body (I do some of it in my day job). The basic research is not always directly applicable to smoking, or smoking cessation since it much of it focuses on the receptors for nicotine and the effects of activating the receptors- pretty complex actions depending on which system of the body you're dealing with.

i've heard people complain about second hand smoke for every reason except nicotine. why would vaping be different in that respect?

Because it is the ONLY ingredient left in e-cigs that is in analogs. There is nothing else to complain about. Stick coffee in a small tube, let the steam escape the end and watch the 'nannys' go crazy.

anywhere my broomstick takes me
I got my dad an e-cig nbecause my mom was recently diagnosed with COPD and asthma. Now she uses it more than he does! (she was an occasional clove or Galois smoker)

Anyways, she uses a nebulizer with this awful tasting medicine in it. She complained that she can taste the stuff for hours, no matter what she eats or drinks. Now, after a breathing threatment, she vapes clove for a minute or so and the taste of the medicine is gone. She says the e-cig is worth it for that reason alone.

I have copd and have a nebulizer that i use. (however, since vaping 2 months now, ive not had to use it?)

but i agree with your mom, i can taste the medicine..its yuck, and my taste buds are off whack for a few hours..

I hope your mother is doing well..

Yeah, well, they don't work though.
:)

I mean, seriously, isn't the sucess rate like 5% or something.
I would think 5% would quit just by chance, using just a placebo.

Let me start by saying its really really late and Im really tired
I misread your post thusly:

'I would think 5% would quit just by chance, using just a POTATO '

I sat here for 5 minutes thinking..'wow really? You can use potaotes?'
:rolleyes::oops:

ah, yes, what was i thinking, trying to apply anything like common sense to the issue. *sigh* ;) if they were 0mg nic cartos/cartridges the people would probably complain that the appearance of vapor... wait, i'm almost sure i read a complaint about that elsewhere already. nevemind. *defeated* :p

Before I tell this story, here's a little background info.

My grandma HATES smoking. She used to try to get me to guilt my mom into quitting. Remember those keychains they had back in the early 90's that looked like a no-smoking sign and it would hack like an obnoxious non-smoker? I had about fifty of them, all given to me by her. Well, now my 9-year-old cousin lives with her and of course she's made her a mini-smoking-nazi. On top of that, my cousin can't go five minutes without starting some S***.

Well, anyway, this summer I was visiting my grandma. I was sitting in the room that was designated mine while I was there, smoking (yeah, I said it. Vaping sounds silly.) my e-cig. Just to start a fight, she ran to complain to my grandma, because the cigarette "odor" was giving her a headache. It took me five whole minutes of trying to explain to them that it had no odor before I was overcome with frustration and took a huge drag and blew it right at grandma, and she, who can smell cigarettes on you if you walk past a smoker, told my cousin to stop trying to start a fight. Just goes to show you, some smoke-nazis will still stick up for e-cigs. Also, that nine year old girls are full of hate.

Argh the fake cough was bad enough when I smoked - to hear if I vape would probably push me to..bad behaviour!
I've had the fake coughing, in a area mind you where smoking was PERMITTED, and I must admit to taking very short quick puffs deliberatly producing more smoke than even *I* could deal with just to annoy the cougher.
Later my friend faked an asthma attack around this same person while they were using perfume, just because we wanted her to know what it feels like.
I know, it was wrong  but hopefully we taught her a lesson in manners. :D
Yikes!!! Strong perfume, incense filling the air in metaphysical stores, car/truck exhaust. These things seem huge compared to our little PV's output and yet they are taken as the way it is. Hope your lesson worked.
Vape On!!!

I have had asthma since birth and recently been diagnosed with COPD. I have been using inhaler(s) for years multiple times daily cant go anywhere without them. I have been smoking for 23 years even with all that (yeah stupid i know). My condition usually puts me in the hopital about twice a year when the seasons change. Strong smells of cleaning products especially bleach bother me, hairsprays, spray paint etc.

I got my first kit on Tues. I have been using it since and I have used my inhaler about 4 maybe 5 times since Tues which is unheard of for me since high school atleast. I have not been waking up coughing, my smell is returning because everything in my house and my clothes are starting to stink to me lol. I can see I am going to be busy cleaning and washing the smoke out of everything.

I think she is crazy there is no way that the smell is bothering here I am glued to mine all day long and I have done nothing but fell better from it. I can not see anyway that she can be bothered by it except for dramatically.

I had a similar experience but with a happy ending. It was a family get together and my Uncle came over to my house, first surprised when he saw me vaping by my computer. At first he asked what was I doing (He didn't say smoking because he saw the blue LED off my 510) and I told him I was vaping. I explained to him what vaping was and he told me he had asthma. I felt bad at first, but after letting him try and blowing the vapor on his face, he was amazed with how he wasn't coughing like crazy. I told him about the PG that's also found in his inhalers and he was flabbergasted! Heh, my moms was a bit mad because my other aunt had to get all whiny about it but then again, when does my aunt NEVER whines?! Lol

I'm still thinking about the comment wrt exhaling minute amounts of nic, and its' effect on nearby people.

While I would certainly never (without asking to demonstrate first) exhale directly into someone's face to make a point, there are probably hundreds of activities (some necessary, some by choice) that emit minute amounts of harmful things that others nearby may breathe in! (I'm thinking vehicle exhaust, smoke from a bbq, etc).

While I am not a scientist and haven't ready any studies (if they even exist!), I don't for a second think there's enough nic left in the exhale to realistically cause ANY percievable issues whatsoever.

Sure, there are extreme examples in enclosed spaces where this could be 'proven' wrong, but by and large I think the idea is pretty far-fetched, in my humble opinion..

My personal bottom line: Have the same respect for others as I did when I smoked analogs, and choose whether to ignore or confront those who have something to say about it. I don't think I'll ever try vaping somewhere smoking isn't generally allowed, except the bar scenario, just out of respect. I'm with those who agree that while there is legally nothing wrong with it, it is not to our advantage to antagonize others to the degree that they think (or worse, speak to others) negatively about ecigs.
