Today I decided to experiment a little bit (which is probably terrible, but I didn't think of that til after). With her back turned, I took a quick couple puffs. When she asked what smelled so sweet (I was vaping caramel) I told her it was my ecig. Guess who started to wheeze?

Yeah. That's just obnoxious.

So then I told her "Oh, I found out that one of the ingredients in an inhaler is in the liquid I use." She said that it was more often than not a smell that can trigger her asthma.

So for all of you with asthma - Is that true? Can a particular smell trigger an attack?
I wonder if you had said candy would she have wheezed? Try mint or a fruity flavor and say it's a tic tac and see what happens.

My husband has asthma. My vaping hasn't set him off at all, but then again, I do not release the vapor right in his face. I think it boils down to a bit of common courtesy and caution...even though some people can be so IMPOSSIBLE and DRAMATIC at times!?!%&?!

Oh those dogs are beautiful.;)

I am lucky, or at lest think I am lucky no one bugs me about my vaper, but they know that if I don't have any nic I'll rip their poor little feeling to shreds. Some times it pay to be an ..., still feel bad about the little girl and the ice cream.
But really the only ones I know that are worst then ex smokers are born agains.

Yeah at this point I wouldn't push it further with her. Smells only affect my asthma when their from chemicals; perfume, candles some cleaning chemicals. but I don't have an all out attack unless it's either in a small room or walking by a bath and beauty, realy concentrated.

Yes those are the triggers for me as well- no add allergic reaction-runny nose, itchy eyes to the wheezing and that is what happens to me everytime some over doused woman walks near me.

Ticks me off since allergy's can kill in minutes but nothing is ever said about second hand perfume!

I was breathing so much better the first two weeks I was vaping but the last 2 days i have felt that, just can't get a deep breath issue- I figure it is either because I no longer cough up all the junk since there is no smoke to trigger it- or just maybe I shouldn't have stopped my preventative inhaler. :D in either case the one thing I do know is it isn't vaping causing it.

by the way I LOVED the fake asthma attack around the perfume lady- have to try that one for sure.

For me, yes. I have problems with cinnamon as well. I love the taste and smell of it, but in high concentrations, such as cinnamon candy, or "spice" candles, it will cause an asthma attack. Sadly I've had to give up trying to enjoy cinnamon discs or fireballs because of this. There are no particular smells that I could name that set me off, but strong smells, some perfumes do.

While smells can be psychological triggers to asthma symptoms if she smelled it, asked, and THEN started wheezing, that's just pure bull. If it was a trigger for her she would have started wheezing, then ask about the smell.

Unfortunately for you, now the idea of PV vapor is a new psychological trigger for her :p

I'm sorry but are you guys vaping 0 nic cartridges?

If you aren't; isn't it rude to blow nicotine near anybody? Its still an addictive ingredient.

Sorry coming from a guy using e-cigs to quit smoking. I hate it when my gf uses her e-cig with higher nic levels near me. I just get cravings.

But than it could be just knowing she has higher nic cartridges than me.

OP try this....act like you're going to absent mindedly vape around her and see if she has another asthma attack. If she does, then you can mention that you didn't even activate your PV, and call BS.

Then again, there's usually nothing to gain from picking a fight with a crazy woman.

I have emphezema and broncitis and I vape also. Yesterday I was out shoveling snow, and I noticed that I was breathing a lot better than last year, when I was out shoveling.I noticed that I did not catch a cold this year. Last year I had to stop shoveling, because the phlehm was restricting my breathing. I actually started vaping because of the propylene glycol. I have been off of analogs for twenty odd years.

Another benefit from vaping is fewer digestive problems. I had heartburn after every meal from childhood. Peanut butter ,one of my favorite foods was the worse culprit in getting heartburn. Now it doesn't bother me at all. I can eat peanut butter and go lay down without the heartburn. One of the reasons I gave up smoking was a doctors advice the smoking was a part of the reason people get heartburn. the other was emphezema. There is more to vaping than meets the eye. But then again, it may not react the same way for everyone!

This happened to me at a concert.

My wife was sitting beside me and this lady was sitting on the other side of her, and I was vaping somewhat frequently. But then my wife and I switched seats and when this lady saw me vaping she got really mad and said she had asthma and she could die.

So then my first reaction, of course, was to get really mad. And of course my first thought was to tell her to go... well, yeah, to go do something somewhere.

But I told her it is not a cigarette, and it is not smoke, it is the same stuff you see blowing around on the stage. It is the same stuff that is currently filling the air and wafting all around this indoor venue.

And then I put it away and didn't use it for the rest of the concert.
