Global Peace Then someone would start a Pros/Cons thread on vaping vs Smoking and that would all be shot to heck :)

Think we may keep it peaceful though if we simply agree that everyone ought to be happy, further that the universe supplies for everyone being happy. There is no scarcity in the universe, or Earth. So, if smoking makes you happy do that. If vaping makes you happy do it.

As sonic boom once expressed; there is no right or wrong, only what you makes you happy. Do that and don't mind others doing the same. Have no worry that some sociopath killer will go round killing out of happiness. Somewhere there are people happy to escort such cases to deep holes to be forgotten. The universe even supplies its own security forces.

It's a bowl of beans, you can eat the beans using your fingers, a fork, spoon, spork, chopsticks. The beans do not care how you eat them. It is enough the beans nourish you and provide life. Choose how you want to eat them, eat them. Don't worry about how I eat the beans. I like using slings put on automated robotic arms, sling beans at mouth. People catch my beans in their bowls. It's alright because there are ever more beans. No need to think, or worry too much about beans. :)

And yes, ... May the pod be with you.

People who watch Faux News aren't just cranky..... They're also a little touched in the head.

I don't watch TV except for NHL games. Last series that I watched was "Lost," and I did not watch all of that. I don't watch TV because it is for fools that need someone to tell them what to think.

People that make the least sense to me are those lauding the award of a Nobel Peace Prize to a clown who left 33+ million people of Iraq undefended after we removed their army...and yet he uses drones to kill thousands globally every year. The second set of people that make the least sense to me are the ones that went in to Iraq to remove their army leaving them defenseless.

If you want to see me cranky, keep discussing which set of fools you illogically support.

So, apparently you do watch TV but are willing to contradict yourself in the same sentence? ;) (couldn't resist the little jab - done with earned respect for ya')

I watch TV. It's entertainment when I want it (I watched all seven seasons of LOST, and yes, I liked the way they ended it), educational when I watch stuff on PBS (NOVA, Nature, et al). I believe that I think for myself rather well, without being spoon-fed dogma by the likes of Fox or CNBC, Bill O'Reilly or Chris Matthews. Had Turner Classic Movies on earlier and the family got sucked into watching the original No Way Out (1950) with Sidney Poitier and Richard Windmark with me, which was almost disturbing to watch for it's overt racism - but that was the intent of the film, to challenge the racism prevalent at the time.

So the distinction that needs to be made is that those that only watch Channel X Network because it never challenges their views are the ones that don't think for themselves..

Yea... I don't watch TV other than NHL games. It's too political, and you know which way the media falls, before the program even begins, so any analysis is immature, and they expect their audience to be immature.

In a few years I'll probably buy a 4K TV b/c I do not expect the resource form factor to change in 10yrs. Hopefully I can hook it up to an Internet connection to download movies from Netflix. Right now, I think that is the major thing I miss out on are movies but I'd like a 4K 65" TV to view them on. When the prices drop, I'll throw down for movies alone.

I simply don't have the time to watch these programs and they do not appeal to me. I'd have to watch both sides talk ad nauseum about topics I know more about due to a very broad set of tools I've developed. I "screen" more than 4,500 accounts at once in Twitter using TweetDeck. I've built some honest, neutral, news resources in the areas of "Vaping," "AI / Singularity, Futurist," "News," "Military and US Strategic Policy," DevOps," VMware," "Python," "Aero & Astronautics," "Network & System Security," "Linux, Unix, Windows," "Sport & Supersport," "Physics." I have around 100 Twitter lists that I maintain...and I read a ton.

I just binge watched Longmire season 4 from TPB & FF through NHL games stopping for fights
I direct my TV (4 year old 50" Panasonic plasma is still perfect)
in my DVR now:
Black Sails - pirates
VICE - news
NUMB3RS - 29 episodes
American Pickers - mind numbing Americana
Vinyl - S & D & RnR
Pootie Tang, Easy Rider, The Jerk and 9 minutes of Big Lewbowski including the "Condition my condition was in" scene
a bunch of nature shows - Bald Eagles on Nature, 6 episode "North America" mini series
34 episodes of Aerial America - helicopter flyovers of all the States
Sons Of Anarchy series finale
Doctor Who last season's finale
I FF through commercials and don't watch Faux "news" or other hate TV
I watched BBC's Beethoven's Symphony no 3 Eroica - (Genius creation of the Eroica - 9 June 1804 ) from Youtube through my TV and stereo with my 80+ year old FIL today and enjoy Black Label Society, Zappa, Funkadelic, Blues, Jazz & Beethoven Symphonies the same way
The Prisoner -> X-Files -> LOST -> Fringe = natural progression of my favorite trippy shows

I like TV my way

I'll tug my own finger (smells like fish) get off my lawn

You mistakenly assume I support any set of fools.

Lighten up, Francis.

Not much mistaking going on when you use a brainless far left term to make a misguided point.

Out of curiosity, from a totally unbiased point of view, which news station has been caught lying and intentionally reporting false news stories the most? Far right Fox, or far left NBC/MSNBC? Which side is the most guilty of producing "faux" news?

We do a lot of streaming in our house, mainly Netflix. My HTPC in the bedroom can scrape video off other sites (PBS) for stuff I want to watch. One SmartTV and an AppleTV give access to the streaming, plus my home-brew DVR system. I work swing-shift so there are a handful of programs that I record to watch when it's convenient (and like @Mowgli I can FF through the adverts). Probably my favorite non-comedy series ATM has to be Madam Secretary, which is saying a lot because I've never been a big fan of Tea Leoni.

I avoid the aforementioned news dogma shrill me-too channels to save myself another heart attack from outrage and indignation at what they spew as their "product".

For music I fire up a dedicated stereo. For information about the world, I fire up around 15 to 20 Twitter lists out of 100 that I've created, plus roughly another 25 that I subscribe too. I come to ECF for vaping related information.

I use a 75Mbps Internet connection, and 2015 Dell Alienware Area 51 with 30 inch monitor at 2560x1660, and I'm thinking of getting another 30 inch monitor. For easy listening to music, I have a Sound Blaster ZXR card that I use with Audio Technica headphones.

The image below is roughly 25% of the news available to me without scrolling. I can view 50% of the information at once that I've developed resources for called Twitter Lists, but the image capture utility refuses to screen shot it because of the number of pixels...and, you would not be able to read it. To see the rest of the news as it is NOW in these silos, I can scroll to the right for the other 50%. If I want more news in any one area... I scroll down, backward in time up to a day or more. Could be just 4hrs of news in a column, it really depends on what is happening globally, per subject matter.

I wouldn't know because I largely ignore all mainstream news outlets. For that matter, I ignore the ones outside of the mainstream as well. Everybody has an angle and it's too much of a PITA to sort the grains of truth out from a sandy beach of BS.

Again...... Lighten up, Francis.

Streaming audio, Groove Salad from somafm out of 'Frisco.

Soothes the soul of my Cranky Vaper. ;)

I want to get in to DSDs. I'll apply my computer to being a music server to stereo components I have not purchased just yet. Waiting for the sweet spot in prices to come down. Like the 4k TV, DSD technology will cost 25% of that it is now, in around 2yrs.

I gave my last stereo to my mom and dad. Likewise, I'll give them whatever I have when I move on to DSDs.

Reminds me I used to listen to ... wossname... Space Station (?) from SomaFM. The one with chill ambient mixed with voice recordings from NASA missions.

Good stuff.
Rusty's got a whole slew of stations running; Space Station SOMA is just one of them, and it's still streaming. :) I fire up his holiday streams around Christmas and laugh at some of the stuff on Xmas in Frisco..
My kids think my musical taste is weird. I like to think it's just, well, eclectic. Like me. ;)
