I think my vaping habit will be the same. I'm stocked well enough to last the rest of my life. But I do hope I can get better at DIY. It would be nice to have a small selections of flavors rather than the two I have now.
Do you mean 2 flavors or 2 mixes?

Hopefully I will have mastered coil building on those RTAs and RDAs I've had stashed since 2016. And I'm thinking most or all of my regulated mods will have bitten the dust and I'll be digging out the mech mods from the bottom of my vapocalypse bin. That's one possible scenario, and the least optimistic one.

2 mixes. I have dozens of flavors but have done very little with them except make a nice lemon cake (not my recipe). I've been mixing my ADV for years with very few changes so haven't been motivated to experiment much, but I hope to get more into it in future.

Or you could look at it another way.

How many flavors did you have when you smoked.;)

I'll be hoping the OLED display is working when I open new, unused regulated mods in 5 yrs. And, the unused ones 5 yrs after that, and unused ones 5 yrs after that... Yeah, went a little nutso in the buy-buy department. If each of the mods I've purchased in the last 3 months lasts a year, I'm good for 20 *but* that only applies if the display works.

You must be really rough on your mods. It's just five years.

In a quick search, I can't find anything about OLED longevity in devices other than TVs. Those estimates aren't to total failure, but rather to a clear degradation of performance. Estimates for the current crop are from 8-11 years in service 10-hours per day, usually outlasting the backlight.
I guess it makes sense to use any OLED devices in your stack first, saving devices with longer-lasting technology for later.

[Displays used in vape mods probably are not of the same quality as those in high-end TVs, though]

OLEDs are their own light source; they don't use back-lights. My experience is they degrade the most with use (leaving them on) and less (but still a bit) in storage.

Here's a couple of chargers with OLED displays, both purchased in 2014. Pic is ~2 years old.

The one on the left had been in storage as a spare/backup for ~5 years. The one on the right had been used much of that time and left plugged in / powered up for a good portion of that time. Pic was taken in low ambient lighting conditions; what it doesn't show is that the one on the left is so dim that it can no longer be read in normal daylight conditions.

Hoarding vape e-liquid is a thing? I thought there are expiration dates on e-liquid?
Those dates are pretty meaningless. How long vape juice lasts depends on storage conditions and what flavorings and sweeteners are in it. I've had some store-bought liquids that turned dark and smelled bad in under a year while others that are 5+ years old and are still fine.

What most of us have hoarded is unflavored, high-test nic base, which seems to last indefinitely if properly stored (glass bottles, in the freezer).

True enough. My speed-reading comprehension failed me there. The discussion had switched to a comparison with LCD TVs, and I blinked, LOL.

Yeah, I had a charger become unusable due to its dimming display. And, that happened in a LOT less than 8-11 years. But, I left it powered up almost continuously (bad me). Kinda illustrates these types aren't going to have the life span of an OLED TV.
It's good info to know usage is a factor (as I expected). Vape devices don't have their displays activated nearly as much cumulative time.
I'm guessing high-temperature storage would also shorten their life span. Like in a hot attic or garage.

Oh' good to know. I'm actually looking for no flavor e-juice. It's not smoking and for some it's not about taste but for the nicotine.

With unflavored nic you have the option to flavor or not. The flavoring will continue to be available for those who want it.

Going to make a BOLD prediction.

In 5 years @AngeNZ will only need two squonker and and 2 tank systems in rotation.:D

    That would be bliss

As long as I'm still vaping and not smoking I'll be happy. But it wouldn't surprise me if I turn full circle, and end up vaping RDL on tight MTL setups :sneaky:

Thanks for the pics. So, what I understand from this is after 5 yrs in storage with no use, almost good as new?
