OK, try number 4 and I think I finally got it right again! The variable was that when using the side material from the caps, accounting for the curvature. I slowly trimmed it bit by bit, testing it by pressing in the center with my tweezers, to see what it did - often it just caved in. Finally I got it just right, so when pressing on the center, it just bowed in. I also made the hole TINY. Then I trimmed 1mm off the straw. Finally, I placed it in the cart curve side-up. So, my second flavor cart is working fine -finally, I was getting tired of dripping.

All I can say is like Scotty says - patience when making these! Start slightly large and slowly trim off tiny bits and pressure test it with the tip of the tweezers or needlenose pliers, then start with a tiny hole and keep testing the flow until it's enough. Have to remember - these don't have to be quick to make, because they won't have to be replaced frequently!

I also found that, if it's getting too much liquid, pull out the cart a bit, to remove the bridge from the hole. You can still vape it when it's not pushed in all of the way. vape the liquid remaining in the atty, then push it back in to "refuel." It's almost like an auto "dip" mod!

Kristin, I had the same problum when I used the sides of the cap to, there a no go... seems like your only going to get one per cap so like you said you better take a very, very small amount off at a time.. cause once its to small you might as well chuck it in the trash.. I really feel there is a way to make this easyier for everyone just not sure how...

Well I got 5 good ones wich should last me a long time you all are on your own now seeya:D

I am using material from a heat resistant spatula that you would use to stir boiling food in your kitchen...it is the same silicone as the cap...has an incredibly high melt rate, and the cart would melt before the silicone would.

I don't care for dripping...too many times when it is either inconvenient or downright dangerous (dripping and driving anyone?)

We are only breathing in chemicals if the short burst of heat is actually melting or changing the molecular makeup of the silicone. We know that the material in its current state is safe..it has been used for baby bottles for years...and the short amount of time that it is being exposed to high heat is very short by comparison to what it is exposed to while cooking...you know, when you leave it in the pan (which is pushing well over 500 degrees) while you go grab a beer! :)

If you don't like the mod, that's cool...that is all you had to say.

not my point of whether i like it or not.

as long as you realize that inhaling something into your lungs is entirely different than ingesting something into your stomach, knock yourselves out.

Well I guess that knocks out PG, VG, polly, foam,Nickel alloy,fiberglass.... if you are that worried about inhaling silicone It might be a good idea for you to quit vaping altogether nothing in a e-cig has been proven safe yet...

Teaser:

I believe I have this working with the 901 whistle tip. More to come.

I made one of these for a normal 510, a 510 whistle tip and a 901 whistle tip about an hour ago. They all work great...no leaking, enough flow, etc...on my first try.

The pen hole worked great for me.

Also, all I did rather than using a razor blade (of course I have 10000 and I can't find one when I want one) was press the cap down onto the cart really hard...hard enough to cut through. Basically the same way as making the pen hole. Perfect size.

Seems like a great mod to me!

I tried the stock cart to cut out the plug but I took a hammer and tapped the back of the cart, tried to punch it out... all I ended up with with a crushed cart..lol..glad you figured somthing out that works for you.. I wonder how much it would cost to stop by a machine shop and have them replicate the stock cart into steal? I could pop them suckers out all day long then..

Haha I really just used my fingers to do it. I'd assume it would be too much on most peoples' fingers, but....callouses from guitar strings ftw!

Another thing I'd like to add - I have bottles from Tasty Vapor (great juice btw) and they have a sort of needle tip on them. They fit perfectly inside my pen hole, and I can see the juice fill up in my white carts.

The 5/16" punch that I used for my "plug factory" worked perfectly for cutting the material for the 901 "D" shaped cartridge. Then I just cut the flat with my side cutters.

I'm dorking with different configurations for "straw height" and slit/hole.

But.. while I'm typing all of this, my 100% cast silicone plug is just about done.. and that's the one that I'm really interested in playing with.

Finally! I've figured out what I was doing wrong. My straw was too long. I cut it down to 15mm (which happens to be exactly what was suggested in the first place). With a precision blade I cut the plug exactly right. With the rotating hole punch, which I bought at Ace I can easily punch a 2mm hole dead center. All of a sudden it's working perfectly and I'm churning out plugs in about 2 minutes each. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Now I have to see if it'll work on a 6v mod that sucks juice for a living.

Did I mention THANK YOU.

I tried the press and cut, too. But it didn't work. How about rubbing the edge of the cart with a pencil. Press it into place and it should leave a perfect pattern. Then cut out the pattern. It's the curves that get me.

P.S. Maybe I'll try that next. I just got some silicone material from Wal-Mart. Didn't want to cut up the cup cake holders. Plus it's thicker.
P.P.S. Just remember to wash off your cap and plug afterward. Pencil led is on the do not inhale list.

Do you have any 510 carts? Would the 5/16" punch work for the 510 if i cut off two sides (for the 510 shape) instead of one side?

With an actual hole in it, why doesn't it leak? I understand the star-cut method... the slits would seal themselves when not attached.

Air pressure.. simple as that. I've been trying to tell people to just add juice in a cart and quickly hold it upside down and watch it hold.. i guess no one ever tried. I mean hell, you could hold it above another cart if it leaks. You may get a dropor 2 but.. if you just fill it to the lips that are down about a 1/4" from the top the juice will hold untill you angle the cart and the juice will slide slowly down the walls of the cart.

I bet if you added 2 holes to the plug, one on each side it would drip threw. In order for the juice to flow its gota have air flow in and out.

Just like in your house if you wanted to vent it with the windows open. You need to have 2 windows open for air to enter and exit.

Same as you cant blow into an empty bottle. But if theres a hole on the other side you can.

I've tried to explain this fact to someone on here for weeks now and he's not getting it hehe.
