My thoughts on the New, Tech packed Vehicles ..

I loved my old Chevy Avalanche .. when it got to the end of it's life cycle, it was a sad day for me .. I knew that truck as well as I knew myself ..

So, logic said 'Buy a brand new truck, since that may be the last vehicle you'll ever need ..' .. so, I drop $65K (total, out the door) .. and, I love my new truck ..

However, it's packed with tech I don't need or want .. and the 'brain' will not allow driving if certain systems are detected as failed or faulty, if the 'brain' thinks so .. (not that I've had that problem, yet) ..

So, hope that any glitch that comes down the pike happens while the new warrantee is still in effect .. because, these days, about anything requires a near PHD to fix and costs 5x what old, simple tech used to cost ..

Even a simple thing like an oil change is an easy $100+ clams .. because, instead of regular old 10/30 oil and a filter, you need synthetic oil .. I can remember oil changes being $20 and that was back when they needed to lube the zerts as well ..

Then, the availability of these new fangled tech parts is always a crap shoot .. I've got a buddy with a new vehicle that had some module go out under warrantee and has sat at the Dealership for 4 months waiting on a part ..

Packing NASA tech in a vehicle may seem like a real wow factor, but like many things in the Modern World, there is always a dark side .. but, the thing is, you really don't have much, if any, choice ..

These are just more failure points that, in most cases, cannot be handled by the driver and requires a technician to diagnose and fix ..

Good morning....just checking in. I'm still around, just not on here very much. Been dealing with a lot, both good and bad, worst being I lost my brother on Sept. 8th. He had Parkinson's, but his death was sudden. I'm glad he no longer suffers, but I miss him and my heart hurts for his family.
Still dealing with health issues, myself, but I keep bouncing back. I think of all of you often and hope you all are doing well.
I honestly DO have good days. LOL...
Take care, one and all....and sending love to you..

I now realize that lemon fades quicker than most flavors. I'm going to try four 5ml testers.
Arnold Palmer-lemonade flv 4%, Tea black ssa 4%, (sweet .2%)
Lemon Cream-milkshake cap 1.5%, milk flavor fa .5%, lemon juicy jf 2%,
vanilla ice cream 2%, (sweet .5%)
Coconut Lemon Cake-coconut flv 2%, lemon cake inw 2%, lemon meringue pie cap 2%, meringue fa 1%, yellow cake cap 3%
Dinner Lady-lemon cream wafer cnv 7%, lemon meringue pie cap 6%,
(sweet cap .5%)
How long should I let it steep, before the lemon fades, I'm thinking 2 weeks?

Heehee No, but that does sound like me! View attachment 1032708 I got a bunch of stuff from Amazon today to accessorize the car. I love making it mine. We took a drive to an audio shop to check on upgrading the radio. I could not believe it was going to be a $1000. Sheesh!

We were laughing tonight because even though it is a 2011 car, it is the most advanced car I have ever owned. I found out tonight that the windshield wipers adjust automatically to how hard it is raining. That is just crazy. I also have never had a car that push button starts and opens just by having the fob in my shoulder bag. It takes so little to make me happy. View attachment 1032709
I love my fob! No more searching for the keys!! My fob will also open the "trunk" on my car and I love that for when I'm shopping especially if it's raining. I didn't realize for awhile that it could do that so I was quite happy to find that out. I'm so happy for you and your new car! I hope you have some more pleasant surprises.

Cleaned out the shed this weekend, was glad it rained today so I could rest. I couldn't find a home for 2 wood chippers and a tiller. We put them out on the road where Perry lives because the city picks up anything. We went to get some egg drop soup, and when we came back, they were gone. Guess someone beat the city to them. Hope everyone has a great start to their week.
Initially I thought that's what you had in mind-that someone would pick them up. Mike had a regular lawnmower he wanted to get rid of. He put it out on the sidewalk and a week later it was still sitting there. Then he put a sign on it "IT WORKS" and it was gone in an hour! Win - Win!!

Good afternoon random folks. I'm still in Lourdes France. I waited in line for 3 hours for a 2 minute "cleanse" and prayer. I've drank the Lourdes water, splashed some in my eyes since I have bad vision, and filled a 1 gallon container. The water at Lourdes which comes from the spring in the grotto has reportedly cures more than 65,000 people, with 70 cases documented and confirmed through an exhaust8ve evaluation. Tomorrow we leave very early in the morning for Rome.
Good morning/afternoon to you Terri. :)

I hate dealing with car dealers too. That’s part of the reason we keep our vehicles so long.
I always buy slightly used. 4 years is my regular rotation. Buy a 4 year old one (low miles) and trade in my other. 4 years later, repeat. I like to let the first guy absorb the depreciation. I always pay cash. Sadly, paying cash does not hold the clout it used to. Dealers like you to use their financing department.
I have two Toyota dealers I like and will deal with. I always deal only with the sales manager because sales people come and go too often. I refuse to be smoosed. I let them know that right away. Be there to answer my questions but do not talk constantly about how great the car is or how good I will look in it. I already know what I am looking for and I have done the research.
The beginning of the year I bought my current Toyota. A "Limited" 2021 with only 30K miles. Pristine condition. The "Limited" has more bells and whistles than I would have chosen and some of them scare me. Yikes. But I got a good deal.
