Review:
There is two kits, basic and advanced. Looking at the contents of each kit I think it makes sense to pay more and get the avdanced kit. That is because in the basic kit you only get one single coil deck, while in the advanced you get single, dual and mesh. One thing I am missing in the kit is some regular coils and cotton. You only get some mesh strips and mesh cotton (6mm ID).
Normally I am used to massive 30mm+ tanks from Steamcrave, but this one is the first 'regular' size tank with its 25mm. As expected from an RDTA it is a tall tank, this one maybe a bit taller than normal since it also has additionally Juice flow control (JFC).
Its design is actually very similar to the previously reviewed Aromamizer V2 and Ragnar RDTA. Almost every part can be taken apart, just not the main chamber and airflow. And the Supreme V3 can also be turned into a (tall) RDA. Quality is outstanding on this tank, it really feels premium and the threading is smooth as butter.
Looks might be very different for each person, but I like the looks of this RDTA, especially with the straight glass. With the bubble glass you get more capacity, but it just does not fit the tank very well in my opinion, I like to keep it straight. Drip-tip that comes with the kit is very comfortable, but would have been nice if it was red, just fits much better on black.
Very nice tiny addition to the tank is a 510 drip-tip adapter for those that like smaller drip-tips for RDL, or MTL. Also, you get two chimney options in the advanced kit, one narrower and wider chimney. For me the wider chimney works great for all decks I got, the narrower is handy for those that like RDL, it really helps getting a warmer and flavorful vape. Had a hard time trying to unscrew the chimney that was pre-installed, it was so tight.
An improved fill system it has with the quarter turn mechanism, much better than the threading on previous tanks. It uncovers two large fill holes, can't miss those. One thing to remember (and I always forget) is to close the Juice flow control before filling. If you don't you might end up with some leaking from the airflow.
Talking JFC, it is always a welcomed feature, and on this type of tank it is great to have. It allows for rewicking/building and replacing the deck without having to worry about making a mess. The ring turns easily, just wished the lock icons were not painted white, but carved in, would have looked much better.
Just like all latest Steamcrave RDTA's, you just cannot complain about the airflow options. With its 3 different options, from 1 to 3 sleeves, you can accurately adjust airflow from lots of air to very restricted. With one hole uncovered you get an MTL type of airflow even.
Bottom of the tank unscrews easily and uncovers the bottom of the deck. All decks are smaller than on the Aromamizer Plus V2 and Ragnar, not cross-compatible. Decks press fit into the chamber only in one way and sit in there tightly. Have not experienced any leaking from the bottom, there is an O-ring inside the bottom cape opening to prevent leaking.
For all decks there is one important rule (especially the mesh and dual deck), you must really comb out those ends of your cotton. On the single deck the wicking slots are quite ok in size for a single coil, but in dual and mesh they are on the small side. When I first saw the decks I saw the bottom feed slots are really tiny and was worried about dry hits, but it actually saturates very well even while chain vaping.
Let's start with the deck that is included in both basic and advanced kit, the single coil deck. Overall it is easy to build on and the wicking slots are large enough for little combing. One thing that I think that could have been changed on this deck is the posts, for me they are a bit too far apart for the coils I used, had to make my coil leg distance wider for it to fit. If it us about the vape, it is just great. Lots of flavor and the airflow options are just perfect, getting a smooth RDL/DTL from this deck. Works best with the narrower chimney.
Now the mesh deck. Just like on the other Steamcrave RDTA's with mesh feck it does not have a pressure plate in the center, pushing the cotton up towards the mesh strip. This does not matter at all, always getting very flavorful dense hits. Both clamps are spring loaded making it easier to build. Very nice that Steamcrave included 4 mesh strips, enough to vape on for quite some time. Like using the narrow chimney for lower wattage (under 50), but even over that it is a good solution for getting a bit warmer vape as mesh tends to be quite ‘cold’. Flavor from the mesh deck is outstanding, really nothing to complain.
Finally, the dual deck. It is quite small compared to the Steamcrave decks I am used to, which is not a big deal, but you must really comb out the ends of the cotton very well as the wicking holes are just a bit too small. If I would have to choose between the three decks which one is my favorite, then I would go for the dual deck. It delivers tons of vaper and lots of flavor, it vapes very smoothly with the airflow and did not experience any dry hits. I do however feel that the dual deck, or even this whole tank, is for vaping up to 90W, since the wicking holes are small it has issues keeping up when vaping above 90W.
Have been using this tank as well as an RDA, and it vapes great as well, but it won’t beat a regular RDA. It is quite tall in RDA mode and you do feel the difference in flavor with a regular RDA. There is also no squonk pin included for the single deck, only for mesh and dual. Yes, it is great you can use it as an RDA, but no I would not buy this tank having RDA in mind, for me its an RDTA tank, period.
Conclusion:
Another fantastic RDTA by Steamcrave, cannot find much to complain here. Maybe the wicking holes could have been bigger and a squonk-pin for the single deck could have been included. For the rest it just vapes great and provides tons of flavor and vaper.
It being so versatile for me is one of the main reasons why I would recommend this thing, feeling single? Pop in the single deck. Feeling Dual? Pop in the dual deck. And maybe another day you feel Meshy, just pop in the mesh deck. It is just a luxurious position for a vaper to have these options at hand and to be able to prepare the deck in advance.
In my opinion the most sensible kit is the advanced kit as you get 3 decks. Buying the standard kit only gives you the single deck, which means you are stuck with a single coil RDTA, just spend the extra money to get the Advanced kit.
No it is not a cheap tank, on the official Steamcrave website it costs 70$;
https://shop.steamcrave.com/aromamizer-supreme-v3-rdta-advanced-kit_p1074.html but in return you get a single, dual and mesh RDTA. In my opinion a good investment if you are looking for a proper rebuildable. Pretty sure you might find it cheaper on other websites, I’ve seen it being sold for 55$.
Thank you for taking your time to read, let me know if you have any questions.
Take care,
Sjoerd
