Why are explosion stories in the media always linked to guys?

So whats the deal with it always being guys that do something to cause their batteries to go bonkers and explode? does it turn out that girls are just brighter with more common sense :pervy:......seriously though what is the deal?

All jokes aside, is it that in general girls do more research from the get go then guys do and why we never see, or rarely see, a girl involved in these incidences of battery explosions? Now some may say guys are more likely to use mechs and other advanced devices then girls...i don't know but judging from this forum and what i see out in public...girls in general seem to always have pretty nice setups and seem to be very knowledgeable about the ins and outs of using their devices. i am always impressed with the ladies on this forum when it comes to advanced talk of vaping devices...so no i can't say it's because most females are tootle puffers using tootle puffer devices... i see far more preferring to sub ohm.

So what do some of you think is going on with it always being guys who are linked to explosion stories in the news that unfortunately gives vaping a bad rap? I am not trying to give guys a bad rap here...just seriously trying to understand it...why is it always males and not females.

The more i think about it i think some of it might be that girls are more likely to be more organized in their daily vaping needs. I would never throw spare batteries in my pocket for example, i would have some kind of compartment to store my spare vaping pen and batteries while out and about.... so females are organizers and planners where guys are not in most cases....might explain some of the incidences.

But then this doesn't address the misuse or mishandling of battery use in the device. Why aren't more females messing up in this area and having their devices blow up? as a matter of fact i haven't seen one story involving a female in any of these cases so if i missed one, then we can still say we rarely see it involving females.

I think why this is so shocking to me is because most of the time guys are into taking something apart and putting back to together....it's all about how does it work and why does it work where females generally care about 'hey it works' and need to know no more and move on. I just find it odd that it's the guys all these explosions are happening to.

Idk, ever since i started approaching my vaping like a 'dude'--i feel as though i have actually vaped 'safer' as a result.
(Grrrr, lookatmaiBIGmod)

I haunt my local hardware stores. The Home Depot guy was giving me the 'hairy eyeball' as i asked him to free up the electrician's multimeter. Rebuilding has definitely brought out my 'inner dudeness'. I have a Dremel, Black and Decker drill, an arsenal of bits, and a set of needlenose that wound up next to my pile of makeup. My vaping setups are sooo not pretty--but my Sony VTC5 married pairs ARE pretty--and will keep my face pretty too--as i vape my 0.7 dual-coil cloud machine.

Well, off to my facial!!

I've heard plenty of stories about girls using the wrong charger on their ego pens and having them explode. Not to mention charging through usb ports on computers and frying them. Mars and Venus I guess. Some people just make bad decisions about anything in life. It is what it is......

I find it hard to believe that the media is just covering explosions involving guys because let's be honest...they would get a far better bang covering females, innocent mothers of children who simply was trying to quit smoking by vaping and now they are hospitalized and scarred for life all due to the explosion dangers that come with vaping gear. The media could spin those stories to have far greater impact then covering ones involving males. So no i don't think the media prefers to cover the male stories over females. I just think there are no female stories available to cover or they would be all over it.

Who said anything about media coverage? Just said I've heard stories, and I've actually talked to a couple of gals that had it happen. No one got hurt, although one girl burnt up the console in her car pretty good, LOL. It's easy, more guys use mechs, mechs can do way more damage when used improperly, therefore more media stories with guys blowing their faces off. There is no mysterious phenomenon here. People make mistakes, I've made plenty myself.

Genetics and brain development. Men are stupid. Particularly when under age 25. Our brains don't fully finish developing until our early/mid-20's. And some guys never really outgrow that stupid, risk-taking mentality, believing they are immune to possible dangers. It'll happen to some percentage of females, but at a significantly smaller percentage of population.

Same reason as car crashes from guys racing.

@edyle Ditto. It's the same reason young men are involved in any kind of
accidental injuries as an age group. Natural competition for status, prestige,
and or sexual conquest and all that. Couple that with an attitude of invincibility
and over confidence ( I'm not lost) one can understand observing such a trend.
These are not necessarily bad attributes, just human nature expressing itself.

Yep, brain differences. Testosterone running through your brain can interfere with logic :D

And yes, most of them have been under 25, and men take longer to become adults.

Do some reading about the differences between male and female brains, and how they process different types of information. Its quite interesting.

Could it be that women are less likely to discuss their injuries with the media ?

I have no doubt that men have suffered most of these injuries, but up until a couple of days ago, i hadn't heard of any injuries involving women. Then i read a story in my local paper ( Seattle Times ) about 4 patients treated in one Seattle hospital ( Harborview Medical Center ) since October, and the article stated that none of the four were willing to discuss the explosion. Granted, only one of the four were women, but it got me thinking that perhaps there were other injuries involving women, but they just didn't make it to the media.

The reason you never hear about women and exploding mods are because they're too busy making sandwiches, cleaning house, or taking care of little ones.

See how that almost sounded as ridiculous as the OP.
