I love the damned thing but it has been giving me some problems. When I change the batteries it works about 60% of the time. I have to adjust the atomizer and the batteries and I still can't exactly figure out why it won't work sometimes. A few times when it doesn't work, I'll feel heat coming from the bottom of the handle, near the springs. I'll open the battery compartment and notice that the bottom battery is blazing hot. In fact, I thought it was going to explode so I took it outside. This happened 3 times with 3 different batteries.
The only thing I notice is that resistor looks cooked as it has turned brown, shrunk and smells funny. Otherwise all the solder joints are intact and don't appear to make any contact with the body.
My 510 adapter froze halfway on and I tried everything from my teeth to pliers to remove but to no avail. I was able to screw it down completely but unable to remove it. It was stuck half way. Unfortunately, I had to destroy it by taking a Dremel grinder to it to get it removed.
Reading through this thread I now know that I should've pre lubricated it but what do you think the deal is with the connection? Is there a short somewhere causing the batteries to heat up? Any suggestions would be radical. Thanks.
