Does that mean the atomizers do work? Or did they burn out? Another stupid question. If I take a brand new atomizer out, I keep reading we have to prime them first. How exactly is that done? I've always just popped the new atty on and dripped 3 or 4 drops and I thought I was good to go.

I did have a time for a while with my Screwdriver burning out about 4 atty's. Was it me that did something wrong?

Not sure on his atty's or your SD atty's Sharon ... Sorry!!!

When I pop open a new atty ... I drip about 5-6 drops ... Take a few puffs, then add a few more drops. making sure that first 20 puffs is welllllll juiced! :)

OK, thanks Steve, I'll try and make sure I'm diligent. By the way, I sent you an email on the PS site, have you gotten it yet? My friend has already called me asking me if I got an answer. Just wondering. Thanks!

Before I give an opinion tarheels, Steve did you get my second email? Hope it's OK and we're still OK ;)

Tarheels when I first vaped on the Prodigy my first thought was, wow, this isn't nearly what everyone said. I don't know what I expected, but I think I was expecting so much, like going into vaping nirvana to the max. But in the real world, it's just plain a GOOD product!

Then after about a half hour or so and my expectations settled down I was able to judge the Prodigy more fairly.

I am still able to vape the same strength of nicotine I was able to before, where many people said they cut their nic. levels in half, but there truly is a difference between the Prodigy and the Screwdriver I have used for the last month. The 901 went by the wayside a month ago when I received the Screwdriver.

The Screwdriver became my vape of choice because of the length of time the batteries lasted, I loved it.

The Prodigy has and is now replacing my Screwdriver, and it has the long life in the batteries. It truly does put out a lot more vapor in my opinion. I don't notice a tremendous difference in throat hit (other than it seems much smoother to me and that's important because I tend to get a dry scratchy throat from vaping), but I'm trying to be really honest here. So all in all, to me it's a MUCH better vape because:

1) The Prodigy has long lasting batteries.
2) The Prodigy gives me much more vapor.
3) The Prodigy seems to give me MUCH better hits with regards to consistency (and that's a biggie for me).
4) The Prodigy doesn't roll easily off the desk because of the button placement.
5) I can drip with the Prodigy and I am definitely a dripper.
6) I just plain LOVE it.

All of the above is just an opinion ;)

also wondering if i need the 801 instead of the 901,is the 801 bigger or produce more vapro and if this is an option will the 801 atty screw on the the 901 adaptor i have for the prodigy or will i need a 801 adaptor?

Yes, you'll need the 801 adapter to use an 801 atomizer.
Reports have been:
901=1-2sec. hits
801=3-+5 sec. hits.

The 801 is a larger atomizer and is able to handle more voltage than the 901 atomizer. Thus the ability to take longer draws off of the 801.

Overall people have been reporting "warmer" vapor and more TH with the 901, and more vapor and flavor with the 801.

2) When attaching atomizer ... Twist until it snugs up. Once snug, make sure to give it another 1/4 turn and you should be set.

So I should be snugging my atomizer on? I've been careful to get it snug and then loosen it a bit each time to ensure I don't have the 'over-twist' issue some have reported...

Am I losing some power by doing it this way?

Just got my Prodigy today and fully charged up the batteries.
I got about 6 hours of pretty consistent use out of the first batteries.
However, after putting in the 2nd set of batteries, after fully charging them, the atomizer pops when taking a hit.
Something seems to be expanding when it heats up.
However, the atomizer doesn't have to be hot to the touch to pop.

Could there be a problem with my atomizer?
Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks in advance,
cantstop

I timed it and I don't seem to have any problem with a 3 to 4 second draw on the 901. Maybe I don't draw hard, but it works well for me. I have developed the habit of holding a finger on the atomizer to check it for warmth. I stay aware of how hot the atomizer gets.

yeah i had that too i dont know if its an actual problem i just figure it was due to the voltage increase that i wasnt use to,it heats up alot fast almost boiling the juice you could say, where as the regular 901 pen style would take a few secs to heat up by then all you hear is the sucking sound

Thanks for the response.
I'm glad I'm not the only one, but I love the prodigy.
I'm hoping the batteries will start lasting longer as I use them.

Haha ...

Hey Dee ... No biggie.

There are batteries that show voltage but actually don't provide enough amperage to power anything. So, a battery may very well be the culprit. What I suggest you do, over the next day or two, is something DW told me to do with his batteries when I was testing them.

As soon as you pop them off the charger, take the 5 seconds and test the voltages. When the batteries start to get low and need a recharge, test again BEFORE you stick them on the charger. We may be able to find the *bad* straw in the bunch.

Another thing, you very well could have accidentally not charged the batteries :) LOL. I know it sounds odd, but its true. Make sure they fit in the charger snug, if they don't take a small screwdriver or pliers, and pry the little piece of alluminum forward so they do fit snug :)

So, give those things a shot and report back!!!!

Enjoy Happy Hour !!! Wish I could be there myself!

-Steve

Ok, I think you hit it right at the top - I checked the batts for voltage but forgot to check the amperage. I suspect that as some have stated perhaps the batteries need a few cycles to come to their full potential. I'll keep notes.

I'll also test the batteries as you suggest at the beginning and end of charge cycles to see how they read.

I also learned a tip to pass on -

When you put the batteries in the charger place the negative end in first and then pop down the positive end in place. It can be a bit tight and I thought maybe I was doing it wrong so I tried by putting in the positive end first and then popping down the back. Bad move. The battery caught the negative contact in the charger and slid it down and flattened it. The batteries then flopped around in the cradles and did not make good contact.

If this happens unplug the charger, remove the batteries and using a small screwdriver or tweezers slid behind the contact and gently slide it back up and twist slightly to "pop" the contact back into the proper shape. Only load the batteries negative end first. (This was not my power issue as I recognized what I had done immediately.)

Thanks again. :)

Oh and one really good thing - I can now troubleshoot the Prodigy from one end to the other. I like that.

I think I found the reason why the Prodigy designed atomizer is popping.
They don't have any pressure relief holes near the threads, in case of expansion, like traditional 801s have.

My standard 801 atomizer has not popped at all using the Prodigy.

Thanks,
cantstop

What do you mean by "Prodigy designed atomizer"? Puresmoker doesn't make atomizers, so Prodigy would be shipping with normal 801 atomizer and not one designed specifically for it...

On their website, it says,
"DSE801 Penstyle Atomizer (Specially Built 3 Hole Atomizer)"

I am unable to post the site url, so go to pure smoker and look at the atomizer for the 801 that they sell.

Just thought I'd mention this in case others are experiencing similar problems.

I was ready to return my prodigy after blowing 6 attys & getting really wimpy vapor - nowhere near as good as even a half used 3.7 battery. I have been dripping & tailpiping for the last 6wks on a manual passthrough - and the prodigy just well basically sucked in comparison.

Anyway found "my" problem - the switch/resistor was tilted about 1mm - switch was flush but resistor was 1mm high on one side. Took a lot of force to push the resistor out but once reassembled it now slides in and out easily, and sits level instead of angled.

The adaptor now screws on easily too (used to "snag") and no blown atomisers since.

edit
My atomisers hadn't popped - they are working fine again now they are connecting properly :)
