If your "experience" happend to me, you ask what I would do? I would have sent it in for repair/replacement, OR took the full refund you were offered. I would not have taken the approach you took....you asked, so that is my response...

And for future reference....Why did you not take advantage of the warrantee and why did you not take the full refund offer?

thats neither here nor there, and has nothing to do with what the quality of the device may be, perhaps i know someone who wanted to build a custom mod with the chip or perhaps i found enjoyment hitting it with a hammer like a baseball bat off the side of my job site, if i made a different choice than you dont be baffled, everyone in the world wants everyone else to think and do exactly things the way they would want them to be...basicly i gave up on that item and moved on to other devices


if i could pick a mod in that price range i would definately go for a gg w/ a iatty2 though those things are classy....its not vv but with the right resistance you really dont need to adjust the power...

XXKing, I understand that everyone here is entitled to their opinion but I've read no less than 5 threads from you trying to discourage people from buying a Darwin. This is without looking - just what I've come across browsing. I've not seen anyone else here with your problem. It appears to me as though you are singlehandedly trying to trash a small business owner who has been a tremendous asset to the vaping community.

I've tried mods that I didn't care for and I would never try to intentionally harm someone's business. What gives? The BS here is overwhelming and I ask that you please stop. Darwin is an awesome device. You chose not to get your money refunded. You tried to auction your broken Darwin on the classies and lashed out when we tried to help you.

Your negativity toward this product, in my opinion, flies in the face of what our community is about and is based on 1/2 truths. I'm offended by the misinformation that you are feeding people and ask you to please stop.

Slumdog, you can find a wealth of information on the Nhaler thread with members who own both units, both Nhaler & Evolv offers superb customer service.

Any hesitation based on the defiant ones posts, simply do a search of his posts, where you will see that Drew did offer to resolve providing they return the unit and nothing has been done.

Ok, I know that this question has been asked a million times.... I want a good back up mod..I already have a provari..and am already considering one of the blue led ones for cyber mondays sale but I kinda want a darwin.... without starting a fanboy shootout at the ecf corral....what are some of some of your expirences and what would you go with? just constructive insight please......

Since everybody's tastes differ, what's best for you can only really be answered by you ;-)

That said, the advice given early in this thread to try the Darwin and then sell it if you don't like it is very sound, since they frequently sell at very close to the new price when posted on the classifieds. If I were to suggest a course of action, I would go with this one, but I'm biased because I absolutely frickin' love the Darwin

I'm not a "fanboy", I just really do like the device. I've tried many others and this one just happens to be my fave. I tried the Provari and it really is an awesome mod, built like a tank and works reliably and consistently, I can't fault it there. It just wasn't for me and wound up sitting around unused after the first couple of weeks I had it. I also have an Infinity and that is also an awesome VV mod that I use fairly regularly. I've had my Darwin since May and it has been my daily go-to device for that whole time

Every mod is going to be a different experience in terms of both performance and form factor considerations, so the only way to really decide what's best is to try them yourself. All the "shootouts" between fans of different devices are pointless arguments IMHO since they're based on mostly subjective matters of personal preference. Take some time to objectively weigh the features and other deciding factors of the devices you are considering and make the choice that appeals most to you and you will be sure to be comfortable and satisfied in your purchase ;-)

If this helps the new Darwin's have a blue screen. I have both a provari and a Darwin. I like the Darwin more. No E1 errors. Bad side is ya can't close the arm with a tank on.

when my ego came to not really help anymore i wanted something better, im in college with no job and student loans, so i wanted to go with either provari or darwin and started surfing around, i went with the darwin cuz the wattage thing just made more sense to me, since then i have had a few VV devices and they are not far off, if you know ohms law or can find a ohms law calculator online, its easy to figure out what ohm atty and what voltage you are going to want. im not lucky enough to own a provari at this point as well as my darwin, but provari is next on my list. fact is you already own a provari, you know you like it, you want a back up or secondary device, try something new, like everyone says if you dont like you can sell it easily. if i had the money, i woulda have gotten both, but as a lot of people say the provari is a good tube mod, and the darwin sits flat, wont role away, so my advice is to try the new thing! good luck with you decision!

Just get another Provari as long as you don't mind Provape overcharging for an item (which they can when you come out with an innovative product until it is copied at a lower price ie. LavaTube) that there is not much comparison to in functionality, warranty, and style.

i no longer own a provari but i still support their product. its a great piece of equipment.
I sold my darwin also which was not eye-candy by any means but worked very well and wattage adjustment by the 0.10th is a joy i never knew i needed.
If you need a backup device get a vv boxmod. its a nice change of pace and awesome to have.

IDK about overcharging. of course there has to be a profit margin but look at the quality in comparison to the lavatube. also the warranty (which i hear plenty of complaints about the lavatube). The materials used in a provari are far superior to that of Rider.

I like to try new PV/s Mods and enjoy alternating devices. My favorite backup is a new type. So my advice is -- try the Darwin!

(I must confess -- I actually like it's look now that I own one. It seems tidy to me. I like being able to lay it on my desk. I like that I can use like a pass through. I like that I wasn't nervous about carrying it on a plane. I love the display & simplicity of V Watts and .... I could keep typing, but it's all been said.)

I personally would get the Provari just because of it being a tube style mod. I have a Provari and love it. My ONLY issue with the Darwin is the boxiness of it and Im not a fan of the little arm that swings up. I know some people absolutely love it. I just dont think its for me. Though Im sure if someone gave me one to try Id probably fall in love with it. I do like the volt wheel and the red led screen though!

Simple solution ~ wait a few weeks for the Kick to come out. For well under $100 you can set yourself up with the "Darwin experience" of variable wattage to see how that compares.

BTW ~ got to play with the Darwin 2 weeks ago. Never cared for at all the form factor of the unit, but I will say it felt very nice in the hand and was impressed.

BTW 2 ~ for the who dislike trolls so, I would sure hope you spoke up against them whether attacked the Darwin OR the Provari. Otherwise it's just fanboi talk and rants IMO.

I always lurk and very seldom chime in but I will on this topic. I have owned a provari since January and have always used it as my only device. I love it, it's beautiful and a complete workhorse. I had to send it back in a couple of weeks ago, after 10 months of absolutely no problems, and have it serviced due to an error code. I also must add that I received it back in 7 days from coast to coast. After being without it for that length of time and having to resort to a riva I had in a drawer, I ordered a darwin to have as well. I just got the darwin yesterday. I love it! It performs like a dream and I enjoy the feel of it in my hands. I love that I don't have to carry an extra battery with it and can charge it just about anywhere. My provari is not taking a back burner but I do love this thing and I am glad that I decided to make the purchase. That is just my two cents, take it as you may.

I also say go with the Darwin. I have and use both devices daily. Both are awesome devices, but I might admit that my slight favorite is The Darwin, as it is just more fun. The Provari is gorgeous, rock(steel)-solid, and goes well with a tank (I find constant dripping and refilling a chore.) but the Darwins wattage adjustment is just awesome. Can find the sweet spot on anything in seconds, and have not yet had an amp issue (I run into that quite a bit on Provari). It fits well in pocket with its long form factor and swivel arm. Only con I personally have is the impracticality of tanks and other large attys. Basically, while the Darwin is my go-to device, the Provari is my workhorse. At work and at home I probably use the Provari most as I can avoid re-filling and at most will have to change the battery at some point, but out and about, it's only the Darwin that sees use. A combination of the two is just perfect for me though.

I work in front of a computer all day and the Darwin is very convenient for me. Since I use a tank-like accessory I lay the Darwin flat when not in use and keep the arm at a 90% angle. I only turn it off overnight and I get almost two days per battery charge.

Pickel and Ice's posts pretty well discribe the dilemma that many face when trying to decide between a Darwin and a ProVari...both are top-of-the-line mods.......each has features that many like......if you are fortunate enough to have both, then you have the best of both worlds...if you only can get one, choose the one with the features you like best and go-for-it...
