13yr OLDS REGISTERING ON E-CIG FORUMS....RIGHT OR WRONG

I would not join a uk based e-cig forum as it allows members as young as 13. I could be telling someone how to mix high strength base liquid & wouldn't know if I was talking with an adult or a kid. I can see no reason whatsoever for kids so young to be members on an e-cig forum, other than they are vaping. Or am I wrong? Have I read the rules wrong? Perhaps something I missed. Its to do with these pro-boards forums that allow 13yr old members.

I think that's just a pro-boards default setting. It can't be changed.

They can't verify age but it is stated conversation of an adult nature is not allowed due to 13yr old members. I just assumed that anyone who was openly stating that they were 13yrs old would not be allowed to register on an e-cig forum. I have no doubt that there are a few under age kids vaping but surely to allow them membership on an ecig forum is encouraging them.

13 is way too young to start vaping. I do remember smoking in Junior High School, but it was not a ritual until late in High School.

nobody has actually said that they were vaping that young. But I would say that allowing kids membership of a forum where e-cigs ect are the only things being discussed is surely encouraging them to start vaping. Some sites that sell e-cig related items require you to click & confirm you are 18 before they allow you to enter. If young kids were vaping & also members of an ecig forum that would not be good publicity for vapers.
I have just learned that its the proboards that allow them to register but their account would be deleted if it was known they were on the forum under 18yrs. Thats a relief. There will always be a few that claim to be 18 but are in fact younger. That can't be stopped as even if you asked for ID they would just use someone elses. The legal age for smoking in the UK is 16 so I don't see a problem with 16yr olds on an e-cig forum (although the mods may). I am unaware what the age requirements for smoking are in other countries but I would assume that vaping would have the same age restrictions. Having said that, I would doubt it in USA as even adults are considered to be kids until they are 21. Yet they are allowed to drive cars at 16. Perhaps one day we may have global laws. However by the time that happens we will all be gone.

I couldn't be oppose to a 13 year old vaping. As I started analogs at 12, and at least half a pack a day then. So if vamping was available then.. I'm sure it would have been the safer alternative anyways.

agreed but they should NOT be on any forum IMO its enabling in a way.. if they lie about there age thats on them but if they admit it openly that they are underage and do not stop them it is for sure enabling...

I have to agree. I started at 13. By 14, I was smoking a half-pack a day. At 15, I was at nearly a pack and tired quitting for the first time. If e-cigs had been around, I likely would have tried them. I know people will say that a young smoker's parents can get them but, at least in my case, that wasn't an option. I'd have sooner taken my chances of quitting cold turkey than to admit to my parents that I was smoking. If I could have gotten e-cigs at 15, it may well have prevented over 35 years of smoking for me. OTOH, I doubt I would have started vaping at 15 if I hadn't already been smoking. Too much money to plunk down all at once without a good reason. You could look cool for $0.50, why spend so much more on an e-cig?

I agree there's really no effective way to screen based on age. If a 9 year old
wants to join a discussion group with age restrictions ...
Won't be long before they would get a message: "Welcome to the forum"

I'm not familiar with the UK form in question
However, if it is similar to the ECF ... You don't have to join a forum to get information.
Subjects discussed can be viewed by anyone with a computer and an Internet connection.

Today ... When networking on the NET ... You don't know for sure what the age of the
person your talking with or even sure if they are male or female.

Agree with Petrodus, if one could source for a forum of such, theres no way it would restrict them from signing up aside from having IDs a requirement scanned in order to register.

I think that this forum based information is collective resource available to all, could be more accurate due to personal experiences rather than randomly googled sites.

If i were them, and were restricted to this forum due to age limit, does it mean that i would stop all attempts at getting a pv or mixing my own juice? Think i would probably just jump straight in and get myself killed kind if you know what i mean.

I can't rightly say I'm against it-I was on "Adult" nature sites back when I was 13. There are no good ways to stop it/restrict access, and honestly, if they DO join a forum, and it's found out, then yeah-kick 'em off.

Fact is, these kids are going to find a way no matter what-might as well have a slightly HEALTHIER option.

Hey if i kid can go on a porn website why not a vaping website. I would have went crazy without porn when i was a teen lol and i wish there was a vaping site to help me quit smoking when i was a teen. Thats just the internet. If a kid is on a vaping site its probably for a reason like quitting smoking. I cant see kids thinking vaping is just a cool thing to do.Id be more happy to see them on a vaping site then a smoking site. Theres really no way to stop it from happening . Its the world we live in.There is much worse sites they could be on. I wouldnt promote them to go on vaping sites but wouldnt stop them either.
