I think you should do who has the best all around prices on hardware. for instance company a may sell the 510 starter kit for 45 after shipping company b 38 after shipping company c 25

dont make it model specific unless you want to. also make it without cupons. cause cupons expire.

lets say heaven-gifts normally has things 2 dollars cheaper than everyone else. then they should win.

also have one for fastest shipping time from order to door. a lot of people ask who has the fastest shipping time. that would be good info to know as well.

Maybe expand the customer service into categories. Shipping, service, returns, best cartomizer company, best traditional e cig supplier or something along those lines.

Maybe also divide by country.

If you just do CS I suspect Steve or Drew will win and we wont end up with a broad enough picture for newbies and people outside the U.S. Nothing wrong with them mind you.:)
I hear you but if Steve or Drew get the most votes, it's probably for a good reason. I'd really like to make this the Best of the Best and keep it simple if possible.

What do you guys think of having people nominate up to 3 products/companies in each category so that we aren't determining the winner at the same time we determine the nominees?

I'm psyched to see so much response, great idea Pete45! Are you going to keep track of the categories? I'll be ready to start up the nomination process next week (after Thanksgiving).

Anyone who wants to help tally the votes, just PM me with the email where you would like to get those and I will setup a vapy.com email address that will just forward to all our emails at the same time. I'm guessing we only need 4 or 5 people to help tally.

I think 3 nominations in each category is a good idea for the exact reason you state.
Example: Best E-juice Category
1) Nhaler (worth 3 points)
2) Totally Wicked (worth 2 points)
3) Strictly E-Juice (worth 1 point)
(these names are used purely as an example!!)

Add everything up in a spreadsheet and let the top 5 go at it! I'll PM you with my email address so that I can help. We need to have a standardized form for the nominations. I can create one in excel if you want to add it to your website. It could be downloaded, filled in and sent back.
At this point we really need to all agree on the categories. I'd like to avoid dozens of sub-categories if possible. Maybe a total of 10?

I think for the last two we should come together talk to a couple of suppliers and see if they would donate some items for the 1st 2nd and 3rd place for the ecf member of the year award and service to the industry award.

those people go above and beyond to help all of us every day and should be rewarded for their efforts.

Good idea. If this gets off the ground I'll explore that option.

Awesome Idea.

My suggestions.

1. Not only "Best E-Jiuce Supplier" but also "E-Juice Manufacturer" E-juice supplier and Manufacturer are different things in my eyes.

2. I wouldn't have individual categories like best battery for 510, or best atomizer for 901 cause, for the most part, they all come from the same manufacturing company.

Otherwise looks good and great idea!

I think you may be right on the Manufacturer vs supplier. It seems that 90% of e-juice is made by BOGE (Dekang) in China. The only difference from site to site would be price. However, there are several other manufacturers that offer their own unique e-juice. How about "Best E-Juice Supplier/Cost" and " Best E-Juice Supplier/Quality". I can tell you that I definitely pay a lot more for the juice I prefer than some of the deals I see online. I guess I've always believed that you get what you pay for. Stop me if I start to over analyze this as I'm prone do do so!!

The domains are hooked up and I've got basic "coming soon" pages on both vapys.com and vapyawards.com. I'll be heading to Vegas tomorrow for a traditional Thanksgiving on the Strip, so not much more will get done until next week. It looks like the categories are pretty much set but we can always add or tweak things right up until nominations start. I'll have a page put together sometime next week so that people can submit their nominations at the Vapy Awards site. PM me with your email address if you can help with nomination tallys.

Hey pete,

This award idea is fantastic!

Unless it's included in customer service, another possible category could be Best Product Warranty. There are some suppliers who have fantastic warranties on the products they sell while others will give you one that seems like its only 24 hours. :)

Just my .02

Thanks for your input. I think we'll have to consider Warranty as part of Customer Service. Anyone with little or no warranty is not going to be selected for any award IMO. Actually, some of the best CS I've experienced is when a supplier goes above and beyond any written or implied warranty to make their customer's happy.

I agree with this list. Anymore and its gonna get complicated quickly.

The category list is looking great. I really like those descriptions next to the category name. The only thing I noticed was the ECF Member of the Year Award category seems like it might be too exclusive. Maybe we could change it to Vaper of the Year or Most Valuable Vaper and include people in other forums or those who tend to post more on YouTube, etc?

Then I feel maybe we should narrow our scope instead of someone possibly saying we are speaking for everyone... call it the ECF 2009 Vapys... or something the like there of. I would also like to see the ECF Mods/Founders sign off on this... especially If we are planning on putting their name on all these sites.
