Ummmm. TWSS? I know it does not work totally, but could not help it.

bj, thanks for the continued testing!

Impossible to get no hole, it is a roll so it is going to always have a tiny hole at the center, just roll it as tight as possible, it takes me about 15 minutes of tight rolling between my fingers. If i get any spurting out the top, I crimp the center rolls with a needle nose.

Posted this on another thread, if anyone knows of such a substance let me know.

Having three dentist nephews I am always going thru their stash, talk about dremels wow, and all kinds of glues, plaster, and teeth making products. Looking for a substance that I can dip the end of the wick in. Porous, semi flexible, and non conducive. Haven't found it but it must be out there.

Dipping it in a special porous ceramic would work, then putting it in a kiln and baking it to the right temp and time to anneal it properly, ending up with a porous ceramic on the mesh,,, your going where only one man has gone ( me ) hahahahh but the mesh isn't even needed at this point BJ, that's all I've got for now.

These are gross tests, there are so many other factors working on the SS wick. thermo dynamics, expansion, ambient temp, barometric pressure, back pressure to name a few.

Sounds like you've been infected with the salmonella quigsworthiticus, let me know I'll call in a script if you need it ;)

I'm not sure other peoples appreciate pestilence named after them the way the Caucasoids do, but then again, there's kawasaki's disease, takayasu arteritis, and dieulafoy lesions. Guess the Chinese got left out!

Health Cabinitis? Smoktech's tumor maybe?
You left one out. DID Knockoff Hemorrhoids :D

200 should work fine in a top tank, just roll up as much as you can

I don't know about rolling it tight Cyrus...for large weave mesh like 200 (I use that 170) in a top tank, it's not so much wicking as it is a perforated pipe that relies on gravity and surface tension, it kinda "bleeds" through to the coil as it's cooked off by the coil...I roll a thin wall tube out of 170 that just rocks in my GTUS...a tight roll doesn't seem to cut it, for me at least...

in fact, oddly enough, I rolled the same dimension as my 170 wick (I almost don't want to call it that, because again, it's not a true wick) out of 400 and dry hit city...I let BJ figure that one out :)

Last lab test today, drilled another hole in one of my kerosine test burners so I could install a U wick. Neither a 500 or 400 U wick would maintain a good flame, just confirmed tests I did many months back where I concluded that a U wick was only 30% as efficient as a straight vertical genesis wick. Very unsteady flame when I light it, keeps going from medium to small, then half the medium size then almost out and then a little spurt and it goes out. That's why I've never seen a U wick on a candle. lol
Hmm.. That suggests I chop just under 1/2 from the atty I rigged in both the Nova and the Thor.

Unless those would magically be Exceptions?

Well, in absence of any further feedback.. It was time to refill anyway, so I rinsed out and chopped off one leg (pos side), reassembled and filled.. I can sense a taste-diff, but am unable to ID - so it may well be psychosomatic. In any event, it's still producing tastely fogbanks of vapor off my Puck.
