Dense wicks draw a lot of heat from the coil so I know of people who don't like them because it takes longer to heat the coil at low voltage..
Always had it in my head that the SS mesh could be part of the heating element that produces vaper just thru convection. I have a feeling that Emonty's 28g .9 ohm vaping monster at that high wattage is heating the mesh to the point that the heated mesh is also producing vaper. Going to do some experimenting with my 40c lipos and also ordered this to play with. With the #500 I think I finally have a wick that can keep up with high volume vaper production.

Noticed that on the Line last night (almost reminds me of my hybrid mesh/cotton wicks)...if it's been in my pocket for a while and cold, the first short vape is basically a throw away...on the 2nd, ah there she goes, a fair amount of SS to heat up there...and I'm staring down the barrel of a long Canadian fall/winter...my devices need a block heater..."Hey, gotta a place where I can plug my mod in?...I'll never get it started in the morning if I don't" (there's something BJ may not be able to wrap his head around

I really got tired of dry and tasteless hits. Darkening of liquid rancid flavor, wasting 1\4 of a tank because of dark matter appeaing in my zen. I drilled my hole to 3\32 used a piece of insulator out or a carto and started to experiment. I tried 230, 250, 325, and 400 mesh. 230 sux 250 o.k. 325 o.k. 400 sux. All of these were thin straw like. All failed. I gave up. Then one day I read about 500. I didn't know where to get it and where I did it seemed expensive for such a small piece. I did how ever have some pre-oxed 400 and alot of 230 mesh lying around. After seeing all the rave reviews about 500 I decided to do an experiment. I rolled a tight 230mesh and added 400 around that. I't seems to have the best wicking as of yet. I still get darkening or juice after 2nd tank though. I would like to get some 500 mesh. Is everyone here happy about there 500 experiment?

All wicks in all tanks end up darkening the juice, you notice it less in small tanks because you replace the juice more often. Backwash of gunk just happens, there is no way around it. Just one of the things we have to live with in any tank. Using a metal tank helps if seeing it bothers you.
I found another major benefit with the setup running: For what ever reason my vaping has become less frequent, the nic seems to do it's job more efficient. I feel calmer, only take a few hits and it is like my system is getting the fix it needs. Really I can't be more happy with it, great, great experience!!!
