I think there is a cloud following me. I have been using the 36g its like the thickness of a piece of hair. Maybe I will try using a new ce2 and see what happens, or some 32g. I am pretty frustrated at this point, even more so when you have used the mesh and it taste so good, then go back to a reg ce2 and its like wow how did I even use these.

That's how I felt w/ filler cartos vs CE2's. Funny how the evolution works. I'd try 32g kanthal if you can get some. I've never used nichrome but have kanthal. Nichrome is a little easier to find stateside though.

The 34g nichrome is nice but still small i have like 3-4 wraps on a normal coil....Never used the kanthal wonder if one is more durable than the other?????

From what I ahve read the a1 kanthal is way more tolerant and durable than the nichrome, of course I already bought 100' of 36, 34, and 32. So I will exhaust my stock befor moving to kanthal :) That sould be around 2024 LOL

I finally got one right. Man this thing is a beast! Not sure whats different about this one but the first one seems to wick too good and floods even when it's just sitting upright unused. The newest one works perfectly though, out performs the original CE2. I think the only difference is the wick in the one I just made is just a teeny tiny bit thicker than the first one I made.

I never give up. I have never not successfully completed a mod anything, except attyy and this. I have been eying the genesis but looks like alot of custom made pieces like the caps and mouth piece. unless there is an easier way I havent seen?

Yeah, the caps are the hardest part to get. A member from Russia, 'slimest', just made an Ego style Genisis that the caps can be made w/ a drill if need be.

Others are using casting material like Stewalin for caps. There's also talk of other co-ops in this thread although nothing is set in stone yet.

poland, and the brassy lands of google
Drew, you can do it. This one doesn't need o-rings. 2 cartos, hypo needles with pins and a small piece of aluminum with 3 2mm holes. Made with a drill, pipecutters and not much else. Top one is finished, the bottom not yet:

Thanks for the tips. I just successfully convert a ce2 to the ss mesh. I took a ce2 desoldered the pos leg, unrolled the coil, installed my rolled mesh.....and success! Took maybe 5 min. - Thanks Dan suggested this worked great!!!!

edit: I did notice a possible problem. The solder joints where the wires meet the coil are VERY small. I been making the smallest j hooks I could and soldered them, but I think my solder at that point may be to big and arching out. Thats what I think is happening......

YAY! Congrats, it was probably the solder points, those suckers got to be small!

Do you think that silver solder paste I posted a link to would work?

Interesting, missed that post. I dont see why no 5 times stronger than conventional solder sounds good. Works with ferrious and non ferris metal. Never tried it, wonder if it would stick to nichrome or kanthal... hmmm one way to find out.

ok its shorting out. Its in a tank, I cant see where is shorting, must me at the coil........Dang it!

I thought that too when I had a similar problem, it could be the neg leg, if you move it around too much while replacing the wick it will weaken at the joint at the base. I noticed it by accident when inserting a syringe to empty the tank and moved the neg wire while accidentally pushing the fire button.

I was looking at this to make soldering a bit easier Amazon.com: Iso-Tip #7459 Silver Bearing Solder Paste: Home Improvement , It looks like it would work great but I'll defer to Dan or someone with more knowledge.

Did you read the one review and the 2 comments?
This review is from: Iso-Tip #7459 Silver Bearing Solder Paste (Misc.)
The description on the package says that it works with a soldering iron. It does *NOT* work with a traditional soldering iron. It was useless, I threw it away.
