Hand check time!!! I got my Vaporesso Target kit today. My first impression is that I am going to LOVE sintered coils. I was not prepared for just how much better my juice tastes through a ceramic coil. I have gone through one tank (got caught up watching the horrible incident in San Bernardino. Prayers for that community) already. I loaded a Vape Wild juice fresh out of the box and, unbelievably, I noticed right away that it definitely needs to steep. I can taste every flavor nuance in this juice (Dutch Apple Pie). Not that that's a bad thing, by any means, but I definitely don't get this much detail from a new bottle on a new cotton coil. I am getting ready to load a totally different flavor (Butterbeer) into it to see how much of the old juice stays in the ceramic coil, if there is any trace left, and how long it takes to get a clean Butterbeer taste from it.
The mod is LITTLE. I am still getting used to it. My instinct is to use my thumb to press the fire button, which works just fine but feels awkward. I think that's because I am left-handed because when I switch to my right hand I hold it correctly automatically. I am working on picking it up correctly, with the grip in the palm of my hand, right now. I think I will get there.
My preinstalled kanthal coil is reading at .87 ohms, which was surprising. I thought it would be much closer to .5. I changed it to TC to raise the temperature and when I pressed the fire button the mod immediately switched back to wattage mode, so for the moment the automatic coil sensor is working perfectly. After seeing a review where the reviewer was having trouble with that I wanted to test it out and I will continue to do so. Hopefully it works perfectly every time. I don't know when I will get around to playing with the titanium coil but I doubt I will wait until this one dies. Maybe this weekend I will swap them out and test drive it.
Anyway, very first impression is that I am impressed with the ceramic sintered cCoil. Very impressed. I am curious to see how it holds up over time.

I agree 100% on being able to tell a liquid needs more steeping![]()
Airflow adjustment is very simple, doesn't take too much force ( my kanger stm is brutal, pliers and rubber bottle cap grip, though no way will that tank's airflow change by accident)
I'm really enjoying the flavor off of this, super clean at 20w. My kanthal head is reading 0.89 ohms, spot on for a nominal 0.9.
The pv seems to be running fine, pretty intuitive. This is an at home or the office unit for me; I wouldn't want to detract from its looks with a lanyard or silicone case like I use with my carry- around gear.
You betcha, mister! And thank you for your sweet post on the contest thread. I was all, "Awwww!!" but I didn't want to get in trouble for chatting! She's officially been sintered! I'm glad you're enjoying it so far, gives the rest of us some hope that some of the links got worked out. This is exciting, hopefully it will keep performing like a champ! Please keep us updated!
Sinter On!![]()
Please let us know when it ships.Pulled the trigger on the stainless steel kit version, I just gotta experience this flavor nirvana everyone is raving about. Holding off on ordering extra coils, though.....
That mod is HOT!!! I hope you will be posting pics when you get it!Pulled the trigger on the stainless steel kit version, I just gotta experience this flavor nirvana everyone is raving about. Holding off on ordering extra coils, though.....
Oh okay, that makes sense. I will swap coils maybe tomorrow and check that out. I did notice one thing... when I reloaded my juice after the first tank the threads and the juice that was condensed inside the chimney was very dark. I was really surprised because there is absolutely NO burnt taste. I clean my chimney often with a Q-tip while vaping and I haven't noticed this second tank of juice getting dark like that. I will clean the chimney and threads again when I swap coils and see if it happens again.@cooladdict
VapnFagan had trouble getting his Mod to switch from VW Mode with a Kanthal cCell to TC Mode with the Ni200 cCell. Mine will leave TC Mode when Kanthal is used after I vape on it, but it is not sensed automatically. I have to vape it. However, mine does not switch when going the other way around, like VapnFagan's. Please check yours to see if it works both ways, or like mine, and let us know.
@markfm
How many tanks of juice have you gone through with that Kanthal cCell?
I just got some MSDS information on the Vaporesso cCells. Here it is, but the "fibrous material" is not mentioned, or at least not that I saw.
MSDS report of cCELL - Ni200 (0.2Ω)
The two reports (Ni200 0.2Ω and Kanthal 0.9Ω) are miniaturized on the page. You can right-click on one and open it in a new tab to easily get back to the other one, or do whatever you want to read them. The Ceramics appear to be fine. Now we need to know what that fibrous material is. The question has been asked of Vaporesso.
.
However, there are thousands different types of ceramic, and our ceramic is manufactured in the high temperature sintering process with temperature up to 1200 Celsius degree.
But maybe an RBA Head that fits the Atlantis, Melo, or others could be shortened with a cutoff tool (or something) to make it fit right.
The cCells are supposed to work fine in the Atlantis.
I just got some news from Heaven Gifts:
For the cotton material, I just get news from Vaporesso. This "cotton" is proved to be made of a kind of food-grade safety material by most tobacco manufacturers in China. And soon they will upload a MSDS report for the "cotton" on their official site.
And this is a conversation on VapnFagan's Target Kit YouTube video...
Vapin' Heathen![]()
Hey Mark just a heads up. There is resistance lock, push the fire and down button at the same time. Also, mine detects ni200 everytime and asks if new atomizer. Maybe yours just had some issues. I love the flavor on this guy. Great vid man.
Vaporesso
+Vapin' Heathen Thank you, Billy.
VapnFagan
+Vapin' Heathen Yeah after trying it again, It does in fact have res. lock so i will remove that con and note the video. As for the Auto detect, No matter which atomizer i use, It will not ask me New Coil Old Coil, I tried many many times the one i have just will not detect it.
NyCJT62
+VapnFagan i think it would work better if you fire it with no atomizer then screw in new tank

Thank you for your video review, your feedback is very important for us, Mark! Just to clarify a few points in the video. What we want to state is that the heating element or the wick material is completely ceramic. The cotton around the ceramic is used for liquid flow speed control and anti-leakage. It is not involved in the heating process. The ceramic itself contains no hazardous chemicals, which is validated by the components test for material safety. The testing results from third parties have been uploaded to our website. Also we saw a comment from a commentator claiming ‘Ceramic puts off toxins at high temperatures, Google it’. However, there are thousands different types of ceramic, and our ceramic is manufactured in the high temperature sintering process with temperature up to 1200 Celsius degree. Heating this material in high-temperature conditions is completely safe. The MSDS sheet from authoritative third party on our website can easily prove that. Last thing, yes the ceramic can be cracked by heavy physical contact, but it will not fall apart in e-liquid. During normal use the heating element is protected by hard metal shell, so it will not be cracked or dissolved into dust.

+Vaporesso during your test how long do the ceramic coils last during regular use compared to others.
VapnFagan
+Vaporesso Thank you for that added information.
Vaporesso
The residue from the e-liquid will be blocking the porous structure. After around 1.5 times of a regular coil, it still works, but flavor lessens.

maybe the cotton would help to protect the ceramic if it becomes cracked or starts to breakup. i wonder how hard it was for you to breakup?
Vaporesso
Thank you for the explanation! The cotton is only used for controlling the e-liquid flow speed and anti leakage. The mental hard shell is protecting the ceramic from cracking during normal use.
So after this "the flavor lessens after 1.5 times" statement, it looks like cCells may still need some work to perfect them. But I was able to use mine a lot more than 1.5 times. However, the flavor did start to decrease somewhat quickly, so I kept turning up the Watts and Temp (on the TC cCell) until it was totally clogged, and that took about 1.5 days. I turned up the Watts on the Kanthal cCell until it was totally clooged, and that took about the same 1.5 days. That is, at my vape pace during continuous use of cCells only on the Target Mod.
I asked Heaven Gifts to give Vaporesso my suggestion about using a larger grain of powder in the ceramic sintering process. Maybe more than one kind of cCell ceramic will be good for various types of juices. Seems to me that larger pores in the ceramic would let more juice through, or might be better for some kinds of juices. I wish them well and hope they make some great progress soon.
Oops!!! I see that Vaporesso meant after 1.5 times the use of other Head types, like OCC Heads. I'm looking forward to Full Production cCells!!!

I hadn't thought of that.Do we worry about what happens to kanthal/nickel wires when they are being baked under those temperatures? I mean, 1200 C is awfully hot... Dr. Farsalinos is dead against dry burning wires, even at 300-400 F.
It has been suggested here a few times, so I guess it's up to them. But they might want to sell their cCell Heads.I'll get my lathe.
Or maybe Vaporesso could make an RBA deck for their tank, eh?
Neither do I, and I don't really want one either.Don't care... I don't have the Atlantis.![]()
Is this your first TC Mod? The only real downside I have found with TC Vaping is how much faster it goes through a battery than regular VW Vaping does. But then again, I think you are still using the Kanthal cCell at 18.5 Watts. Right? In that case, this is somewhat surprising. You will like the full production coils. I'm down 2 tank-fulls already (and a battery. YIKES!) and I really do like the vaping experience so far from this coil. I love your idea about using a larger-grain ceramic powder. I hope that works out. So far my juice still tasted excellent, despite the fact that the residue I got off of the coil after the first tank was very dark.
I am shocked that I went through a battery already, though. I just put a fresh one in (same kind-2500 mah Samsung) and I will see if it drains as fast as the one today did. If so, I will just dedicate a couple of LG HG2s to it.
I hadn't thought of that.![]()

No, I have a few other TC mods, 2 of which take single 18650 batts, so that's why I was surprised. The battery is one of a married pair that I decided to divorce for this mod but it could be that that particular battery is getting old. It only lasted a few hours! I almost didn't even mention it because I am much more inclined to believe that it was the battery and not the mod.I hadn't thought of that.

Hitting the sack now.
See y'all tomorrow.

You've made some excellent points, my dear.I get that. But so does Kanger--and the Subtank is one of the most popular tanks on the market because it offers both replaceable coils and an RBA deck. People like to have choices. And most vapers don't care about rebuilding, anyway, but they still like to have an RBA deck--just in case.
