Ok, since you took the time to find those, I read through them all. Did you?
I'm not going to speculate on that subject any more.
As for the other one, it wasn't hard. I find that google helps you search ECF better than ECF does.
Dead in 1 day:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/provape/281673-my-provari-dead-after-1-day.html
Customer service was able to deal with this issue by phone, without needing repair.
"UPDATE - I just wanted everyone to know that my dead ProVari issue was resolved through the great team work of the fine people at ProVape. MonsterKenny assures me that it is very rare, but the spring (while secure) needed to be pulled out a bit."
Here's another guy who put the battery in backwards and got a permanent E4 error. They should have safeguards against that for $250-280 IMO. Is it completely their fault, nah. I'ma let 'em slide (this time):
PROVARI REPAIR ?
"Well i just had a look inside the mini Provari and on either side of the connector there is like a small standoff bridge type of thing which would stop the flat side of the battery from making contact.......unfortunately i had been using one of those small magnets on a flat top battery for another mod....and as well as not looking at what battery i was using...i had put the magnet on the bottom of the battery.....so when inserted it was making the connection. Ive just cleaned the contacts and tried other batteries and as soon as i press the button im getting the E4 error code 1.....think its fooked"
This issue was caused by user error. User not only puts a battery in backwards, but the battery had a magnet on it bypassing the mechanical safety feature that Provape builds into the Provari to prevent loading a battery backwards. Two user errors, if we want to be counting. Thank goodness the Provari's safety circuits still caused it to fail to fire and tried to tell the user he did something stupid by providing the error code.
Provape specifically warns not to use magnets. "The ProVari operates on a single battery. Never stack two batteries or use batteries that are not recommended for use in the ProVari. Never use magnets on your batteries. This is very dangerous." - Provape.
User resolves the issue himself.
"I've fixed it! Goodness knows how, I've just removed the plastic window and replaced it and it's started working again, although I wouldn't recommend removing the window, those screws are a bit pesky! I'm a happy, happy bunny."
"Well I got my new batteries + extension and after rinsing it with 91% alcohol and letting it sit for a couple days it's been working fine. I believe it may have been some sort of sweat from the fresh adhesive or just moisture from the extreme heat I was working in for the 2 days before it acted strange. ProVape was willing to honor a warranty on the upgrade work they did on the device but I was lucky enough to get it resolved without having to send it in." Issue resolved by user, repair not needed.
"Provape emailed me back and said to rinse my Provari out with rubbing alcohol and let it sit overnight to dry,So I did and IT WORKED..I dont know why but it worked..WOW." Customer service resolves issue by email, no need for repair.
Ok, this guy was an extremely high voltage vapor and doing frequent dry burns on low resistance atty's. He was getting error codes and when the Provari did work it was not putting out the set voltage. It was sent in to Provape for repair. It was repaired and sent back to the user in one day. And with a new replacement battery to boot. Great customer service.
"Tested it out and it works just fine! So anyways.. was told it was sent out the same day they received it. They also replaced the battery with a new one as well since the battery that was in it was damaged a little or something as the bottom of it was bowed out ward.
Great customer service as everyone mentions! Will order another so this time i'll have a backup just encase! hehe.
P.S. Was told to not do dry burns on the unit as its too hard on the booster chip."
"I got one of the batteries to work. I cleaned the nipple on it and it is making contact now! Awesome. I guess I need to get some new batts nipples must be getting worn out. But the Provari is now fireing great!"
User resolved issue himself. Older batteries, which the user was using in his new Provari, can build up a thin layer of corrosion on the positive end (nipple tips). Provape recommends in their user's guide to use alcohol to wipe battery contacts inside the Provari and the battery ends themselves on a weekly maintance schedule.
Some of these stories are downright despicable. Just sayin'... Maybe get the warranty.
Of the seven links that you provided, only two of those required the Provari's to be sent in for repair.
One of those was definitely caused by user error by putting the battery in backwards, and because he also had a magnet on the battery, it bypassed the Provari's built-in mechanical protection. Still, the protection circuits intentionally prevented the unit from firing, so I'd say the Provari did what it was intended to do in an unsafe situation.
The other one requiring onsite repair was completed in one day, and a defective battery was replaced. Was that Provape's fault? I don't see how, and one day repair service is pretty remarkable if you ask me.
The other five cases were either solved by the users by themselves (or advice from forum members) or by Provape's customer service by phone or email. One service call was actually done on a Sunday night.
So please explain to me how "Some of these stories are downright despicable."
The examples that
you provided seem to show me that most of the issues were user errors, and the two that required onsite servicing were done extremely expediantly and to the satisfaction of the customer. Maybe that is where some of expense of a Provari goes. As the saying goes, you don't get something for nothing.
