I know the feeling...been vaping 6 months now...and my purchases are getting more high end each month :)
The list so far in chronological order:
Keep in mind when I buy local it is in europe...and a bit more expensive than in US

eroll set: $65
evod set: $45
2 emow: $120
istick 20w and nautilus: $85
sig 75W TC: $90
2 SBT mini: $90
Sx mini M: $220
2 Kabuki: $300 (incl tax and shipment)
Xvostick and Merkava: $400 (incl tax and shipment)
Kayfun lite v2: $100

DIY liquid stuff: $400 (incl. 4 liters of base as stock)
factory liquids: $200
DIY coiling: $100
factory coils: $200
assorted cases, driptips, glasses, spare parts: $100
batteries and charger: $70

that's a whopping $2585 in 6 months....I smoked 4 packages a week which would have cost me about $850 over the same time....mmhh something is not right...I need to not buy anything in the next 12 months to break even.....like that's gonna happen, NOT
But I am pretty stocked up at the moment..so I will tune it down from now on....yes really I will :)

Now my girlfriend on the otherhand spend this:

eroll set: $65
evod set: $45
Istick and nauti: $85
Istick mini and GS16: $50

That's about $250...but to be fair half of the coils and liquid cost are hers....so that would make it $2100 vs $650

Where did it go wrong

Darren, before buying take a look at the Canvape site. Best prices in Canada for hardware that I have found and they are an ECF registered supplier. They carry the Squape r from EHpro for $40 which most say is the only good Squape r clone. They have the Ehpro Kayfun nano on clearance for $10. It is an easy build and works great, I just bought 4 of them.

Cool I will look at the Squape R, I just wanted something cheap last night to try building on and am pretty happy other than the coils are very small. This is the reading I am getting off it

I'm a registered COPD sufferer and I know that I should be trying to do everything I can to reduce my intake of anything other than air, however having been a smoker for over 40 years, I felt destined to feeling lethargic and virtually "on the scrapheap" before I discovered vaping. The financial cost has to be taken into consideration, but as I now DIY my juice, and I enter every giveaway and comp that I find online, I have amassed a "healthy" collection of devices. I looked at your costs and compared them to your smoking costs, and added in your health savings I would say your in a very healthy position. It is tempting to run out and buy the latest thing when it appears, but I always wait until I've seen half a dozen reviews (YT and forums) before deciding to make a purchase. I don't have any spare money as I'm a carer for my wife, however I still manage to enjoy vapemail most weeks. I go thru a lot more juice than I used to, but I don't feel stigmatised as I did as a smoker, and my health has plateaued. I do not appear to be getting any worse and my self-esteem has also increased. So comparing the cost? No contest. Vaping wins hands down. BTW, Kayfuns v3 and their variants are great devices for learning to build on - I have four and use them regularly.

Granted, it looks like a lot of money, but in the grand scheme of things, it probably is much cheaper than buying cigarettes.
The main question you need to ask yourself is, are the bills getting paid that need to get paid first? If yes, and you're still able to treat your wife, then who cares. Vaping is a hobby and a lifestyle-I say embrace it.

Errrrrrrrrgh!

I wasn't going to do the math, but I did.....

I've spent about $1500 in hardware (devices and toppers) over the past 19 months. I'm guessing $500-600 in DIY supplies since June 2014. Another $300-400 in store-bought juice. I'm guessing about $300 in wire and cotton and coils since May 2014. Probably about $200 in 18350s/18500s/18650s

I was a PAD smoker ($5/pack) and haven't bought a pack of smokes since the second week of March, 2014. I feel like I'm ahead of the money game now by at least a month, if not two. (I just ordered 40 coils, 6 batteries, 4 RDAs and 2 Nauti Minis, just in the last 2-3 weeks)

For me, everything is now gravy :)

Hmmm, I have a birthday coming up - perhaps I should get myself something SHINY!!!!

So true..it's becomming a hobby, and as such I am fine by it being a bit more costly..my other hobbies are quite cheap, and I need at least one expensive one :2cool: (for now..but I am sure it will become less so the comming months as I am all set up for now).
And luckily I can afford it and still pay the bills :banana:So all is good....:)

Good Day Everyone,

I quit smoking a year ago, went into my local vape shop and decided to try vaping. Got talked into buying an Kangertech EVOD kit. It was a great starting device, got banged up pretty quick but worked great. Less than a month after that I decided to get a new tank. I went with the Kangertech Aero, however I then found that the battery on the EVOD's did not really give off enough to support the tank. The next week I bought an EVOD battery with variable voltage to give me that extra kick, it worked great. I still wanted more. I bought an Aspire Premium kit with the Nautilus mini tank. This thing was great but the battery did not last more than half a day. I was carrying like 3 devices on me to get me through the day. 2 weeks after that I said I am buying my first mod. I bought a SMOK BEC Pro 50W with 2 18650 batteries, battery charger, plus the Aspire Nautilus. $350.00 later. However this was an awesome mod. It was like going from a KIA to a Porsche. You figured I would have stopped there. Well then I wanted something smaller to have at work, so I picked up a Joytech E Grip, worst device ever. 20W no tanks, battery life was ok but not great. Every coil always gave a burnt taste after about 10W, so I picked up the SMOK M65, at first these seemed to be a great device but then started getting battery issues, switched back to my BEC. Then came the EGO One, with an 2.5ml tank, this was ok, battery life again sucked and got it wet and wll that was the end of that. Then I discovered the KBOX Mini, well I figured that was the end of it for awhile, What a device. Swapping batteries was a breeze, one battery lasted all day. I could sub ohm and that was great till the leaks started. Bought another sub tank Mini still leaked. I bought a Sub Tank Nano, it just did not hold enough and still leaked. Purchased the Kangertech Plus, leaked. The Sub Box mini one day would not hold any of my tanks, I was so frustrated and decided to get a another MOD. I went with the EVIC VT (Black & Red) and a Aspire Atlantis. Great device, however I fished a lot and decided to also get the Heatvape Invader Mini, It is ok, battery life sucks but it is a good device other than that.

The question is am I the only one with this addiction?

Kangertech EVOD Kit = $85.00
Kangertech Aero Tank = $40.00
Kangertech EVOD Battery = $35.00
Aspire Premium Kit = $110.00
Apsire Nautilus= $60.00
SMOK BEC Pro 50W = $155.00
Joytech E-Grip = $60.00
SMOK M65 = $85.00
Joytech EGO One = $65.00
Joytech EGO One 2.5ml Tank = $25.00
Kangertech KBOX Mini = $99.00
Kangertech Sub Tank Mini = $40.00
Kangertech Sub Tank Nano = $30.00
Kangertech Sub Tank Plus = $60.00
Joytech Evic VT = $85.00
Heatvape Invader Mini = $99.00

Grand Total in Canadian = $1133.00 + Tax

This does not include coils, juice, extensions for tanks, covers for tanks, sleeves etc.

My wife would kill me if she knew!

Hi, my name is John,
I am vapoholic.

I have started vaping about almost two years back. But i was a very clumsy and really bad at taking care of my stuffs. My first purchase was the Kangertech Subox Mini. I got a black one because I love black. But i did not know there was a white. If not i would get a white one instead. Later into the clearo phase, i am loving every bit of this machine! Then at one point i learnt a few on the net and some tips from my cousin on how to do your own RBA. After that i got hooked up trying to make the perfect coil. So i purchased a 24g kanthal. Here buying a 3meter wire is just a waste because 3m is about 2-3$ and buying 10m+ is about 9-10$. So might as well stock up? Then i need cotton! I was eager to know why ORGANIC?? I used a sterilized surgical grade cotton. It was the worst and wasted buying the whole big bag of it. Then bought this japanese mushi organic whatchamacallit cotton. Bought the whole bag. It was on sale! Then when i started playing with my coils, 24g seems too big after researching and asking around. Ok, why not go 26g? Omg it is awesome! But i want more clouds and flavor, experimented with 28g. Then i found there is Nichrome, oooh shiny! Then titanium? Nickel?
After i maxed out my subtank, it time for me to try the annoying atty that i hated, descriminated and frown upon. The RDA section of the vape store. Found one with four posts, The Forge RDA by MCV Philipines. It was the BOMB! Made crazy coils out of em!! But then... My subox keeps saying "check battery". "Check Atomizer".
So i got better batteries. IMR LG Forgot the mah and amps, its in my kit bag, long time no use. Then... The batteries dont last long, i have to keep charging them. I have to keep dripping my rda to keep puffin!

Spent a fortune in Ace Hardware (Malaysia) precision screwdriver kit, a bag that looks like cruella's skinner's kit bag filled with knives and stuffs. Got my plyers and the whole shebang.

I neeed a mod now. Looking over the sigelei. 150watts with TC for nickel and Ti coils :w00t:

But it was out of stock.....

Got me an IPV4S instead. Still has all the goodies but less watty kicks. Ooooh, vape bands! Got a whole lot of em. Oooh! Drip tips!!! They glow!! Omg!!! Have em too... Oooh nice cilicone case! Gotta have that for "protection".

I am addicted to e-juices as well. Keep changing everyday.. I get bored vaping the same one all the time.. Then it came a time when my subtank mini was not good enough anymore.. All the drilling, the crazy coiling, crazy ideas and experiments. Went to the zeph... Loving it. Great vapes great flavor. Easy enough Rta. But then.... Maybe i should get another rda just incase inwanna build a bigger coil.. Needs more space. Got me the Goliath Octa.

Woke up in the middle of the night, thirsty and in need of a drink. Sipped some nice american bud. Gf walks down with undies and gives the green light. Went up and continue wicking last night's coil just incase i forget later before i go to work. Aint nobody got time fo dat in the office! Down goes the subtank mini (black). Went to the vape store, no stock..... Got me another subox mini (white).......

Hi, Darren! :)

I'm an evil nonconsumer; America dreads my type. I'm not cheap at all, but being an anticonsumer has been a political decision that I decided to make so I could vote with my money and buy the best quality non-GMO health food available. I went insane buying clothes at Harrods in London -- enough to last a lifetime and several I have not even worn. I did the same thing at Filene's and Filene's Basement in Boston when it was still open! I'm pretty much played out at this point. I still buy guitars and books, cd's and dvd's, though -- so maybe I am not all bad! I'm a musician and activist, and as a foodie and decorator I was described as "Martha Stewart on Mushrooms." I was sooo flattered, because I am not a Martha Stewart fan, I'm more like Anthony Bourdain -- if he were a woman.

I have been happy with my five batteries, some of which are Kangertech, and order my juice nicotine-free for only 3 bucks a jug. I stock up, knowing that any day now the prices might soar. I'm not a nut who thinks the world is coming to an end, even though it is. No debt and no regret. I feel very wealthy because I invested mostly in my ability as a composer and player. My husband and I are nonconformist by complete accident.

I think a person who vapes should have fun with the products out there if they are able -- especially the techies who make our world better. Just hide the receipts from your spouse -- he-he!!

thedeval: I laughed out loud for several minutes after reading your post! Refreshingly hilarious!!!

In 1.5 years I spent:
about $160 on still useful hardware.
about $100 on now useless hardware.
about $100 on coils/juice DIY
about $100 on nicotine (will serve me for at least 10 years)
about $30 on batteries

Total: not more than $500.
OK, I did not include $40 for my first kit - cigarlike; it was awful for vaping but useful educationally.
