Didn't like the time delay so I took 2 turns off each coil for a composite 0.4 ohms.
Time delay gone, but with 4.14V unloaded I get 3.44V loaded for a 0.7V drop. :(
Going to have to do a firing pin mod at the least to go with my fuse mod.

Told you dam kids to chill!

I just disassembled my RM2 & drilled out the posts for fun mostly; but also to make some room for Mundy's Magic. 6 wrap, crimped tight; farking delicious. Little slow, tho, at .8Ω. Think I'll pull a wrap. Yeah, and Mundy, now that I've got one scrunched, I'm getting some big poppage. Incredible flavor tho!

Took 21 foot (3 X 7ft) of ribbon to make 43 inches of magic this weekend and that was without any screw ups.
Measured the whole piece and it was 20.3 ohms for 5.665 ohms/ft or .472 ohms/inch.
The ribbon is 10.8 ohms/ft so almost a 2X reduction in resistance but with 3 pieces together.
So I got 60% more surface area per ohm than if not twisted and interlocked.

Should be at least 3 maybe 4 more joining us for fun within a week.
If the supplier of .6X.07 ribbon ever gets back from vacation I hope more.
Soon we will take over the world......Mah...Ha..Ha..Ha.

Sorry, momentary lapse of sanity.

Back to reality now.

I'd be lying if I said I have made my own at this point, but from what I can see it looks pretty durn good there! I need to get some ribbon ordered and make myself a pile of this stuff.

To answer a previously asked question: I have re-wicked and dry-burn cleaned the single coil I built about a week ago 2x now and it cleans up beautifully.

Ok my first attempt with .05 x .1 ribbon wire, wrapped out at 1.1 ohms...

How's this look?
Dan

Hey, nice to see you here Dan!
That looks pretty dang good!
I assume you meant .5 X .1 ?
I didn't get as good a results with .5 X .1 as I did with .6 X .07 but it was better than round or flat ribbon.
I tried .05 X .1 and didn't get anything that looks anywhere near as good as that!
If that is .05 X .1 I tip my hat to you and bow down.

Can you scan a small piece of it with a scanner at 1200 DPI?
I can tell you more with that kind of resolution.

Please let me know the results either way.

PS, mail goes out tomorrow. wink wink

I dry burn mine once or twice a day when I change wick(s) to change flavor.
(I like to do that a lot in case you didn't get it)

wink wink! :)

well, my 6 wrap quickly became a 3/4 @ .5Ω and I'm a happy camper!

But, the reason I write to you, gentlemen, is one of confusion. What's up with the resistance on this stuff? Am I just being stupid? ( . . .. don't)

If I do a 3/4 wrap and get .5Ω (or .4Ω on my other 3/4 wrap), then how come Xoxo gets to do a dual 4/5 and net the same? What kind of res. have you been getting, Mundy? (I recall that the initial #s you sent me with the sample pieces was also substantially higher than what I'm finding.)
