Almost a year vaping, what's the actual, factual "tale of the tape"?

I still lack 3 weeks or so but I won't be placing a juice order before then.

I just totaled up all my juice expenditures. Not really counting hardware because I have less
than $100 in and I still use all of it somewhat.

First, thanks to this forum and so many of you who PIF'd me along the way and helped make
this happen.

$380 with Ohm's. $120 with Halo (Menthols) and a couple Premium Watermelons.

$500 in juice.

Stinkies, None, but I Would Have bought 730 packs for a total of $2737.

So, just in dollars it's For Real for me, $500 to $2700.

had we still smoked we would've spent way more money... i think im saving 2-3k a year from not smoking... i barely buy stuff now since i have everything i pretty much need unless my mod breaks or DIY juice runs out (not for another year or two)

I've tracked every penny I spent on vaping, from the very first starter kit to the little scissors I just bought specifically for trimming cotton. In the first year I spent $566.22, just shy of half the $1148 I would have spent on cigarettes in that time at about four packs per week.

Plus a lot of what I did spend hasn't gone "up in smoke." I have a few different tanks and mods that will continue working for a long time, and roughly two years' worth of nicotine stored in my freezer, so even for spending less than half as much, I still have a lot more to show for it.

I stopped keeping track after a month or so.... Back when I started and stopped keeping track in 2013, I was spending about a 1/3 of what I would spend on smoking in a month on vaping.... Before moving to DIY, I cut it down to about 1/6 of the monthly smoking spending.... Now, I only try to buy when I need to replenish supplies or when there's a sell on something I've been looking at.... My last big purchase was 5 months ago, around $70....

I'm in the positive, but I don't know where the extra money is....

Easier to pay bills, maybe going out to eat a bit more, being able to afford things that you want/need... at least that is the case for me

I look at it as an ROI and being a Non-Smoker is priceless.

Now since I am getting ready to start DIY adding up the cost to buy the starter kit is going to result in more savings if I am successful and not flushing multiple ML's of base, nicotine and flavorings.

If I only stuck to Hawk Sauce in 236mL bottles, two will last around 18 months. Each costs around $40 all in from Mt. Baker. Doubt I spend over $160 annually, grant and extra $40 as a buffer, might spend $200 annually. The annual cost is inclusive of hardware, wire, wick, mods, batteries.

Using cigarettes, I would likely spend $2,000 - $5,000 annually inclusive of ashtrays, lighters, matches. The modest vaping I do only costs roughly one tenth of cigarettes. So, I cut around 90% of costs and improved health by 95%.

Yesterday, at a doctor visit my blood oxygen content was 95%. I'm told 80% is what is considered fair to good. Having extra time with my wife, critter family from better health is priceless.

This is my observations after about two years into vaping. I'm now getting into squonking and aim to reduce hardware cost drastically. May get into some DIY juicing which furthers cost reductions as well. Of course, vaping unflavored juice is also a cost effective option.

is an emergency vehicle.

Thanks to a bulk supply in DYI juice and getting the one new mod I got last year as a birthday present my total vaping expenses for 2015 came out to a grand total of just $85.

That's going to go up a little this year. I'll spend a little bit on DYI flavoring and have bought an RX200 and batteries. I'll probably finish out the year with less than $250 spent.

I hear the DIYers quoting .10 a mil. If I catch a coupon at Ohm's I can rock in around .19 a mil. I order enough usually to wrangle free shipping and it's In My Mailbox Three Days after I order it. All in all, that works Too Well for me to "bother" with DIY, at least right now.

$0.10 per ml is a LOT more than I pay to DIY. I pay about $0.02 per ml. Nearly a tenth of what you spend.

I did the math before I jumped into DIY, at the time. If I bought in bulk to last the 10 years a liter of 100mg nic would last me (including the cost of nic) my liquid would be a drop over a dime a day....
But that wasn't realistic for me, and it didn't take into account different flavorings, shipping, and changes in use or strength....

A dime a day beats the cost a pack a day....

My DIY is nowhere near that low, but it's still better than buying it already mixed....

Morely, I do not know who told you about the Pulse Oxygen level being that low but 88 is what Medicare requires for a level to get Oxygen at home.

I quit for Health and Family, not funds. Still, I get to try out any new mod/tank/flavor I wish and still purchased a Nice used Maxima for my wife.

Now that is something I stopped wasting money on, new cars.
Got 9 years out of a used Aerostar under $1500.
Got 8.5 years out of a used Ranger under $1000.

I been vaping only for abit and DIY since I joined here. My costs to DIY are 2-3 cents and for a year I only vaped one thing. Lately I've found a love for custards which caused me to invest a further 12 bucks for the year in flavor.

On gear I've spent a good bit. I don't keep track but even with NY taxes I doubt I'm breaking even. I wouldn't say I buy anymore stuff then a year ago but its safe to say what I buy these days costs more then before.
