Am I the only Non Smoker

I also agree with 420. I vape zero nic for the act of smoking and for the yummy flavors. I would never dream of smoking an analog if I didn't have my vaping supplies with me. I'd just do without. I am an ex-smoker. I quit over 15 years ago and I celebrate that every year on the anniversary of my quitting. Even though it has been so many years since I quit I have always missed the act of smoking. Ecigs and zero nic have allowed me to enjoy the act of puffing and blowing smoke without the nicotine addiction. ;)

Bingo!! again Elfyn I agree with you. I too am an ex-smoker, I quit 5 years ago this March 31st after over 35 years of being a smoker. I took up vaping, -0- nic, just a couple of weeks ago. I missed the "act" of smoking, the comfort of an old companion so to speak. I am also hoping to get my sis to become comfortable with vaping in order to help her get off analogs. (I've taken a hit from her nic carts... WHEW!!! I won't be doing that often!! 8-o and yes I can see how the addiction to nicotine can take hold again).
As to the OP, his decision to vape is a personal decision and hopefully he will stay with -0- nic. Welcome to the forum!!

That's why these were invented, to give smokers an alternative to the deadly addiction to smoking. You are actually one of the reasons that the FDA wants to ban the PV. One of their reasons is that these will lead people to smoking cigarettes.

Now please don't take this as a personal attack on you, it's just that this is such a life changing device for all of us and we don't want anything to prevent us from using it.

Could not agree more. This is what gives the FDA fuel for their fire.

What fuels the FDA's "fire" is not making money from e-cig sales. They garner a profit from Big Tobacco, therefore anything that threatens Big Tobacco threatens the FDA. E-Cig sales will eventually start to hit Big Tobaccos profits.......therefore hitting the FDAs cut of those profits.
If the FDA cared what harmed us....or who is choosing to use those harmful things, Tobacco companies would have been put out of business long ago. The FDA does not care for you or your safety.........The FDA cares about profit.

420Smiles, I totally agree with your statement. I don't think that anybody would disagree. Since at this point the FDA is not receiving any monetary gain nor are the tobacco company's, there is nothing more that they would like to see is having PV's regulated by them or have them banned all together. If they, the FDA, are not getting their piece of the pie, then they don't want anyone else to have it. But at the same token, some of the issues being brought up by the FDA for reasons to ban ecigs is that non-smokers will be drawn to the ecig and minors as well. And the non-smokers will eat that up. Not to mention that lately, there have been quite a few non-smokers, and not just here on ECF, that are asking about the ecig because of its "novelty" to them. Another toy and it is not. I do not want to see the ecig jeopardized because of this. This has been my only way to quit smoking after 34 years and I do not want to see it go up in "smoke".

Yep, still with 420. :) That non-smokers might begin using the device, or that it's (my personal favorite) "for the children," are only arguments used to sway the public, just like those arguments are used in every money/power grab.

It could just as easily be argued that a non-smoker who begins vaping would have begun smoking had vaping not been an option.

And, do we truly believe that vaping is safe, or at least no more dangerous than drinking too many sodas, eating fast food, etc.? If so, what does it matter if a non-smoker wants to vape 0 nic?

I totally agree with 420.

Doing something, anything...is a choice. I hardly think a non-smoker is going to stick a NASTY tasting analog in their mouth just because they ran out of some very tasty liquids. I just cannot even imagine.

I'm a beer drinker that occasionally has vodka or tequilla. I've had a bottle of Gin in my cabinet for over 2 years that's left over from a party I had.
When Gin is the only thing in my cabinet I certainly am NOT going to drink it because it's gross.

I also have a bunch of beedies from Saudi Arabia, had them when I was a smoker but I didn't smoke them when I ran out of cigarettes because they are nasty (to me).

When I run out of toilet paper I certainly don't use my towels.

When I run out of spinach I don't use grass from the yard.

I know you'll all have something to say about my analogies...but it is what it is, just an analogy. I'm sure we could all come up with 100's of them.

To the OP, I think it's great that you found this. You smoke hookah so it's even more understandable that you've come to find PV's a great way of delivering flavor to your mouth with 0 nicotine. :)

Have fun with it and let us know how you like it!

Oh and welcome to ECF! :)

Based on the posts I keep reading I have come to this conclusion.......

People who huff cleaning products have now made it wrong for us all to clean our houses cause the FDA needs to ban cleaning solvents.

We all need to give up driving, cause Gasoline should be banned. People huff gasoline to get high.

Can you see what I am trying to say??..........

People will always find a way to use stuff in ways OTHER than the way the product is intended. That doesn't mean we as people don't have the right to use those products.

Kids will always want to do what other people say they can't do. Tell a kid that doing his homework is illegal, and I'll bet you he has straight A's on his Report Card. That is how kids are.....not "Todays Kids".....I'm talking about ALL kids.

I'm a non-drinker. I mean I NEVER drink now. Have I ever drank? Yes. But just because I chose not to now does not mean I can just walk in the bar and demand that others not enjoy their beers. That would just be stupid.

I really don't see what the problem is, if someone is a non-smoker and wants to try vaping why not?

We all have plenty of bad habits and vices and it seems a shame to not try one more. Why should we get to hog them all up?

Don't you ecf vets hate me for bringing up this and adding a bit more confusion to the mix but I would also add that should said non-smoking vaper have a history of Parkinson's disease in the family it may not be too shabby an idea to look at the effects of nicotine on Parkinson's disease and consult with a doctor to see if adding nicotine to your body is such a terrible idea.

Am i way off base and a terrible person for suggesting this or what?

Parkinson's Disease: Nicotine Reduces Levodopa-induced Dyskinesias

"Most of the research on tobacco has focused on its detrimental health effects. Studies conducted over the last 40 years show that the incidence of Parkinson's disease is about 50 percent less in smokers than in the general population."

At this time, our rights as ecig users are under the microscope and being scrutinized by the FDA and other organizations. They of course use every tactic to sway the public no matter if it is fact or fiction. The FDA is not going after McDonald's and Pepsi right now and are safe at this point. However, I do not want to see ecigs banned or regulated and don't think that non-smoker's should be encouraged to vape even if it is with 0 nic.

I think we have to look at the original question from the OP. her/his question was pretty clear and really wasn't looking for whether or not we think it's OK to vape if you're a non-smoker. He/she is a grown (wo)man.

No one here is encouraging him, he has already made up his mind. :)

That's the great thing about our country...:thumb:

Your rights as a person standing on this huge mudball we call Earth is being put under a microscope and being scrutinized by all types of agencies. Racists (no matter if we agree with them) do it to other races. Big Businesses do it to small business owners. You do it. I do it. We all have trivialized something or someone. Your right as a vaper is no more important than Albert Pikes right to start the KKK. What is important is that we all start to understand that your body is YOURS....and what YOU chose to do with YOUR body is YOUR business. I'm not gonna take away ANYBODIES right to vape (smoker/ non-smoker) based on what the FDA says. They approve cigars and cigarettes FULLY KNOWING the health risks involved. This isn't about health........It IS about money.

There is a *huge* difference between encouraging a non-smoker to vape and accepting an adult's decision to vape. The OP also has the right to make his own decisions. I will never tell someone he shouldn't do something merely because it might cause the tyrants to take away my rights.

The FDA is not after McDonald's and Pepsi right now because they already control every single ingredient they're allowed to put in their products. They're just after making their playing field a little bit bigger, and safety and individual choices don't have a thing to do with it.

Hey I'm all for personal freedom and choice. If someone really wants to start vaping then they should, but I would advise against it and don't think it's smart. Especially right now while we are fighting to keep the right to vape I think that nonsmokers that pick up vaping hurt our cause and the perception to other nonsmokers.

The OP is 40 and a nonsmoker. Her family and friends then know her as a nonsmoker. If now they see her out and about puffing on her PV I think that a lot of those people will think worse of these than if it were a former smoker. I'm sure some would see this as just another addictive drug that should be banned. Maybe those people would feel that way anyway, but seeing nonsmokers pick up this habit will not help us out in any way.

Spaky....based on your last post.........a non-smoker should not take up vaping soley based on the ignorance of other people. Other people ASSUME the OP is smoking, therefore the OP should not be a walking advertisment for a safer alternative to smoking? So we should quit being safer based on other peoples perseptions? Cause they still look at me like I'm smoking...........so I too should quit vaping?

If I did quit vaping.....the only other options I have to quit smoking are shelling out money to companies who give the FDA money to approve drugs like Chantix.....so see, it always goes back to the FDA making that money.

It's easy enough to point out that a) there are no addictive substances in 0 nic liquid, and b) just about every single non-smoker in this country is a regular user of the substances in 0 nic liquid since those ingredients are all present in the food they eat.

Hey I'm all for personal freedom and choice.
I guess you missed this part. Maybe you should quit having the 420 smiles.:D Not an attack, just jealous cause I have a job interview tomorrow so no 420 smiles for me.:D

Also I'm not talking about people thinking she's smoking, but people knowing that she is a nonsmoker that now appears to be "addicted" to an ecig.
