How are you punching the cartos for these? Or more to the point how big is the hole with the 1.7 dc cartos? I've read a ton... And I mean a ton. About the subject of punching cartos. Even practiced on some dead ones for now. Just some quick and dirty tips about how the owners of these fine tanks molest their cartos into vaping bliss.

Just a few more days till I get my tanks. Than a week or 2 till I get the Odysseus. Just need to keep sane till christmas and I'll be set.

Ps: I thought waiting for my provari would be the worst wait ever. But no sadly. Haven't had it for a month and I found things I wanna screw onto it that have me going insane waiting.

/rant over.

Edit: deleted my quote. Read the post over and I'm not sure why I thought p0ps post clarified or added anything to this post. I guess I just thought a quote from p0p would add legitimacy to my otherwise ranty 4am Post.

Why didn't I think of using a saddle valve...well played and thanks for the tip! Punching E2's seems a bit more difficult than with my "Cheapie" carto's so I have been using my dremel with a diamond engraver to drill a hole...Honey - put on your sunday best...we're going to sears!

I use a 1/4" saddle valve. They connect the refridge's ice line to a water line (plumbing section). Tighten the carto in place. Screw down the piercing part until you feel it break through. Then another half or 3/4 turn. If you go too far, you can puncture the inner sleeve, which is really easy to do with the 1.7s.

The actual size of the hole doesn't matter much. The dry fibers and your inhale's pressure will draw the juice into the carto.

How many holes, 2 or 4? I tried the dremel and "slotting". Even with only 1 slot, got flooding and gurgling... :(

Good afternoon Fish

Fish, I just bought an actual jig made for punching with that said the first run of Subs had 3 holes and worked like a charm IMO but with the jig I tried 2 holes and that also works awesome not sure how much help that is but be careful not to go to deep or it will fail and flood thehangdude is spot on with his suggestion with the saddle valve IMO

Ty for the tips, i know about not puncturing the inner sleeve, i think ive actually burnt a hole in a few of mine, either that or i was just being way too diligent about topping off. So, anyone here have specific info or tips for the 1.7 ones?

Im using resurrector cartos from CCV and i really like them, i dont see how dual coils can be THAT much better, i do however see how they can be a bigger PITA. Ive heard looser filling means you dont need as big a hole?

PS: can i stop editing my posts for spelling and grammar in this Subform please, its killing my post time and taking away from my vape time. :vapor:

Having now had a chance to try the 1.7's from CCV I can say this: I don't see much difference. I still prefer the DCC's, though, since the individual coils are at 3.2 ohms--that means I can be a lot "harder" on the carto and not worry about it. Pop in a couple 3v batteries for a bit o' 6v vaping? No problem with the DCC's (been doing that for a while now) but it's likely to pop the 1.7's. If the DCC is getting dry on you, just give a quick draw without firing and it will syphon a bit more juice out of the tank.

So far the biggest difference I've seen is that with the DCC's I've vaped it until the filler seemed dry with no noticeable affect on taste or vapour while I keep getting a dry/burnt taste on the resurrector even when the filler looks saturated. It's counter-intuitive, but it's been my experience.

@Pwyll, My comments about DCC were only directed at a DCC with the same ohms, changin the resistance is a whole 'nother ballgame.

@P0P, Ty your the best, Mom and Pops vapor shop Made my day, Court at 9am, DMV at 11:30am. So say the very least, if the DMV Person that helped me had 1/100th the Customer service M&P Has, i wouldnt have had to bite my tongue, and resist the VERY strong urge to reach over the counter and explain why actions hurt alot more than harsh words.

I went home after that and got the greatest gift of all this day ( Other than getting my Drivers Lisence Sorted ) Which was the package from M&P. With a sample of divine smelling juice. and a hand written note on my invoice. let me say that again. Someone at M&P cares enough about me, and my request, To make a Hand written note on my invoice.

I cant adequately express in words how much that means to me, the consumer.

Lastly, The tanks are perfect. I assembled one with black o rings. Using Plain VG as Lube. And let me tell you, it took so much lube it would make Ron jeremy blush. Using the metric-Fton of information of info here about tanks. I can say my first go went hassle free and flawless. The thumb screw actually has a more important role than easy filling. easy equalization of pressure within the tank.

And to top everything off today, i had a sever episode of vertigo yesterday. Doc says its more than likely viral. And not to worry too much. If it takes more than a few more days to clear call yadda yadda. So im laid up here in bed with my favorite forum, vaping to my hearts content.

As I do not accept hearsay as information, I have decided to test a 1.7 resurrector at 6v. In the interest of full disclosure, here is my initial assessment:

I popped in two freshly-charged Tenergy LiFePO's (metered at 3.36 and 3.35 off the charger, respectively) and took a drag. I was fully expecting a *pop* and lack of vapour somewhere on the first drag, but didn't get it. The flavour is bright and clean (a little cleaner than on 3.7 it seems, but that may just be me) and vapour production is expectedly more than at the lower voltage. It still hasn't popped, and though I've only been vaping it for about five minutes so it's still possible, I don't see it as "likely" as I did before actually trying it.

The flavour seems a bit cleaner than the 1.6 DCC, but I just opened the resurrector last night and the DCC's had three tanks (over 10mls) pushed through it at 6v in the past week--so that's not really a fair comparison. I still prefer the DCC's for the simple fact that they are now available as "shorties" and I prefer the lower profile.

I still have no idea how one could be a bigger PITA than the other, though--both are fibre-filled steel tubes using a resistance coil to create heat. Functionally, I find no difference. As far as the fine details, I will have to pit new against new on the same or similar device--that kind of testing will have to wait until I get to Texas and have some spare time. At this point, though, I really don't see more than niggling differences between them and those may be due entirely to the fact that I have not been able to test them on compleatly equal terms yet.

I still have reservations about the longevity of the 1.7's in a HV application due to their construction--but theory does not always equate to reality, so we will see how that turns out.

Wow ty for the mini experiment. and as far as being more trouble. i say that for 2 reasons. 2 coils to keep wet means more worry, not that it means any functional difference :?: Dunno. The second is the provari 2.5 amp limit. Most reviews seem to point out a minimal difference at best when you pump it to reasonable voltages. So Idk, ill have some at some point and ill report back if i remember. But for right now. Odysseus and gold plating a few things is first priority.

Black Chrome Provari, Plated top cap, Extended Bottom Cap, Gold Plated Odysseus, Gold Plated Super T Whistle.

Cant see that looking Bad :vapor:

I don't understand what you mean. The Dual Coil Cartos achieve their 1.6 ohm resistance by running Dual 3.2 ohm Coils in parallel--that's how they get their name. The Resurrectors have a single 1.7 ohm coil. The only way you could change the resistance would be to take them apart and rebuild them with different coils. Frankly, that just doesn't seem worth the effort on a $2 cartomizer ;)

Ah. So far, in my short experience with the 1.7's, they've actually been harder to keep wet. I speculate that since the single coil is having to work twice as hard for the same effective heat, it's burning through the surrounding juice faster.

It's like trying to boil two quarts of water in one two-quart pan on a single burner as opposed to two one-quart pans on two different burners--you have to have that one burner set much higher in order to boil two quarts of water in the same amount of time as boiling one quart.

Still, my time with the 1.7 rezzie has been very short so nothing is really "conclusive" at this point.

What i mean is, to qualify my comment. i was making it assuming all resistances being equal, i actually haddnt thought about the effect of higher ohm Duals. Though i think theres still provari issues there. Good food for thought there.

I guess my only point really being, happy as hell with Resurrectors. DCC might be better for me Might not. Cant say yet, as to be honest all the cartos ive had are Resurrectors. BUT what i can say, is the Odysseus will Make them all look like childs toys ( Opinion here, been looking for a good rebuild-able, Luckily i diddnt pull the trigger before hitting the GG Subform )
