Not too familiar with mechs. Is this a hybrid ?

Too difficult to tell from that pic, and the piece doesn't mention any specifics about what he was using. It does look like one of the sub tanks though. and it possibly could be a mech. If that is the complete length of it though, it looks like it was an 18350 mech, and I would personally never use an 18350 battery with a sub ohm setup. Not too familiar with mechs. Is this a hybrid ?
did you watch the video, the battery they showed seemed to be a 18650, although the battery itself didn't seem damaged !?Too difficult to tell from that pic, and the piece doesn't mention any specifics about what he was using. Maybe, in the interests of meaningful statistics, the FDA would appreciate incident reports for each of our incident-free days.
I didn't watch the video, was judging from the still of the video that appears when I click the link. There is a vented battery in the image and the bottom is missing from the mech, and that's the angle they show. The battery looks like it might have been purple, so possibly an efest, but it's very hard to tell. If they show in intact battery later it's most likely just a representation. I'll watch the vid when I get a chance.did you watch the video, the battery they showed seemed to be a 18650, although the battery itself didn't seem damaged !?

"At this point, there are no regulations on e-cigarettes, but if you have an incident with one you can report it to the FDA by calling 1-800-FDA-1088 or by filling out an online form."

Correct me if I'm wrong.
But aren't All 18650 Batteries designed to Vent from the Positive End of the Battery? The End we point at our Mouth. And don't Most Mech Mods have Venting Holes on the Other End of the Mod at the Switch.
As in all such applications of force, the weakest part will determine direction - here it looks like the end cap was the weakest, even though the positive/nipple end of the batt vents - basically pushing the batt downward if that's the weakest point in the mod.
The Reason I mentioned how a Battery is Designed to Vent is because if the Battery Swells, the 510 End of a Mech Mod is going to contain Vented Battery Gases.
So it would seem like that would be a Good Place to have some Vent Holes. But I have seen Very Few Mech Mods that have Vent Holes at the Atomizer End of a Mech Mod.

Well not really unless you want hot vented gas sprayed directly into your face. The best would be to have venting tunnels the full length of the inside of tube exiting through bottom holes, that way even if the battery did swell it would not cut off the gases causing the violent explosions we see now.
I
Well, that would have to be on the sides at the top since the tank is going to cover anything on the very top. And this was a Mech mod, if not a hybrid. Various scenarios can happen as related here on the thread at reddit for those not knowledgeable on hybrids and Mechs....
And another one blows his face off with a subohm tank on a mechmod • /r/electronic_cigarette
Yeah, it's pretty hard to tell from the side, but that looks like a standard top cap to me.It really doesn't look like a hybrid mod though with that top cap.
