A carto tank cannot perform as well as a quality RBA/RDA. To say otherwise is a lack of understanding. Someone may prefer a carto tank but that is all it is, a preference. When discussing performance in flavor, vapor, and vapor density it isn't even close.

I don't think anyone was under the assumption that a carto tank is equivalent to a kayfun...

It's the cheap clearos, kanger, vivi nova, etc that carto tanks primarily compete with for market share, and, having wxperienced quite a few of both, I gotta say the carto tank still wins that fight.

Greater capacity vs all. It the biggest of clearos,
Similar flavor, vapor, and th to the best clearos when they are working at their best,
Better consistency, less futzing to archive the quality of vape,
Better longevity out of a carto than a coil head
Equivalent prices for carto or coil heads

The carto tank wins vs clearos. Maybe the new nautilus can unseat a good carto tank, but with the very spotty qc on coil heads makes me doubt it. Cartos have a lower dud rate too...

I never understood how anyone could be satisfied by a carto in or out of a tank. Had to take long draws to get little vapor, flavor almost completely muted except for the dirty sock flavor of the filler. Keep upping the power trying to get a decent vape it would burn the filler. Why anybody is using carto's today is even more of a mystery. With Clearo's that are leaps and bounds better and no fiddle means they are perfect for newbies. Then you have rebuildable tanks like Kayfun's, carto's need to go to the grave yard. They sucked then, they suck now, and will suck in the future. A 510 atty with blue foam in the cart was a better vape and that is from the early day's of e-cigs.

With that said... if a piss poor vape keeps you off the analogs that is all that matters :laugh:

Obviously, the reason we use cartos is because our experience is nothing like yours.

Not only is vaping highly subjective....but what liquid you use, what brand cartos/clearos you use, how you clean, fill, and vape , etc all play a HUGE role in the outcome.

For me, I use IBTanked carto tanks, with 2.0ohm BOGE cartos that are SLOTTED, instead of punched. They work FANTASTIC.....and I can get vapor on par with clearos....and much better tasting.

Also, once you find a carto tank setup you LIKE, and it hits and tastes like it SHOULD, you have the added bonus of not having to replace coils/fiddling/filling, etc. Of course, you still have to replace the carto occasionally, but MUCH, MUCH less than you'd replace a coil. You still have to fill, but carto tanks use FAR less e-liquid then clearos waste.

I can chain vape between 2 IBTanked carto tanks ALL DAY, and not worry about refilling except for maybe once every 3 days, and not worry about replacing cartos excepet maybe once every 9-15 days. On my pro tanks, I was going through a tank a day easily, and a coil every 3-5 days.

Vaping isn't JUST about flavor, vapor, "vapor density", etc. It is also about convenience, preference, ease of use, etc. RBA's serve a specific function in the vaping world, just as carto tanks do, and just as clearos do.

It would be highly ignorant to say RBA's are better than cartos, or vice versa. That would be like saying one sport is better than the other.....it is all about what YOU, as a vapor, WANT.

RBA's offer the possibility of honing in on the flavor of e-liquids, producing heavy vapor, and allow for high customization.

Clearos, to me, are the middle ground between RBAs and carto tanks.

Carto tanks require more than clearos to initially set up, but once they are set up, you can leave them alone and let them do their thing. Carto tanks also provide the user with far more consistency than clearos and RBA's are capable of. The overall consistency of carto tanks is what makes them shine. No other delivery devices on the market have been able to match the consistency that carto tanks provide.

Personally, I think carto tanks, clearos, and RBA's ALL have their place. The reason all 3 are in the market in the first place is to satisfy the different options people who vape are looking for.

I honestly can NOT imagine one of those 3 replacing any of the other in the future. I think carto tanks, clearos, and RBA's ALL have a huge part of the future of vaping, and ALL will continue to be improved.

At some point, you will probably see a device that is a blend of all 3. They probably already have that :) and yet no matter what, you will always see distinct examples of those 3 types of setups, far into the future.

I'm a pretty big noob, but I'll offer my experience.

I picked up an ego-c twist/iclear16 starter kit a couple months ago. After learning a bit, I actually bought another ego-c twist and switched to using protank mini IIs. My setup is very portable, and produces great clouds of vapor.

I am happy with my setup. If I want to learn to rebuild the heads on my tank, I can. But it is just as convenient to buy them. Point is, I don't see myself switching to a RBA/RDA and mech anytime soon. I am barely ever home and can't imagine having something bigger and harder to maintain in my pocket. So I have my corner of the vape market, which may not be for everyone, but I enjoy the most quality vapor I can get for the convenience. I think Protanks are great.

It's like cars. I like mine to start and get me from place to place. I don't worry about my horsepower or change my own oil. Same with my vaping. I don't mind paying a little extra for a better quality product, but, it doesn't matter to me if I can break it down and rebuild it. It works great when I buy it.

Cartos and cartotanks do have their own learning curve. The biggest thing is getting the carto primed right, and realizing that there will be an occasional bad one.

The setup I'm running right now seems to be happier with the tank at least half full, and if I give it some unfired pulls here and there (which means it would probably benefit from another hole or two in the carto, but I have yet to buy a punching tool).

Not to fan the flames, but I've been around some seriously hardcore rebuildable people, and I've even tried the ones they wrapped for me (they were insistent on me going rebuildable), dropped the nic, everything, AND it may just be me, but I could always taste an "off" taste. I've been vaping my favorite juices in cartos for over a year now, and even though everyone told me a Genesis-style or a Kaifun or an Igo-W would make my favorite flavors pop... I tried them, and they were off. Either it was a slightly metallic taste in the Genesis-style, or just a general mute, slightly off taste in a cotton wrap with a Kaifun... I'm not a GoodNews! level sort of super-taster, but they just tasted... different. I'm not knocking it by any means, I'm just admitting it wasn't for me and leave it at that.

I would like to say that after two years i an everyone I know personally is indeed still using cartomizer tanks. I have to also note that I have a virtual arsenal of the cream of the crop at my disposal because of affiliations and cartomizer tanks still rule the day.

It is my own belief that finding no love in a cartomizer tank begins with not properly setting one up. This is crucial and without it as with any vaping device failure is eminent. Once properly set up which is easy by the way it is tough to beat once you add up the time and dollars.

It doesn't work like that, IMO. You don't hear from the carto tank crowd all that much, but there is still a large one out there. Simple reason; with a carto tank, there are a lot fewer variables to deal with, so folks find their formula and pretty much are good. No rebuildi g, no getting a new wick to work with a new juice, just fill and vape. If you want fire and forget, relatively trouble free vaping, carto tanks are that. The downside is that you can't rebuild and rewick to fine tune your vaping, and that's where the rba / rda appeal comes in. Rebuildables also usually provide more intense flavors and throat hits with bigger clouds, so some have switched for those reasons. Carto tanks will probably never die, simply because they are consistant, satisfying, and easy to manage.

This is all completely correct. You don't hear from the cartotank crowd because we don't have any problems to gripe about on the forum. BTW, there is the sophia rebuildable cartomizer to play with if you want to do rebuildables with your cartotank

EDITED because the forum thinks B*TCH is a bad word
