Love to keep them guessing and wondering if they know me, or whatever LOLAt first I was...but I quickly dropped feeling that way.
I started with the Blu cig...which mirrored a cig.
Once I found out I didnt like that thing..moved to a black Joye 510....still cig looking, but people thought I was smoking clove cigs.
After finding issues with the 510 (battery life) I moved to Egos, which are noticeably bigger.
Now..I get stares. But the device works a ton better for me so I brush off the stares.
Now...when people (smokers) come up to me and say something.... here is what I do...
I walk up to them and say "I vape for many reasons....one of which" as I walk up and take a couple loud sniffs.... and finish with... "atleast Im no longer a smoker"
That usually stops the issues...and even sometimes starts a conversation with them about what vaping is all about.

If you substitute the word "vaping" with the phrase "lawfully open carrying a handgun", I could point you to reports on forums by people I personally know in NC, WV, PA and VA who have this EXACT same story, times a couple hundred over the last 5 years.
But in those states, where Free People are actually free, we (the 2A activist community) has, through lawsuits, court cases and media action, educated the police and much of the public that wearing a gun openly in public is 100% legal for a law-abiding citize to do.
Through normalization, education, litigation and legislation, the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is at it's strongest in most states today--DESPITE the lies, propaganda and outright criminal actions of people like the Clintons, Sara Brady and Josh Sugarmann.
Vapers need to study the tactics of the pro-Second Amendment movement, the Civil Rights movement of the 1950s, and the art and science of propaganda. Read EVERYTHING you can get your hands on by a guy named Edward Bernays (the father of Public Relations in the US). Read up on Civil Disobedience. Know the statutes in your State and locality regarding smoking, vaping, private property law and recording in public. And ESPECIALLY familiarize yourself with your Fourth Amendment and Fifth Amendment rights.
And don't be afraid to use your video camera ANY time an LEO even looks like they might approach you. For some strange reason, the dash cams in police cruisers always seem to malfunction when they are harassing people outside their legal authority, or when they try to coerce people into giving up their rights (4A, 5A specifically).
This is NOT a game people. Your right to Vape is under attack--not just by anti-smoking groups, Big Pharma and Big Tobacco, but by nosey neighbors, sociopathic busy-bodies, and petty bureaucrats.
Go to local Vape Meets. Go to the big, officially announced Cons and Fests. Join CASAA and other vape-related organizations. Stay informed about what your elected official (state and local) are doing with regards to Vaping. Show up for public hearings--if not to testify, at least to be a supportive body in the gallery. Contact your elected "officials" and let them know that if they don't suport vaping, you won't support them.

hahaha it happened to me one time when a group of guys stared at what i'm putting in my mouth.. i stared back at them and stared at my e-cig having, look at them again, look back at e-cig, probably repeated this for 4 times then vape my stuff and walk away.. leaving them guessing "what is that thing" hihihihi...
This is an issue that has me REALLY concerned where I live. I live in Maryland, near Baltimore and Washington DC. In this part of the country, LEOs have a long and well-documented record of "shoot first ask questions later". I'm just WAITING for a vaper to get beaten, tazed, or even (god forbid) shot by some overzealous, paranoid LEO who thinks his Provari or Merlin is some sort of zip gun or remote-control detonator or something.
Hopefully it will never happen, but unfortunately--with the paranoid, fear-based, confrontational "Us vs. Them" sort of training LEOs are getting these days from the Feds--it's just a matter of time before some innocent, law-abiding Vaper becomes the next unnecessary victim of the "War Of Terror" against the American People.
In other words, it's not a question of "if" this will happen. It is a matter of "when". And I predict the "Where" will be in Chicago, DC, NYC or LA or one of their immediate suburbs...

I take my Provari with me everywhere on the rare occasion I get asked what the **** is that! I tell them it's a vaporizer that helped me quit smoking in three days! It's also a great way to help educate the public! 
Hi searching, I truly vape in public places for that reason, I want people to question me!!!!!!!!!!! The more questions they ask, the more positive vaping is! It's an answer for all smokers, and we all have a friend or loved one that we want to stop the butts, this is a smokers dream come true! Be informed, knowledgable, and excited...about vaping, pass the word as much as you can, and espically tell people DONOT buy mall sold "so called e-cigs", they will turn people off to e-cigs , as they are garbage.. No doubt since I have had to chase a mailman down twice now. Long story short, three mailboxes in our building, no keys for any of them. Two are marked vacant one has the lock removed. Regular mailman knows to leave all mail in open box. New people open whole unit and put mail in the boxes NO ONE HAS KEYS FOR! Now there is duct tape with a sign over main key hole stating Do Not Put Mail In Main Box Put All Mail In Box A.
Will probably have to chase mailman down again at some point. I'm beginning to know them all by now.
It used to bother me but not really anymore. I only vape in areas where you can smoke though unless they say its ok. I try to be respectful you know. If someone is curious they will ask and I will explain and if they are really interested I will let them know how to get started and point them in the right direction. The more public awarness the better it is for the future of vaping.
There are actually a lot of people here and San Diego trying it now so I don't get a lot of strange looks. I do get a lot of questions though. During my last smoke break yesterday the smokers were pretty impressed that I could vape while they were all smoking around me. now they are interested in trying it out theirselves..
This side of the world some of the people is stubborn. I got so many complaining if I vaping infront of cig smoker at work place. What I do is I get few of my close friend to test my e-cig everyday. Until one day. 2 of them join me vaping. And now we 3 altogether vaping. No more funny looks and silly joke about vaping. By end of this month 7 more friend will joining. Now more people is interesting. Start with 1 close friend now will be 10 people vaping.
I've found that growing a curly moustache helped, now I get funny looks all the time. Problem solved.
