Hospital went especially great because I was so freaking sleep deprived, I was docile like Bambi which was fortunate for my care as like, normally in hospitals I am feral like a coyote and my moods are like, flickering like the florescent lights. I decided no Banner I was hearing they were keeping people longer than needed to bill for it and I was like, "Nu uh thanks." I would not have dealt with that well. The staff was like good they were all using PPE and the doc was like "Meh you have a fever, cough, and wheeze." I was like, "yup for 6 weeks now, dude." Then he was like "You might have COVID but IDK we will do another test although really you need an antibody test but we don't have them."
I thought the test would be ALL chill because the drive though one I did didn't hurt at all . Only it's because they barely tickled my nose hairs dude they were CLUELESS what they were doing. I told the nurse, "Oh no biiggie I have had one," only 2 minutes in ,he told me it was okay to "Grab something" and then also a few minutes later "To cry." Brain still hurts but if there is ANY covid left, he got it. Ouch.
It made me MAD though about the first test Cochise county has artificially low numbers and my program (which encompasses ALL the major cities there) is doing 90% of the testing they are the "blitz" sites for Cochise county. If I DID have COVID then they CERTAINLY would not have picked up on it.
So, eh, he did that took 17 vials of blood put in a hep lock and they did NOT want me breathing on anything. When I had to pee they brought me that old person mobile bathroom and the guy pretended like he needed a UA (he did not.) I think if they could have locked me in they would have but MAN. Hospitals in Tucson do NOT play.
In any case, then there was much long waiting and I totally behaved and I kept getting updates by the HUSBAND on how I was doing "They were really worried about you coming in but the labwork is all GOOD.." I was like, GOOD how, what did they test WTH? They doc was not happy with my fingers but I informed him I had clubbed fingers from my 3ppd habit, like and yeah Tucson is HOT and I have been a bit more swollen but not a LOT etc. But he still ordered an EKG. Which was like, fine. Also, uh right as I was like, "Surely they can test me not MORE" well they did a contrast MRI or EEG or whatever, the one where you can't have metal I kept saying YOU WILL NOT EXPOSE MY implants to the machine, right, I mean they were EXPENSIVE.
Dude anyway MRI guy was all super anxious. He told me all the bad stuff that MIGHT happen including "blowing a vein' where the contrast just like leaks all into you Michelin man style and I was like "I like my veins, they are awesome PLEASE don't let that happen dude. I would have preferred anaphylaxis probably because like, it sounded NOT nice but fortunately all that went smoothly and I do not have ANY signs of COPD vaping like, at ALL and well, even my scar gone apparently but I had lots of "inflammation" but no bacterial infection. I was like, to the doc "How come I still am getting fevers then?" and he was all, "You are getting them because well, maybe it's COVID but inflammation that just keeps going can cause fevers anyway." So I was like all "Fine" and he referred me to a pulmonologist and like, said it could be asthma or allergies and I was like "I don't really get wheezing unless I'm really sick. I am not allergic to stuff even your CT contrast apparently." I demanded to know if like, it would make me sicker if I had COVID but he was like "No not after 5 weeks I don't think." I wanted to say, "My mommy said it could linger for months" but then remembered I was a 45 year old woman and it would be dumb. I asked for the non psychosis steroids dude, but like, uh, that did not appear to be possible the doc did not know what I was talking about and I was like, oh well, prednisone I guess I know what it doe" so like I did not push the issue.
The only non compliant thing I did was like take off all the dang sensors they attached me too I couldn't take it any more. I almost ripped out my hep lock (I have done so before, sometimes even when attached to drips even but like I was like, "maybe a bit too much Linda Hamilton I don't want to get escorted upstairs to psych."
So yeah I am all on my first dose of steroids, and meh. We will see what the test says .A big fat nothing I am guessing.
But yea, gonna be all roided up for a while. Apologies in advance and all that.
I got offered a job in WV I believe I will be taking it, etc."
