You have three VT's don't you![]()
I do, and they work great but no adj tcr and they underheat about 80-90°f in Ti mode.
Is 430ss really almost as high of res as kanthal. If so, I won't be able to use 28g because the evic has 1 ohm max res in tc.
I don't know what the resistance of 28g kanthal is, looked it up in my app...it's 0.018029 ohm/mm
That ugly 7/6 (6 full wraps, 2 halves) of 28g 430 is 0.71 ohms, I believe it's about a 2.5 mm diameter coil.
Consider duals would be half that resistance.
Look at it like this. On a 2.5mm mandrel each wrap is approximately 0.1 ohm.
2.5 mm diameter = 7.85 mm of wire
This seems to equate to about 0.0127 ohm per millimeter. I'm not good at math so I could be off.
I need to measure it but I have no accurate multimeter, all I can say is it is higher than I thought it would be going by any available information I could find.
28g kanthal would be close to 1.25 ohms with that same build.
Kanthal is about %60 higher than 430.
@f1vefour , I thought you got your 430ss from unkamen but don't see anything smaller than 20g. Where'd you get the 28g?
You could twist it. Just takes a pen with a clip on it to get that 28ga to act like 26ga.Right, ok, thanks for the link. So unkamen does not sell 430ss in 26 or 24g. Looks like I'm gonna have to wait for 24g to become available. 28g res is too high for the evic. Thanks 54.
I've twisted 2x and 3x SS430 so far and it's not hard. The key is wrapping on a rod smaller than what you're shooting for. There will be spring so instead of fighting it, wrap smaller, let it spring and the next size up rod should fit. A .25 mm rod difference is best for non twisted, but for twisted, if you work it a bit, you should be able to jump a full .5 mm size up. Wrap on a 2 mm rod, let it spring and work in a 2.5 mm rod, wrap on a 2.5 mm rod and work in a 3 mm rod, etc.Twisted 28g 430 grade stainless steel would be REALLY hard to coil I imagine. I will be trying it though since I have strictly vaped twisted 32g kanthal for almost two years..until now.
This matches up pretty well with my experience. My non-twisted coils were coming out higher resistance than I expected until I realized my "3mm" wraps were springing out to 3.2mm, at which point steam engine was dead on accurate.A .25 mm rod difference is best for non twisted, but for twisted, if you work it a bit, you should be able to jump a full .5 mm size up.
So the Reliant is really only pulsey when taking light inhales, on a full on lung inhale I can't hear or feel the pulses until the wick is right at dry.
Or maybe it was that my battery was low. I'm far from a TC expert, really quite new with the experience.
I just got nic sick testing with 12mg juice and the build I posted above, ugh. So apparently the device is doing really well in TC mode.
