1 Toller (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever - came from a rescue with the rescue Newf - they were a pair)
1 American Bulldog (rescued by us - deaf)
1 very old Mix Chocolate Lab (rescued by us, pregnant, had 8 puppies which we found good homes for)
1 Chihuahua - inherited when my Dad passed away last year
5 cats - all rescued by us as tiny kittens

I would too, if I could afford it! But we have to limit ourselves to the 4 dogs, and 3 cats we already have. Maybe one day?....
I have a cat named Kupo... she's my baby girl and I love her sooooo much ^___^ We got her from a guy that had a purebred Siamese lady cat that escaped the house and got pregnant from some random tabby cat. So her face is long like a Siamese but she has tabby markings. I would say her temperament is much like a Siamese... saucy, aggressive, very playful, and dominant - she gives our 2 male cats (who are twice her size) a run for their money.
I understand the term "pet parent" quite well. I meant no harm when mentioning the kids. How-ever even though i am a parent, our pets are also very much my children as well. They are the children I can no longer have and my sanity as well.
We are a military family and almost never see our relatives because we are always too far away. I grew up being around lots of family and miss that very much. When you are told to move every few years because your spouse's time is up at a place you have to literally start life all over again. It has made it impossible for some to carry on a career away from the military, having true friends that are always close by is not going to happen, and you are often thrown into a new city with people who often are cruel, and ignorant. My husband, kids and I only have each other and the pets that move with us in the end.
That is why I said pet parent for myself as, they are family. They are always here for us when times are tough and they are love and cared for as if they too were my children.
I honestly did not mean to offend, or disrespect anyone and I apologize. Next time i look at a post like this, I will remember to read all the prior posts before hand, rather than a few pages worth. I wish you all the best, especially your furry children.

Colby: Yorkshire terrier, 2, wants to be an alpha but gets beat up by his sister too often. He retaliates by stealing her ball every chance he gets, humping her (dominance humping) at random moments - usually when we have company, and trying to steal her dingo bones every morning.
Kiley: Yorksire terrier, 2, wants what she wants, when she wants it, and no excuses. When Colby steals her ball she'll stand at whine at him for a few minutes, then perk up her ears, race to the top of the couch, stare out the window and bark. Poor sap falls for it every time. He races up to the top of the couch to see what she's barking at, and she jumps down and takes her ball back. She's scary smart.

Silly Bird, age unkown, desperately wants to raise little dove/parrot hybrids with Boo. Not bright. Boo just wants to rip out her tail feathers. Silly Bird was dumped on us by a neighbor, who saved her from a crow attack. From the glitter and rice stuck in her feathers, I'm guessing she was released at a wedding (Oh, how romantic - you're freeing all those birds who have had food delivered to them their whole lives and now they'll starve or be attacked and killed by predators they don't know how to avoid. Isn't that sweet?). She lays 3 or 4 eggs a year in the futile hope that Boo will notice her work ethic and decide to settle down and mate with her. Not a lot of personality, but she gets top marks in persistence.

My two girls are both rescue babies... Delilah (1yr.) german shepherd/lab mix, and Biscuit (3yr) chihuahua/terrier mix.

Mine get along really well with each other. My mini Dachshund thinks he's a big as my lab/pit mix!!
He's scrappy!! They each have their own unique temperaments, and they are such a joy to have with us!! If I can find it, I'll post a pic of them all laying next to one another!

I have a rescued cocker who is totally blind and no ear canals...but he has a sense of smell you would not believe! Also have a cat I found 11 years ago on the side of the road. George and Sneakers...Love them dearly!!
i have a Silky Terrier named Mandy. since she's extremely tiny for her breed and very energetic, everyone automatically assumes that she's a Yorkie puppy...she's 16 years old!
we also have a seven year old African Clawed Frog named Fred...who ocassionally escapes from his tank.

I have 2 dogs.. pit mixes. One was found with a litter abandoned by a river in newburgh, ny. The other rescued from a shelter. Love them!
