I remember when I spent a fortune to call long distance. Also, a science of tomorrow type show that showed phones with screens where people could see each other.

What happened? The internet got rid of long distance and beat the phone companies to video calling.

Thank God for the internet!

When we first saw the commercial for the new apple watches, my husband and I looked at each other and said "calling Dick Tracy!"

Oh geez, anybody watch That 70s Show? Red wanted to record a TV movie for later, so he set up the brand new VCR and sat there for hours while the movie was on...went to play it back and never put a tape in!

What really makes you feel old is when you quote a famous Beatles lyric -- say, "koo koo kachoob"... and get nothing but blank looks and crickets.

:D

What really shocked me (I started first grade in 1965) was last year when a friend of mine had me build a replica of Eddy Van Halen's famous "Frankenstrat" guitar. People asked me what I was currently building, and I would tell them that I was making a replica of EVH's guitar. I of course expected people over 70 to not know who EVH is. What surprised me was how few people under 30 had ever heard of him, or his band, which was all the rage just a scant 20 years ago or so.

Eddie's my age, too. I wonder if he feels as old as I do. He's probably noticed that almost all of his fans are in the 35-60 age group.

You must be really old then:Car phone - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I hate citing Wikipedia, but it's handy sometimes.
yeah I worked on those back in the day but they don't really count. You had a special Mobile Operator which patched the radio signal to the landline phone system.
And expensive, yepper The equipment was about the size of a suitcase back in the 70's.
And they were mounted in and powered by the car with a mounted antenna.

A fortune teller once told me my perfect match was EVH.

Decades later, someone read my birth chart, and said the same thing to me.

Now THAT is kinda scary.

I own the Sony DVPS7700. Sony's very first DVD player that came out in 1998. I will photograph it and post it later in week. The price was about the same as above, I think $1,400.

It works today like the first day, it has this very neat star wars kinda deck that moves and slides out when you turn it on. It weighs a ton.

Plays CDs as well
Watch how the front panel moves, it's so cool!

Not even trying to read the thread right now but I had to share a vape experience real quick

Got my order of river bottom fog sauce in today and WOW this is exactly what I needed a couple months ago when I wasn't sure I could kick the stinkies! Its a1 whole New vape experience. The over all feeling of the NETs vs other juice is amazing. I actually got the order for my brother and just a little bottle for me but we both agree it's more like having just hit a cigg in the body feeling.

He's been a dual user and actually just told me he would strictly vape if I will keep this juice on hand. Dropped his tobacco pipe to the floor laughing while telling me that. I'm amazed.

Once again the tootle thread saves someone!!

@Boden were you the one who posted about Vaping watch dropping their prices??

Sorry You'll have to forgive me. After I wrote that I was like no it wasn't boden but I'm exhausted between the baby the toddler and the cross town between the two lol.
Add packing to head north tomorrow and I'm a worse space case than normal.

Who did post that while back?

Dial phones were common, my first apartment the phone was only available on a party line. Three guys in the apt., answering the phone was interesting to say the least. If it was a girls voice on the line, you had seconds to figure out if you were supposed to recognize the voice or ask for a name before passing it off....:thumb:
