Funny how that stuff works. I barely got thru geometry but had no problems with trigonometry or calculus. Cant remember much of any of it but I passed without much effort.

I think Geometry is a whole different kind of demon and shouldn't even be called math! (obviously, not a fan of Geometry)

My grades in geometry were quite telling... A, C, F..... A, for the easy stuff... C, when we got to theorems... then an F, because you can't do corollaries if you don't know the theorems!

I fought the fight, now at 74 years old ... it's your turn.

While I may be a little younger than "You", I couldn't agree with anyone else more . . . Although I can still voice "My" opinion and push the envelope every so often, after being a socially unacceptable revolutionary advocate since the 60's (YES - I was a liberal free thinking hippie protester ;) ), today's "Yougin's" really need to stand up and start being the social/political advocates "We" all need now - and not just about "vaping" either . . . Just "My" opinion and :2c: . . .

I was the other way around. Geometry was a walk in the park.
I found myself in a state of "well-ya .... so?" every time the instructor thought he just made some sort of profound statement.

To me, geometry was logical thought, and algebra was abstract thought.

You understand, don't you? That most know exactly what I'm talking about and are more than just a little familiar with the impotent shifting of a losing battle to ad hominem territory, where the "I don't want anyone to know I'm a serial killer" serial killer mind feels safe?

You ARE safe, little one. It's ALL over.
You may want to dial down the universality of self-preservation philosophy speech.

I understand the concept you're extolling but the language you are using, some might consider creepy.

    Plus, this a vaping forum.

I aced every math class I have ever taken, except Geometry. Had to take it twice to get my associates and finally passed with a D. Ruined my perfect 4.0 GPA!

Would you believe that because of her SAT scores, my wife didn't have to take a single math class in collage (except stats) She has two BS degrees.

i think I said "I hate you" when she told me that!

    Somewhere out there
The vaping phenomenon is what freedom looks like. Fortunately, there are enough smokers - enough judges and attorneys and politicians and scientists and teachers and parents who smoke - or who have loved ones who smoke - to slap the control freaks down with regard to vaping. You can see how quickly the bumps in this road are being smoothed out. Most are only looking at the fight but if you look closer, you'll see that this is actually a quite smooth transition. There's no reason to fight about it. Lives are being saved. Nobody can justify the common, control freak's serial killer response to it.

Have seen the stupid control freak law that got enacted in Indiana? I can't imagine other states stooping to that degree of cronyism, but they are working to take away our choices. Not to mention the FDA deeming proposal that could easily send us back to the stone age of vaping (2007).

I understand. It's a bunch of simple ideas wrapped in a obfuscating language.

Most students look at the equations as a barrier, it's really just a language that they haven't learned. Much like how the noobs feel when they come here and see us talking in abbreviations.

How does a lysdexic person learn about transpositions when it is already partially transposed?

Math was always difficult for me-- because I never memorized my tables. I can quickly calculate the higher facts, though. When it came to geometry, every problem was a fascinating puzzle. One Monday I was sick, and an especially difficult problem was due. I worked on it all weekend. Tuesday I discovered that I was the only person who had figured it out, and he had reassigned it for Tuesday. :D

With the hand-held calculator in grad school, I was able to pass advanced stats with acceptable grades.

I cannot memorize. But I can understand how something works better than most anyone. Once i understood what that math was actually doing the relationships involved I could do it.

On the discussion about controlling people in authority and some of the anti-smoking laws that are including vaping/'eCig", has anyone else seen any of the Youtube videos about what happened during the recent NJ Vape Expo 2015. . . What happened there could be right around the corner for everyone . . . Just Sayin' . . . :grr:  :-x :censored:

Matter of fact, I found "pbusardo's" 2 part video to be interesting, especially his final remarks (which I totally agreed with) . . . ;)
