Honestly, i didn't mean to " undermine the unofficial poll of ECF members ". My response to " most vapers are dual users " has always been ; Even if true, so what !
Exactly! So what! :D

BUT if there is an off chance that, google powers be what they are, this little ole thread is found in search engines.......

Who knows... As we can see, there are dual users that frequent ECF. Some of them are beloved members and I know of many that are dual users. I hope that common sense tells us that ANY reduction is a good thing.

They probably number far less than the total vapers that are members of ECF. It can possibly give a pretty good reading of the actual overall percentages.

I suspect many here and outside the forum went into vaping planning on being a dual user, when smoking was inconvenient. Fortunately many ended up completely switching. My point is that many may be dual users by choice, not because of ecigs being ineffective.

I started vaping with the intent to stop smoking, thinking I would stop vaping after a short while. I didn't realize the powerful the urge to smoke would continue and that I would find vaping over the long term as an important part of keeping off of smokes.

i edited my previouspost to state what i think is the reason for the skewed report findings :)

Some perspective for you, I started with cigalikes way back, with the full intent of quiting smoking. I upgraded my gear a bit, better battery, but still using cartomizers. I quit for around two years, then I got a VERY stressful job, got laid off and broke my back in a year, I went back to cigs.
I've tried and tried everything within my financial means, to get off the cigs and back to vaping. But with my chronic pain I'm missing something that I get from a cig that I don't get from vaping. (YES, I have tried this that and the other thing, thanks for asking!)
I'm down to around a pack a day, or less, from 3-5 PAD. It's not great, but it's a huge improvement and I'll take any victories I can get at this stage!

I am sorry you went through what you did, and hope there has been some improvement with your job situation, and especially your back. One pack a day compared to 3-5 is definitely harm reduction. Dual-use numbers while exaggerated imo, are still an indication of success. Reducing cigarette use, with or without the help of vaping, is also good thing.

Total vaper since day one almost 2 years ago now which surprised me since I didn't want or expected to quit after 20 years of 2-2.5 PAD. Walked into a vape shop not knowing what vaping even was by accident and walked out a vaper never having a smoke again cause it just worked so well for me. I had no idea that the cig I put out as I walked in that day would of been my last.

My brother is a dual user. However, worth mentioning he was a 2 pack a day down to less then 4 smokes a day for the last year of his vaping. He sometimes gets upset he can't quit like I did and I keep telling him it's not how many your still smoking, it's how many you are not. Nothing wrong with dual use in my opinion if it's lowering your usage of smokes.

^^^ This ^^^ Common sense tells us that 4 smokes a day is FAR better than 2 packs a day.

The anti's believe that even 1 is wrong. Their thinking is what is wrong.

Sigh ....

Dual user.

Dual user.

Outing myself as bi-smokual.

Time to come clean!

Dual User!

Took me 2 weeks to become a total vaper and that lasted exactly 3 months.

I was never able to quit 'for my health' I finally snapped over the cost. Eventually picked up a pack of cheap cigars ( like 2-4 cigar for 99¢).
Then started breaking the cigars open and hand rolling cigs out if them. Eventually came across a 1lb pouch of 'pipe tobacco' for $10.99. That lasted about 9 months. Going on 3 months on my current 6oz pouch. About half gone.

I'm not stressing about it, somedays I don't have any other days I might twist up 1 or 2 or 5. I never roll up piles of them, just whenever this mood strikes.

I may become a total vaper again may not. I'm smoking so little and it's costing so little that..... I dunno?

Been back and forth.
Total vaper for about 2.5 weeks starting in August after about 1 year of dual using. Then bummed one from a co-worker, spent the next few weeks dual using again, then another straight week as a total vaper, then back to dual use again...
I think there are far more of us than many realize. But at this point, today, i'd say i am a Dual User but working on becoming a Total Vaper.

Not something I advertise unless I see another member struggling with shame over it ;)

I have no right to judge anyone. You do what YOU need to do. Each if us is different, and each of us has different needs/reactions. I like to think of ECF as a gathering of (mostly) like-minded folks who utilize electronic devices to reduce our intake of cigarettes.

Period.

We are all winners in my book, it is all about how many you don't smoke. To all keep at it and you will achieve your goal. My wife is an"dual" user and it takes all I have sometimes not to sneak one ☝️ just kidding. I have no desire to puff on one she is down to 3 a day from a pack and a half, so I know about small victories.

I was a Total Vaper from the day I started 3 years ago! I had two cigs left in my last pack when my EVOD kit and juices came in the mail. I smoked them while I was figuring the kit out and never looked back!

By the way Sept 25 was my 3 year anniversary!

Go me!!
