I think another reason I'm hard on myself is I haven't really found what I like yet. So while I'm experimenting its not that I made crap it just tastes like it.

I think thats where vender juices come in at least for me it did. I found a few vender juices I liked then set my sights at making somthing similure. It don't have to be exact but similure. Once you find it you can experiment to get it as close as you can. I have not even come close to cloning a vender juice but got results I really like and in some cases even liked better then the vender juice.

I know my taste buds are broken some eJuice will taste great and then the same eJuice will loose all its flavor later in the day then go back to tasting good again.

It's not your taste buds we all experience the same thing. When that happens I just switch to somthing else or put it down for a while. A coke or mint will also help. You will here the phrase palet cleansing mentioned quite a bit around this forum and many ways to accomplish this.

I like my DIY I think it's damn tasty. I make juice for one of my co-workers he likes it too. I was lucky I was able to clone my favorite juice kona cream from vaperite it's just a single flavor juice so it wasn't that hard I just had to find the right flavor vendor. but once I had that down it was a turning point for my DIY I was able to stop buying vendor juice and I've improved on it over the years ( wasn't that hard just had to add a few more complementary flavors) I've never tried to clone anything like boba's ( but I swear I taste FA cocoa in it) every few months or so I'll try to make a good 555 but so far it always seems to be missing something. I'll nail it one of these days

In our (DIYers) defense, the majority of commercial e-liquid is less than good. Any time I go to a B&M and sample liquids, maybe one out of ten is good. Even the "pros" succeed only a fraction of the time, and their stuff is on store shelves!

Not only that but the charge a fortune for it. I know all the choclate's that I have brought were crap and many of the others too.

At least, If I make a bugger batch, I am not out much money

I guess I'm not giving my eJuice a fair review. My friend came over and was sampling some of my creations and he thought one of the Peanut Butter's I made was really good (I didn't think so) I said, but this one tastes more like Peanut Butter. He told me some people like Jif and others like Skippy, he took it and ran.

I still have a few vender juices on hand and when I need a hint as to how I'm doing with mine I just go back to the vender juices. I find after sampleing what I thought was good I re-examine mine and give myself a pat on the back.

I keep looking at DIY,

There are two reasons I have not jumped into it yet.

I don't know what kind of time commitment it will take.

I don't know if I would like what I put together.

On the liquids that I have bought it was hit and miss until I went more expensive. The first ecig purchase I made the flavor was ghastly. I just wanted to not smoke. The next ecig purchase I made was V2, they had 2 flavors that I could vape but I really was not thrilled by them. I don't think I could vape those flavors today after some of the things I have tried. Then next Blu, the flavors were not bad, in fact I think I could vape some of those today.

I bought various bottles of juices from hardware vendors and they were bad. I obviously just didn't get the right ones. I have not tried Halo yet.

Based on posts I saw in the forum and plus the 2012 who is the best juice maker thread I gave HHV a shot. WOW, I liked almost everything a bought from them. That was the first time this happened. I have probably 20 flavors from them maybe more. Hmmm, it has to be more, I have 20 bottles on my desk. I do not like them all equally well but none will I through away.

I have not tried enough juice from other vendors to know who else I would like. I do know this, I would not have to clone anyone's flavors, I would have to just like the flavors as much as I like the HHV flavors. If I couldn't pull it off I would be wasting my time and money.

No matter how cheaply I could make the juice if I do not like it as well as (note, it does not have to taste the same) average experience I have with the HHV juices I would be tossing it out.

I have a 20 bottle order in with Mt Baker, I have no idea if I will like the stuff or not. I want to give Allusion a try because of the posts in this forum.

I am going to guess that ingredients for DIY are not all the same, are there premium DIY ingredients?

If I could match the stuff I have gotten from ecig hardware vendors that would not be good enough.

Are you guys able to match the HHV's and Allusions of the world? Not clone them but create stuff that people would like as well?

If it can be done I will give it a shot.

I got into DIY cos I guess I'm looking for my "holy grail" vaping experience, this is what keeps me going I guess.

I hope I never do mix the perfect, oh my god, this is the best thing I've ever tasted in my life juice. I know I would soon get bored. Once you've reached the pinnacle of something, there's only one way to go - down.

But for me it's still a positive experience (although it may not sound like it )

I have some mixes that are 99.9% there already. My choco/caramel I think falls into this category, I'm still tinkering with it - a bit of honey here and a bit of cream there, just to give an extra undertone.

I also have some "works in progress," some might call these failures, cos they taste like 7 day old socks at the moment  but to me, they are just a chance to add a little extra and refine them. Two examples are my coffee/coconut and tiramisu/vanilla, both taste rank now, but in a month or so who knows.

All I'm trying to say is the ups and downs of DIY keep me coming back for more. My quest for the "holy grail" continues

I don't have to create the perfect juice, I just have to create something that tastes "good enough." I gave up on the holy grail of juice.

I have 2 favorite vendors and stuff on hand from both. What I make in my spare time just keeps me from buying more and more non-vapable juice, which I have been doing with alarming predictability for a couple years.
