I’ve now branched out into some stainless steel wire, and temp control vaping with my Ares’.

I’ve found I really prefer 28g wire. I hate the ramp up time of 26g.

Also, I get better flavor from a 2.5mm ID, rather than a 3mm. I haven’t played with a 2mm much, it’s kind of a pain to wick, I’m gonna try again after vaping a 2.5 for a while.

It’s crazy how you can get 2 WILDLY DIFFERENT vapes just by changing the wire and trying TC. I typically like a cooler Vape, 1.3-1.5 ohms at @11-12w. Trying temp control was insane. WHOA!! That’s what a warm Vape feels like! Not sure if I like it, but was using a .85 ohm SS coil at 350-400 degrees, above 380 wasn’t really pleasant. But the same juice, tastes way different, it’s neat.
I dislike the ramp down time of 26 gauge SS wire more than than the ramp up time. SS seems to retain more heat than Kanthal, which I think results in more dark stuff in my wicks. I’ve taken to continuing my draw for a little bit after I’ve released the firing button in an attempt to avoid the condition.

Something to consider if you have not already.....Use TC the same way you do power, if your mod allows it. Just use TC to prevent burnt hits. For example, if you use a 75 watt mod, set your wattage the same way you would in power mode instead of leaving it at 75 watts. I am vaping TC SS316L on the Ares now at 16 watts power, with a preheat at 1 second at 35 watts. Temp is set just to prevent ruining my biuld, giving me a nasty hit, and to tell me I'm out of juice if I don't notice.

I haven’t played with the TC custom settings yet. I just tossed it in TC SS mode and set the temp. The wattage seems to go to whatever it needs, as you’re firing, and lowers itself as it gets hotter. The mod says “200w”, but you can see the wattage change as you fire it.

Using a Wismec FJ200.

So far, in limited SS testing, I like kanthal better, time will tell!

To each his own, but have you seen this thread?

New studies find carcinogens in vg and pg at high temps, even in tootle puffers

Yes, but I find on both my joyetech with Arctic Fox and dna75 that when set temp is reached you can feel/tell. There's fluctuation/throttling and it's not as smooth and nice a vape as it is when controlling with wattage (as if not in TC) and setting the temp a little higher as a preventative measure. Makes TC even better, IMO.

I'll still have to disagree there's only high end and budget tanks. I've found $30-40 tanks are often better than $20-30 and there's usually good reason for the price difference. Same goes for $10-20 from china vs $20-30. The price ranges exist for a reason.

I've lucked up on EHPro Kayfun Lite Plus V2's for $9.99 and bought several. The price difference was completely demand based. Newer products demand high prices, but price doesn't necessarily mean better vapes. It's more about demand for the latest and greatest. Once the market is initially saturated the deals get sweeter.

That said, I'm enjoying my new Ares and Siren 2 RTA's. I have a Beserker on the way. I"M still looking for a deal on the DoggieStyle RTA stateside.

SkyLine, Siren or Hussar huh ?? May I suggest that you go straight to the Coppervape Hussar and get the 1.3mm air pin instead of the other two, it is the tightest and has good flavor (though I only use mine with Unflavored, so take my suggestion maybe with a grain of salt).

Edit; I have the SkyLine and the Siren V1. I see you are another TH guy. It's the bane of my existence concerning vaping. I went and ordered a couple of KF mini V3's, after reading what you posted earlier in this thread I thought that I needed to try one for myself.
Appreciate that, 52. I'll put it at the top of the list after I get the Doggy. Lord, that thing is a monster - 5.7ml??? Do you use it full size, or did you get the micro tank? If micro, can I buy the full sized, and just convert with this, and is the vape significantly different in micro? $6.60 Replacement Micro Tank Set for Coppervape Hussar RTA Atomizer at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
If you like TH with your flavor, you're gonna love KM3. I wish they made a Prime version with the same deck & chimney dimensions.

That's the very same micro tank setup I use on my CV Hussar dawg. I use both the Full size, and the micro tank, and both with the optional 1.3mm air pin installed (it's smooth and quiet).

And YES, it is made for conversion from Full sized to Micro sized with that micro kit.

sorry if this has been asked/answered before but is there anyone that has the Berserker
that can give an idea what air holes (if any) are similar to the Ares please,
i`m usually on the 3rd/4th largest hole on the Berserker, can you get a similar feel with the Ares?
Seems to me the smallest on the Ares is in between the third and fourth of the Berserker.

ok thanks again....i thought i would be buying the Ares but i keep changing between this and the Cthulhu Hastur MTL......i think the Hastur might be looking favorite....still can`t fully commit either way lol
I went back and forth between the two and settled on Ares. Other than hearing about loose afc on the Hastur, I wish I tried it instead.
