I've been using the Innokin Ares for about a week now. Must say I'm pleasantly surprised considering how mixed opinions are on it. Airflow, flavour, build quality are all great for me. I've only used the supplied kanthal coils but they'd be similar to what I would make myself. I don't really see any huge difference to the siren v2 which I also really like, perhaps a slightly warmer tighter draw on the ares?

I'd agree, what stopped me from getting flavor from the Ares was really running it like 3 watts too low. I'm still only using about 13-14 watts but that's higher than I usually go. I find many similarities between the Siren V2 and the Ares (I like both) although I think the Ares is in fact, slightly more airy. I run my Ares on the smallest hole, and I run my Siren V2 wide open.

I think it's like anything, will suit some and not others, but I am very happy with my pair, and my set of Siren V2s which remains my favorite rebuildable atomizer so far. (And, opinions are equally mixed on the Siren V2, just like normal).

Past a certain point, when everyone is saying widely divergent things, I just go "I need to try this thing out for myself." Sometimes the results are happy, at other times things get retired.

I'm just glad there are some great rebuildable options on the market that provide a nice vape without costing hundreds of dollars. I usually approach any new atomizer with the decision, "I'm going to like it." And, then just allow the equipment to prove otherwise, or not.

Except my doggy style clone, I have very intense feelings toward it, to the point that it's very hard for me to motivate myself to give the second one I ordered (the first one was possessed and ate its own build deck as I put it away to attack down the line) even though everyone says it's fantastic and etc. LOL.

The doggy was BUILT! LOL I posted proof in the doggy thread. It was CRAZY easy this time. Either my first one was possessed, or my skills have improved. LOL. Probably both. I immediately ordered 3 more, it's an awesome flavor tank, and now that I have no fear of the dog? LOL, I'm just happy to have enough RTAs stashed and in use and etc. :)

Glad I got that done, it's amazing what you can do with practice! I used a SS around 0.81 and am vaping it at an all powerful 10 watts, but I think its fantastic! I am so glad I did not say, "Meh, fine motor tremor I can't do this," after my FIRST RTA, because I would have missed out on so much fun.

And glad I ordered another doggy... Thank you ALL for your encouragement to just Build It. LOL.

I like the Ares a lot. I have two of them up and running. But, I like the dog also. Man, one of my Ares, I can't remember how long it has been going (rayon wick) but it HAS to be over two weeks, possibly more. And, it's not like I don't VAPE it, either, I do all the time.

I'm just thrilled to have a bunch of RTAs to play with, especially now. I do think the doggy style flavor is fantastic, but it's also using my first PEG400 mix, and it's flavorful. Could be the added PEG400, or the RTA, maybe I should test it without the new juice, see if it's different.

I've found out of all the newer RTAs lately, for me it's the Berserker that isn't quite doing the trick. The draw is too tight, even for me. I might get the husband to drill me out an airhole. Etc.

About the Ares, I was wondering; do you guys (and girls!) place the coil upwards or downwards?

I place the coil upwards with the legs at the bottom of the coil. I find it easier to adjust so the coil does not hit the bell cap. If I try with the coil below the legs it seems that the coil touches the air flow screen and the legs can't be tightened down as good. But that's how I do it.

How high is your coil raised up over the diffuser? (Too low may cause leaking, possibly, I usually raise my coil about 2 mm above it.)

What are you wicking with? I find the Ares to be a total non-leaker but I use rayon and I find it really forgiving as a wicking material. Maybe you want it a hair tighter in the coil, even if cotton?

What type of coil (spaced, contact, material, resistance, etc.?) I'm just trying to figure out what may be going on, I've had a hard time getting the Ares to leak, in fact I don't think one of mine has.

Coil placement may be your key-- do you have a pic of the build?

Also, I'm fairly sure you'll get plenty more suggestions and etc.

I agree with Anna. One other possibility is the amount of wick in the channels. To little (happened to me) can cause leaking. If your coil ID is 2.5 or greater then as Anna stated your coil may be to close to the air diffuser. Almost forgot, make sure that your wick material is on the outside of those walls and not touching the air diffuser.

Hi guys. Recently picked up an Ares and it worked great for about 2 weeks. Took it apart to clean it and now after reassembly the 510 screw will not tighten. It just spins and spins. There's only so far I can take apart the base which makes it very difficult to find out what's wrong. Anybody else have this problem? Suggestions? Thanks much.

    Can you remove the screw?
