I am STILL waiting for all aspects of this project that are coming from China. I only have the battery connections and the Acrylite sample. :(:(:( -Shades of fasttech!

I have everything but the charging station box and a suitable firing switch. chomping at the bit.

speaking of the acrylite sample, mine's like almost 2mm thick. how am I going to cut that thing to size?

You score it and snap it, they make a little reverse blade cutter just for plexiglass. Search on amazon for "plexiglass cutter" in the tools and home improvement section.

I was ready to use my chop saw an sand it... now you got me wondering if this would work better. Do you score one side only?

Yep I had some of those acrylite samples and I just scored one side real well and snapped them. Worked well, a lot better than earlier attempts at dremel cutting with a cut off wheel and then filing. That stuff stinks when it gets hot and makes a ton of dust.

I received just about everything. The 1x DNA Screen Housing W-Stop 2mm in Black Strong & Flexible is still in production, are they always this long, or maybe a better question don't they mass produce these (keep a few in hand/stock)? It is in the catalog not an image they have to produce from.. and still waiting on the battery case to come in. Found all the epoxy stuff just haven't pulled the trigger on them.

No luck with the firing switch or DNA30D board yet.

Nope, I do a lot of stuff at shapeways and nothing is produced until it's ordered. They are a bit backed up at the moment it seems based on my recent orders.

My screen housing just shipped today. I think they make them as ordered using a 3D printer.

amazing, innit? how do they make the metal ones?

Fairly complex process for the metals and yes completely amazing!

First, the model is printed in wax using a specialized high-resolution 3D Printer. It is then put in a container where liquid plaster is poured in around it. Once the plaster sets, the wax is melted out in a furnace, and the remaining plaster becomes the mold.

Molten brass is poured into this mold and set to harden. The plaster is broken away, revealing your new product. Raw Brass is briefly tumbled. Polished and Gold Plated Brass are carefully cleaned and hand polished. Gold Plated Brass goes through a final electroplating process for an outside coat of 22k gold. Please be aware that polishing and plating can wear down or fill in very fine details and edges.

Lot's of interesting reading on the materials page.

Wow, thanks Jmac, that's a lot of work for a one off.

My charging station is here! My charging station is here!

damn, that thing is small. much smaller than I imagined. I see now why the button interior size is so important. It's a mm or two taller, 5/8 inch wider and the same depth as an mvp.

It's just a little slippery, but I have some carbon fiber vinyl I can wrap it in. can't wait to get started. If only my buttons would arrive!

another first impression: I can tell right away the lid is not designed for every day open and close - it won't take very long to wear out those tabs if you're replacing dead batteries every day. Best to use the on board charger under normal circumstances and only swap out batteries in an emergency or when they quit charging.

I had fumble fingers the first few times with the battery cover then realized I wasn't doing it right. I'm used to the AA and 9v battery box covers which are press in and slide off - the Arlo case is different.

If you remove and put on exactly like the instructions show you'll have no problems with aligning the tabs and the cover will slip right into place. If it's forced, it will probably break a tab or two. Treat it right and the cover will hold up aok for the long run.
