I saw status on the case today, its in chicago (at least it made it to the US :) )
Definitely let us know your take on all those buttons with this case once you get them.

Inside the box we've only got about 19mm for anything going left to right and about 20mm back to front.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to trim the backsides of any of the flush mounted ones to get them to fit and still have room for wires.

It'sa gonna be tight, but that's what we want - as small as possible and this is a TINY dual 18650 dna mod.

It would be so sweet if the Arlo case were aluminum. The closest I've found to a 3x 18650 case in aluminum is JAX, but that's a challenging build placing the parts along the center without access to an open back cover.

Haven't given up on the search though - if there's one out there, I'll find it.

:D I don't doubt that in the least!

@mamu, I'm having problem with the case. Ebay seller won't ship to FPO/AP. My question is will this do? What about those battery? Will they work in this mod? Thanks. $31.27 Xinbo 1-1.5A 3*18650 Single USB Output Mobile Power Pack Battery Charger w/ LED Illumination - black / 3*18650 (3400mAh/Panasonic) at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

The pictures show the exact the same box - but it's weird that FT has a dozen of these listed at different prices. this one is less than $10 and looks exactly the same.

$8.23 Xinbo 1-1.5A 3*18650 Single USB Output Mobile Power Pack Battery Charger w/ LED Illumination - black at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Ok then, my DNA30 has grown wire legs. looks like a multi-colored granddaddy long legs.

before I proceed, is there any way to test my connections? I'd hate to glue this thing permanently into my box without checking.

Another quick question while I'm thinking of it, when I start to piece this thing together, I see there's a lot of in-close wire splicing to be done at the end. Should I use something to protect the board and other wires from heat and solder bits when I'm soldering them inside the box? I imagine a small bit of cardboard would work, but being noob at this kind of thing, I'm just guessing.

I just got this in today. 16mm Momentary Black Metal Pushbutton Switch with Screw Terminal Round Top | eBay

it seems like a good quality button - only slightly mounded, 3mm or so proud but looks much less. The finish is very smooth so it makes it look a little "blacker" than the case. Not loud clicky, but good tactile feedback - you know you've clicked it. But there's a bit of throw left after the click, if you know what I mean - not sure if you just have to go past the click until it bottoms out or if just to the click works. either way, it's an easy push.

Dimensions: outside the case, it will look just fine. the rim has a 17mm diameter. Inside the case, it's 15 mm diameter and 18mm from inside the cap to the end of the nuts. the screws add another 2 mm, but we can take them out since we're soldering to the contacts. Subtract 1.5mm for the thickness of the case and gives us 16.5 mm without modification and soldering to the holes in the nuts That will fit in the case without a problem - but since it's 15mm wide, that only gives us a mm each side and above to fit 3 20g hot wires (with fuses somewhere around that area) past it. Doable but tight.

The nuts look to be aluminum and the insulation between the nuts is just thin plastic so no problem there. I figure I could saw or grind this down a bunch, but 16mm would keep the nuts at half their size.

This is the first button I've gotten in, and based on pictures it's already my favorite based on color alone. But I've got those ubiquitous silver ball tactile buttons for the up/down buttons so the all black finish is already spoiled.

I think the chip/screen and the up/down buttons can be moved closer to the bottom to make more room at the top. I really like this button for this mod.

@mamu, the holes and screen cut out template is too long or am I doing something wrong?? After printing and cutting, it measured out to 20mm by 75mm.. 1396323599780.jpg I printed the image in actual size..
