Retriever--you need to let your X2 lay side-ways or with the clearo slightly tilted down, as the liquid level goes down. The wicks are little short dudes, up near the top. These things DO NOT LEAK, so you can lay it down with confidence.
I"ll let someone else speak to the protections on these.

Thank you. The reason I had asked is because right before I ran the clearo dry, I got some really bad, burning hits. Not awesome at all. Why aren't the wicks on the bottom? It would make sense, as I thought the coil was on the bottom. Now I am confused, but that is okay, I stay that way.

All nine of mine rest in a standing position (which is not recommended, but it's more convenient for me) but when I vape, I roll the PV enough to wet the wicks and vape with the PV in a horizontal position. Even chain vaping, I've never had a dry hit. Maybe I've just been lucky so far ...

Okay, I have to ask some questions on these. The vapor is great, but all I am getting is a metallic vape. Hence my question about cleaning them first. I have emptied it, cleaned it, filled it up again and still nothing but a metallic taste. It sat overnight so I know the wicks have had plenty of time to soak up what they need, I am laying it vertical, and it is full...

Am I doing something that I am not thinking of wrong? As of right now - these are not vapable...

Yes, I did not want to use the other one and ruin it also.

I also tried something to see if it was something I was doing. I poured out the juice, and rinsed it with some thinned PG and then refilled it with plain PG that way it could not be the juice or to much nic or whatever. Still has the same metallic taste. So it is the clearo and not my juice...

You are not doing anything wrong from what I have read.. the only thing would be under or overfilling could cause that taste...

if you are not doing either of those the resistance could just be off in that carto and need to be replaced.

They are easy to fill/manage so I doubt it is user error. I would go ahead and try the other one... just do not fill above the 1.6ml line and let the wick saturate for 5 min before use.

What if you tried laying it horizontal? Maybe the liquid isn't sufficiently reaching the top, where the wick is.
I get metallic hits on some cartos toward the end, when it's time to refill. Maybe it's something like that...

Not every vaper/delivery/juice combination is going to be a hit...if a gazillion reviews have taught us anything, it's that. Try it with a different juice. Even cartomizers, which seem to be the most level playing field, deliver a different experience with different juices for different people. Just like there is no perfect car for everybody, there is no perfect carto/clearo/atty/tank/whatever that will be for everyone.
