Imagine - I got impatient to try some new flavors (the dreaded "Vaper's Tongue") so I ordered some Kanger M3's as you were out of stock on the CE3's. I really like these and wondered if you would be carrying something like them. No needle needed part is great. I'm still not sold on the Clearo's for dependability. I find less likely to leak if there's a little more VG in them; but they seem to fizzle out quicker ... Just wondering. Still LOVE SI!@!@!!@ ;-)

I'm more interested in the form factor than the battery life. I do see that the eGo mini style aren't regulated batteries, though, which I'll admit doesn't fit well with the SI line.

I'm with you shardina. I have three of the eGo mini style batteries - and with a clearo on them they are very compact and stealthy. You can easily "palm" a mini with a clearo. A regulated mini X2 for the clearos is something I'd really like to see. And these mini eGo's are extremely popular with men and women alike.

No worries. Thanks for the heads up. What is the average life on our current 900mah X2s before needing replaced. Charged daily, at least once.

The average battery life is about 300 charge cycles from what I understand about litium ion batteries. That said, the number is based on discharge to the recommended level and recharge at the recommended rate. Since SI batteries are contolled by an internal ASIC which handles discharge level and charge rate that isn't a big factor. How they will perform if recharged more frequently is kind of an indeterminant question though. They can be recharged more freuqently at partial discharge levels without affecting overall life span, which in the end, is determined by how long the chemical reactions that produce the power and recharge the battery can be maintained.

Well, I'm actually more concerned about discharge current. 1.5A or so - that's a kind of "inhuman" conditions for such batteries.

Rave & Shardina: I hear you both!!! While I love the X2 manual (900 mah) in the house or car - I've been tempted by the SD Keyring because of it's size to clip on a lanyard while outside whether it be the lawnmower or lately worrying about one of the colts pulling it out of my back pocket!

I still prefer the 78's when I'm out in public - haven't been kicked out of Walmart / Sam's (just saw they don't allow) or any restaurants yet! My favorite is the purple w/ the purple LED! :D

I have trouble loosing the rubbery caps now (78's) when I forget to pull them from the pocket before I get in the car! I lucked out w/ the X2 - jumped in the truck and the threaded end separated from main battery body. I pushed it back together (carefully) and it's been fine (2 weeks ago) so far!

well with those... if we add the passthrough feature like the other X2's it will be longer.. and if we do not eveyone will have to buy a separate charger just for that battery....

No, no passthrough. Could we just charge them on the regular chargers?

These batteries can be discharged at max 15C.

"can be" just means that it will not explode right away. But will it last 300 cycles?

In normal conditions (vaping) they discharge at max 10C which is the manufacturer recommended.

Can you provide reference to this manufacturer recommendation. It sounds suspicious

Edit: disregard all this. LiIon batteries can really live a long and happy life when cycled with high discharge current.

Take a look at "The Battery University". There's a ton and a half of information about lithium ion batteries including charge, discharge and load rates. I think one of the things that "saves" them in this case is that the discharge cycle is relatively short, as in a max of a few seconds and is also limited by the ASIC to prevent overheat damage. I suspect that vaping keeps them well within safe parameters and keeps them at a reasonable life cycle, otherwise SI and everyone else would go broke on guarantees. I can't say I've ever noticed a battery getting hot or warm from use, even if I furiously chain vape, just an observation and certainly not proof positive.

I've certainly done that. They have these couple of pictures of li-ion battery cycle capacity vs discharge rate
partone-5a5.jpggsm3.jpg

But those pictures are quite old (2002 or so)

So I've found another interesting paper (but also quite old) which describes Sony 18650 battery capacity change after 300 cycles at 1C(1.4A), 2C(2.8A) and 3C(4.2A) discharge rates:

http://144.206.159.178/ft/641/87294/1481003.pdf

This paper says that at 1C(1.4A) rate that Sony battery lost only 9.5% of it's capacity after 300 cycles. Which is actually great and shows that I probably shouldn't worry about too high discharge current :)
