What "ID" is your coil? I use 3mm screwdriver to wrap mine, 7 coils. I wrap open or closed, works about the same. No gurgle. Been using rayon for over a month in my 4 active KF V4 builds with identical results. Hate to hear someone having trouble until they hit their sweet spot. Love my KF V4's. Been there, these people will get you straightened out.
I use 2.5mm. I love the KF4 smoothness, that's why I am wasting so much time with this (and also boring you [emoji23]). Can you take a photo of your build please?

So I took pics of a well worn build so you can see you don't always need the pretty set up. This ain't rocket science. LOL

I use Ekowool/Silica in my KF4's and I wrap the 3 pieces off the atty. I tried sticking the wicks in a pre-made coil but had issues. I use it for over 20 refills and dry burned it every 4 to 6 refills. Could last longer if I wanted. Dry burning it turns them white again. QUOTE="stanleybb50, post: 17273628, member: 59823"]Interesting. Do you always have to wrap silica with the wire, or can you slide silica into a pre-made microcoil already installed on an atty?

And what's that coil/silica look like after dry-burning?

Cool - maybe I'll try it sometime. Sounds convenient.

Wow that's Awesome! Like really awesome.

I do feel like with my NET's, I'd have to rinse after as well, but I could be wrong. If for no other reason than to get rid of that "Actual" burnt cigarette flavor and possible carcinogens from burning. (I always find I have to rinse my bare coil after a re-wick with NET's due to this.)

Yup, it has a wild wrap. It's 1.8 ohms and it's been rewicked a few times. I find I'm wicking half as much with rayon as I did with cotton. It vapes perfectly even though it's ugly.;)
Is one of the wraps of wire crossing over some of the coil?

I don't think it's a good idea to torch on the atty... Might do some damage??? When I need to clean silica, I run water over it in the sink(off mod), paper towel dry and then dry burn.

I agree. I just love the video...

It is awesome. And instantly ends every argument about "burnt silica wicks." :)

I played with Rayon for a while. I trimmed the tails, tried tails not trimmed, experimented with wick size through the coil, cut the tails to sit almost on the deck and tried letting them touch, and walked away unimpressed after week of playing with it. I'm back to Egyptian cotton for a while and liking it.

My Rayon was from a box I bought in Sally's. It's the same picture shown in most every rayon thread. There was a slight funny taste associated with it that turned me off.

When you search rayon you find all sorts of chemical contamination threads that claim the process doesn't produce 100% cleanliness in the wash cycle. I'll wait until there's some sort of clean bill of health on rayon before I spend any more time on it.

More likely than not the foul taste may have come from what the rayon acquired from your fingers, a good possibility but that would be my guess.

I love the rayon wicks. I use a 3mm coil, bigger than most I've seen used here, so I find it quite easy to insert and get that not too tight, not to loose fit inside the coil. I've tried Japanese cotton, didn't like it at all. The cotton I was using before being hooked on rayon I bought from Walgreens, Studio 35 Beauty "Premium Cotton Squares". Peel the cover off of the pad to reveal a perfect stranded cotton square, one way strands, perfect compaction for wicking, did I say CHEAP, they are. So from my pics, my wicks are lovely, my coils are fugly.

    Somewhere between here and there
I had all but given up on my kf4's. After taking all three of them apart, replacing all orings and putting them back together, they had been sitting collecting dust. I decided to get one out that had the most leaking and gurgling problems to try the dental floss trick someone here suggested. I did it, installed a new #16 oring and I'll be damned if it didn't work. I've been using it two days without one gurgle or leak. It's nice to finally get some use out of them.
