All 3 of my silver Tobecos are brushed SS (matte). I just checked my 2nd from VR and it was missing an o-ring (#36) in the top nut that seals to the chimney. Luckily, I have some spares from my other KF's. Still haven't washed or built it.

Even the one from Custom mod/Artemus we both ordered?? Mines shiny enough I can see my reflection in it!

(On a random side note, after our "lovely" experience with Artemus regarding the KF4s, it appears hes been stealing folks money over the last few months and has now completely disappeared from the face of the earth)

Yep.

Somehow I don't doubt it. They seemed shady and wouldn't have ordered from them again. I usually try to track down reviews of retailers before placing orders and Artemus had a lot of good reviews but after my experience, I couldn't recommend them to anyone. I ordered from Vapor Range in the evening and got tracking info the next morning.

Hmmm looking at yours, maybe mine ARE matte after all.. Theyre pretty 'shiny' to me, but now that I can compare em they look practically identical to yours.. The finish definitely isnt the smooth one that my blue one came in.

Yeah I wanted to get one of his $14 SMPL clones a couple days ago, noticed the website account was suspended. Ended up on his Facebook page thanks to Google and saw quite a few people complaining about orders they placed and got nothing. Custom Mod appears to have run off with a bunch of money into the ether. Glad we at least got our KF4s eventually.

KTM, those are the 'shiny' ones, ie brushed SS. My original tobeco, and first VR are the same. To me I always thought they were a bit matte / brushed looking, more so than my generic KF4 clone, but I guess they are the "shiny" ones.

The one I got from VR today is the matte, or satin, came with the white dot on the box, and looks almost media blasted.

The one on the left is the no sticker on box from VR, the one on the right had the white sticker on the box.

Artemus was a royal pain in the rear. I am not surprised that they ran into problems.

Thanks for posting a pic to clear things up. I think of polished when people say shiny. The matte looks good too.

Was there a sticker on the shiny one's box top, or was it bare? Sticker on the matte one's box top?

All I can say definitively is that there is a little white sticker on one but not the other, as I have no idea which box was which. But I think your suspicion is correct.

I actually received those, gave one to my girl, and were both using them here and there... Took I think 2 or 3 days until we even noticed they were different.

Convenient, though, really. Now there's a way to tell them apart (other than drip tip but right now we're both using the same).

Digging a bit more, there's a kit from FT but it comes with a steel tube. The Aqua v3 glass tank is .5mm longer but should work. If I didn't have gc balance I wouldn't even think about ordering from FT.

Ok well that giant picture definitely answers the question for me haha. Mine are indeed the 'shiny' ones on the left! Boxes for both of mine had no sticker on them as well.

Dammit, somewhere in my cleaning cycle I've lost the small plastic insulator B15. I do have a repair kit in my mailbox that has extras, but man these things are complicated. I'm getting pretty good at tearing them down and putting them back together though.

I did the same thing washing it out in the kitchen sink, except I lost part #10 and #11. Later, my wife turned on the garbage disposer and a racket started. The square nut was in there, kind of skinned up, but the insulator was probably ground up when she turned it on.

All the parts (and more) were in the spare parts kit I ordered from 101Vape.com for $5.99. Once it arrived, I was up and vaping in less than a half hour.

I use one of these. Never lost a part. I soak, wash and rinse all the parts in my trusty sieve. Then move the entire operation onto a clean white towel spread on the kitchen counter, away from the sink.

I seem to be having problems wicking my Kayfun v4. I am getting dry hits with my DIY 40pg/60vg juice. Is the wick supposed to touch the deck or rest above it?

First thing is to try a 3mm coil if not doing so already.

Wick just touching, tho maybe a fraction above with 40/60. Here's a rather, er, precise wicking vid:
