More often than not expectation = resentment. :)

While this is true, the manufacturer, experts in their own design(s), advertised the device to perform a certain way...which it does not.
It's not even boiling down to a matter of opinion. They said Airflow Setting One would match KFL/KFL+/KFL+V2 iterations, and it simply does not.
Airflow Setting One matches the draw of the kayfun 4, and the airflow settings above that simply get wider.
The disappointment comes in where SM has done a 90% perfect job of delivering what they say they will (not always WHEN they say, but that's another can of worms), and so expectations have already been set.
This is not a case of consumers having the wrong expectations. Their expectations were set by the manufacturer, and the advertisement produced and delivered by the same manufacturer.
------
The root of this whole issue is that SM had to rush their product out the door, to get it on the market, to avoid the insanely asinine governmental crack downs that the whole world of vaping is facing these days.

I, for one, can forgive them for time lost on Beta testing...and many others have.
But even if they shipped the devices, knowing the airflow would be an issue for a lot of people, they should have followed their own lead and been prepared with the Airflow Kit ready to ship.

It would have looked something like this:
"Hey guys. Our product had to be rushed out the door in order to be 'legal'...you may find it doesn't work the way we said it would, but we have an add-on that will fix that. Everyone who needs one will have it shortly."
And then deliver upon that promise.

----
What they've done instead is:
"Hey guys, here's our new product, being released early to avoid legality issues. It will work in all these ways, and for those who want to modify it, we're cooking up a thing to make that happen...and we'll release it soon."
Which they technically haven't done, since the first batch (smallest batch of anything ever) sold out inside of several hours, and there's been no word on more being released since then.
They should have made one MTL Kit, for every KF5 unit produced. Why? Because they said the first setting would mimic the KFL line of devices. But in reality, in order for the KF5 to do that, it needs a piece of that MTL Kit.
They fell down on their own face.

-------

But hey...it happens. Nobody is perfect.
High-end Mod issues? Sure.
First world problems? Definitely.
But relative to their own promises, a large issue indeed.

C'mon SM. The people who got you to your current position are awaiting your action.

I guess this is what frustrates me. They acknowledged many weeks ago that this problem existed. OK, I get it. I can deal with it. Then they followed up and said they would have an inexpensive fix. Well, here we are many weeks later and none of us have any clue as to when this fix will be available beyond the few they shipped to CdV that sold out in a few hours. This is what is irritating me. No communication. We're standing here holding our :censored:s without a clue. And when I go to their website I am being warned that it is not a safe website. I can't even write them to complain. GRRR!!!

... said they would have an inexpensive fix.
And 11 or 12 dollars before shipping for 3 small pieces of steel that have essentially no more machining involved than a screw is hardly inexpensive in my estimation.

I donno, maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to be another case of excessive profiteering.

Two points.

1) the machining on those air restrictors requires significantly more machining time than a screw (not to mention SS is more expensive and requires more machine time).
2) no one is making you buy them if you feel it is excessive profiteering.

That said, they should make them easily available.

My Guess: Lube the orings? :)
As I see it, and I could be wrong...

He mounted the chimney onto the base first, then assembled the tank on it, Therby over tightening the chimney to the base.

He could not then open the juice flow control, but instead was unscrewing the tank pieces one from the other.

In my opinion, assemble the tank assembly first before screwing it onto the base to avoid this type of problem.

Hmmm. I always screw the chimney on first. Never has been a problem. But I understand your reasoning.

Nothing like a good vape on the way home after a busy day! Serendipity on the right, DF on the left

Why am I still not able to find this MTL kit in stock anywhere? I think they underestimated how many would choose to buy it... I think that their air flow bell curve needs to be shifted to the left. Lol.

This who enjoy wide open draws just have louder voices! :)

Origin Vape: In Stock - GONE! In a matter of minutes. I've been on their waiting list for weeks. Glad I stopped waiting and found the MTMStore (Save $20 and get it in a week)! Nothing against Eric/Origin- U.S. vendors are just not getting many of these yet.
Exactly right. Adam can't get K5's to save his life. His first batch went in no time flat. He got in some KM3s the other day but nothing else.

It does appear that they give European vendors priority. K5 and KM3 have NEVER been out of stock at the MTMStore in Croatia.
