Perhaps try a spaced 26.Greetings Kayfunners
Started having some issues with my Kayfun 5 recently. Lots of spitback and juice popping.
Tried all sorts of different wicks, adjustments to the JFC and coil height. Slight improvement here and there but still not satisfactory.
Only thing left to try was a different coil. Coils with issues were 24g 3mm id Kanthal. Spaced (I am a net vaper) and coming in around 0.8ohm.
So I just wrapped a 1.5ohm 26g 3mm id Kanthal and lo and behold problems solved.
I've really no idea why this is. Perhaps the Kayfun doesn't play nice with <1ohm coils. Or it didn't like my spacing. Or my spaced coils are poor (though they work in my RDA's). Maybe the 24g Kanthal didn't play well with the Fun. Could it be that co-incidentally I have got the wicking right at the point I've changed coil type. ???
Any thoughts? Would love to be able to use spaced coils and 24g in the Kayfun - less gunking from my beloved nets.
Perhaps try a spaced 26.

UPDATE (10/30/16):I've been able to resolve all leaking issues with my two K5s by replacing o-rings:
1. Seeping from Bottom: Both had this issue. Replaced the two bottom o-rings (AFC and the little one at the very bottom) and tighten the hex nut. Both dry as a bone ever since.
2. Seeping from AFC Slots: Only one had this issue. Replaced the JFC o-ring and it's been dry as a bone ever since. I knew this wasn't a wicking issue since the builds/wicks on both were virtually identical.
Be sure the replacement rings are lubed (I use olive oil).
It's a tad disappointing to have to swap out o-rings on a $100+ Svoemesto, but glad I found a fix that works.
Hi,Hi All,
I recently got a kf5 and I have had nothing but flavourless vapour from day one and I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.
I have tried every type of coil and wire awg, rayon and cotton wicks, small wicks and big wicks, different juices to no avail.
I must have done 50 builds but no dice. I followed Quroxstans video to a tee but still nothing.
When I try another tank I get full flavour.
Any advice as I'm on the verge of packing it in and selling.
It is an authentic tank.
Thanks.

I have very similar experience. Sometimes it leaks and sometimes it doesn't. Their is something wrong but I can't know what exactly. Again, this is when you lay it down and go from cold to heat or vice verse. If you don't lay it down much, it will never leaks.UPDATE (10/30/16):
The fix for seeping from AFC slots (#2. above) continues to hold on my #2 K5, but recently my #1 K5 started seeping. I've replaced the JFC rings twice and it's still seeping. Will try another ring, but this is getting to be a real P.I.T.A. Great vape, but can't take it anywhere!
Any tank will leak if when you lay it down the juice holes get exposed. When that happens, there is no way to maintain vacuum/pressure. I guess having the juice flow holes all the way to the outer edge of the inside of the tank is a drawback because it will easily relieve the vacuum but the best fix for that is....I have very similar experience. I think I may have found the problem: There are two similar o-rings in the spare kit- one is slightly smaller in diameter than the other. On my last two JFC o-ring replacements I used the slightly larger ring. I noticed that there were some stiff spots in the turning radius when adjusting. This time I used the slightly smaller diameter ring, and the JFC now turns smoothly as it should. I suspect that the larger diameter rings I had tried are actually intended for the AFC. I'll report back in a few days to let everyone know if I'm still leak free.UPDATE (10/30/16):

OK, That didn't take long. Just a few hours and it's seeping from the air slots again with the new (smaller) o-ring. Running out of ideas here. It's strange- this K5 was leak-free for months on the original JFC ring.I think I may have found the problem: There are two similar o-rings in the spare kit- one is slightly smaller in diameter than the other. Hi Tomasius. Welcome. You'll want to experiment with your builds. I'd recommend you start with a 28 gauge, 7-8 wraps around a 2.5mm diameter mandrel. Spacing or not spacing doesn't really matter. I have no spacing on mine (as do most people). 10-14 watts is a good range to start with for a cooler vape. If you find it takes too long to heat up then try 30 gauge. It's thinner wire and ramps up quicker. 28 gauge wire is heavtier so it doesn't deform as quickly as 30 gauge. Makes rewicking easier. Depending on the liquid I would rewick around every 10 mls and adjust from there.Hi, I've been following this thread and just received the Kayfun Five. I've already bought a couple of minis v3 which are my first RBA's (actually I started vaping about 3 months ago).
I wanted to ask you guys some questions,
1. Can you recommend a basic coil to be used with K5, I have kanthal A1 (30, 28 and 26) (guess I should use 28 or 26) but don't know if you can recommend the diameter (2.5 or 3mm) of the coil or the number of wraps or if it has to be spaced or not. I don't want a very hot vape so I guess I should stay at 10-14 watt right?
2. I've learned about the absurd deeming rule and since I have found vaping the best way to quit smoking (haven't had a single cigarette for 3 months after being a 2 pack a day smoker) I bought 5 o-ring replacement bags for the K% and the minis, I also bought 4 or 5 glass tanks. But, don't know how often I will have to change the rings
Do you have some experience about the o-ring durability?
Same here. I started with 24g Kanthal 5 wraps at about 1 ohm firing 15 watts, but it took too long to ramp up and it was a bit too warm for me. I now use 28g with 8 wraps (touching) for 1.5 ohms and it's perfect for me at 13w. The build is so easy and consistent time after time that I don't even have to think about it.Hi Tomasius. Welcome. As for the rings, I have older Kayfuns as well and never had to change o-rings. They should last a good long while.
Yeah, seems to be a fairly common build for us cool vapers.Same here.
