Sorry, tail lenghl was just above oring at bottom of build deck
Oring pictured is only used with the extended chimney/bigger tank.Hi, please see pics.
The coil is 2.5mm 5/6 wraps wicked with cotton bacon or prime can't remember which one I used.one side is darker because it lifted a bit for some reason after filling I think. Used this set up most of yesterday evening no probs. Please look at replaced oring . Thanks
No, just though when I cleaned it that I was missing one from there, is there supposed to be oring there. Was looking at the parts pics on this form and looks like there is suppose to be oring at the bottom of threadsOring pictured is only used with the extended chimney/bigger tank.
Are you using the extended prime?
Definitely to much cotton and what's probably happening is the gurgling is because the wick is encroaching around the wire leads and deck edges and making it's way down the af hole. Also the dark wick side is because it's not allowing juice to flow on that side as well as the other. Both tails need to be the same density to allow equal wicking and this dark side is most often the trail side of wick. When you pull wick thru coil, the trail side usually gets condensed more and if you dont compensate, it tends to be more dense. Overall too much cottonHi, please see pics.

Nice set up! I think that's a good idea for those who fall into that categoryI'd like to throw my two cents in the pot regarding drop-in coils... A year or so after I started vaping I ran across the Kayfun 3.1, which I thought at the time and still think now is one of classic industrial designs of all-time. For multiple reasons I thought I could never build and did not buy one. But I did see on FastTech a clone of sorts called a V6 that had a removable deck that allowed one to use Atlantis coils. I bought one, and as you might have guessed, it was a POS.
At 63 I suffer from bad thumbs, shaky hands and not the world's best eyesight, and I can add to that not a ton of free time. However with the thought of one day getting around to it, I have bought a bunch of authentic Kayfuns. I've watched all the videos and one of the members here graciously provided help and physical guides to use in building. So I can do it, I'm just not great and it takes me way more time than it probably takes the rest of you guys.
A couple of three weeks ago I bought a Dani Box Mini. My thought was to put a Prime with extension on it. But when it arrived, I didn't have much time, so a put an authentic Eden Mods Trillium on the Dani. With the Trillium one can use either Atlantis or Nautilus coils, which is nice. The downside is the tank only holds 2mls, and one has to take the tank apart to change either type of coil. So I replaced the Trillium with a Kabuki pretty fast.
Yesterday I finally had some free time and put the Prime on the Dani. I guess I nailed it as I've been through two tanks, the flavor is great, and I've had no leaks.
But were SvoëMesto to make an adapter where one could remove the present deck and replace it with the adapter and an Atlantis or Nautilus coil, for example, then I would have done that on day one. I also think it would boost their sales as there are some folks who will never build. OTOH, since Kayfuns always seem in short supply with most dealers, perhaps SvoëMesto doesn't need the money?
Anyway, here are some shots of my stages with the Dani Mini:

How do I compensate. I feel like I have enough cotton in coil, would you think I need to thin out or dog ear tails.Definitely to much cotton and what's probably happening is the gurgling is because the wick is encroaching around the wire leads and deck edges and making it's way down the af hole. I think this is about as beefy as you want it. First , just try and thread a bit less in coil, but keep the talk lenght you have been doingHow do I compensate. I feel like I have enough cotton in coil, would you think I need to thin out or dog ear tails.
If you simply use a bit less, you should be good, as for the trail side of wick being more dense, start out with a much longer lenght of cotton and when you thread it thru, just dont bring it right to the center of wick, but bring it through just about to the end, then back to the middle. Once you get it back to the center, seat it by then moving it back and forth or left to right like 1/4 inch in both directions a few times then clip tail lenght. Once I have my wick trimmed and ready to go, I actually poke both shoulders to feel the density and if I feel one side is hard and noth the other, I try and trim a bit of bulk to even them outHow do I compensate. I feel like I have enough cotton in coil, would you think I need to thin out or dog ear tails.
Others may have better ideas, but I pull almost the entire length of the wick thru the coil, then pull back to center before trimming ends. Then both sides have been compressed thru the coil at least once. And Kayfuns are kind of finicky on wicking, so they can benefit from combing the ends a little with some sort of pick (sharp tweezer ends, toothpick, needle), to also make both ends more similar. How do I compensate. Ha! Beat me to it! I know you've got a LOT more experience than me Divr - but I'd also have to mention that I found if I slide a wick back and forth too much, I tend to get a little gap that causes more popping. If you simply use a bit less, you should be good, as for the trail side of wick being more dense, start out with a much longer lenght of cotton and when you thread it thru, just dont bring it right to the center of wick, but bring it through just about to the end, then back to the middle. And I think this is it. There are just a few who are getting the profits so they don't mind sacrificing sales to maintain control of their product. Just my guess.
Good point. I actually have slid it back too much and have found myself re fluffing in that areaHa! Beat me to it! Wow, that's a lot of trimming, and surprisingly little wick in the wells. I used to use more than that, but at my pace, didn't need a ton of wick flow. If I get a wild hair and pull out my KM3's, I'll have to try it that way. Those pics should really help others struggling with the Prime. Is that rayon? Here are a few picks of a current build and in the first one I like trimming the undersides a bit, I feel this allows more af, while keeping the wick away from leads or deck, thus not allowing juice to drip down.View attachment 786333 View attachment 786335 View attachment 786337 View attachment 786339 View attachment 786341
Well it is rayon and if I were to use cotton, I probably would use slightly more density in tails. I do run this exact wick in all my rtas and they can run at 70 vg and no issues to at least 25 watts and I never feel hardly any warmth to the tank. Rayon in general likes less tail density then cotton , but it's a fine line for sure. I personally like to hover on that fine line between not having enough in channels where you get seepage to just enough for none.Wow, that's a lot of trimming, and surprisingly little wick in the wells.
