Looking forward to hearing someone talk me into it. Just got the v5 instead, and I'm pretty- make that very- disappointed. No matter what build I've tried, compared to the KM3, it just doesn't give the density of vape. It's kind of like when you smoked a cigarette that broke in your pocket or something. Probably should've gotten the Prime, but now trying to decide between it, Berserker, or Siren.

I love my K5. The Prime, while it steals some stuff from the K5, vapes much closer to the KM3. I think anyone who likes the KM3 will also like the Prime.

Great to hear Bronze...but I've hot to ask: the KM3 and V5 experience for me is so different (and unsatisfactory for me on V5), how do you reconcile the differences? You've mentioned that you really like all 3. How would you describe what you like about each, given that they're pretty different in what each does well? With your kayfun experience, this could be helpful to many.

And keep in mind when reading my comments that the KM3 was my first RTA. If V5 was, IT might be the one I loved! And if the Km3 had screw trapping, I might not even consider a new model.

For starters, I get excellent flavor out of all three. If I didn't, I wouldn't like the atty. Flavor is king in my book. I was primarily using drippers prior to the Mini release (after a long love affair with the Kayfun Lite). But the KM3 was dripper quality so I threw my drippers in the bone box and that's where they've been since. The next thing I look at is airflow. I'm MTL all the way. The K5 was trying to be all things to all vapers when it came to airflow. Sorry Svoemesto, it wasn't. It was way too airy even at the lowest air setting. They had to release their MTL kit which reduced the airflow passage. It worked. The airflow on the K5 is the smoothest I have ever experienced from any atomizer. I know some like to see attys dedicated to either MTL or DTL but as far as I'm concerned the K5 does both well. Just need the MTL kit if you're a MTL. The Mini airflow is just fine too. Some don't like that you have to take it apart to adjust the airflow (as opposed to the K5 and Prime). Didn't bother me one bit. I set the air once and never have to go back so it doesn't matter if it is inconvenient to adjust. The airflow on the Prime is similar to the Mini...just adjustable from the exterior. The decks on the Prime and Mini are similar too. Small to be sure but doable. The K5 build is a little trickier. You have to put shoulders on your wick or it's gonna seep juice out the airway. The wick has to be as far to the outside as it can get. Keep it as far away from that center air hole as possible. Once you get it figured out, building the K5 is a cinch because of all the room compared to the Mini or Prime. As with all SM products, they're high quality. All of their atomizers are high quality. I preferred the Mini over the K5 for the very simple reason that I was trending to smaller gear. I just like the portability of smaller vape gear. So I have smaller mods and used the smaller KM3 on them. That said, I started using TC so I was using my K5 for that. No special reason, just happened to be what I started with and it stuck (till the Prime). While the KM3 is smaller than the K5 (the K5 is 22mm, the Mini is 19mm) it was still too tall for my small, JAC DNA75. I really wanted something shorter. The Prime was the answer. Has all the excellent qualities of the K5 and Mini but is shorter. Fits my JAC DNA75 perfectly. For now, I use the Prime on my JAC DNA75 and the Mini on my Radius.

I can't say why the K5 doesn't work for you. Everyone is different. The K5 elicits a wide range of opinion. The K4 did as well. If you're trying to evaluate the Prime, I think it takes the best attributes of the K5 and Mini and combines them. Excellent flavor, excellent air flow, excellent size (small), excellent quality.

You might want to try the MTL kit before getting a Berserker or Siren.

If you are use to the km3 and bought the 5 without reducer kit, it's definitely going to feel airy. ..with the reducer, you can obtain an equal draw to the mini....with that said however, even though I have the k5 with reducer and have been vaping the mini since it came out, I personally find the mini better. I find flavor , TH, and overall find it a warmer vape and believe it's because of the smaller chamber. I love TH and a warmer vape, it's just as important then flavor for me and because of the massive size of the 5, I just feel it's a bit cooler overall.....I'm sure I could compensate a build in the 5 to get it closer, but I just find it a bit to heavy , so I don't use it much tbh....however once they release the tpd compliant kit for the 5, I will be giving it another go, and see if I can heat things up a bit.....

Yeah, I don't believe it's the draw, per se. On the lowest setting, the K5 has a similar (but different) feeling draw to the KM3. And a reducer may help a little. But like you, I believe it comes down to chamber size. I'm no engineer, but common sense seems to indicate that the air flow rate won't have as much impact on the density of vapor as chamber size. And for me, it's the density that's lacking.

Of course, that's the calling card of Prime. I guess I just need to find out if it's too restricted for me after getting used to KM3 with AF screw removed.

I vape the km3 wide open pretty much (no need to remove the km3 screw because once the screw is adjusted about 3/4 open, opening it any further or removing it doesn't do anything more to increase flow ) and although the prime is a little more closed, I feel at its most open position its in the same ball park and is something that I got use to kind of quickly . Personally I feel if you like the km3, you will love the prime....

Any word to how the Prime works in temp control? Possible to fit a 8 wrap 26 gauge SS316L coil in it? That's what i'm using in my Kayfun 5, and love it. Just worried that it wouldn't fit in the Prime.
I use a 26 ga., 316L, 7 wrap, 2.0 mm dia. in my Prime and it fits nicely. One more wrap wont hurt it. Works perfect with TC at 430 degrees.

I agree with you that the chamber might impact flavor and quality of density a lot. Eventhough IMO the outer AFC, position and size of airhole(s), coil(s)/wick, energy/heat, juice/jfc, chamber-shape and -size, chimney-diameter and -length and the driptip all contribute.

Airhole(s) (no matter how often i type that word, it always feels like i'm mistyping '.......s') can be restricted, like the K5 MTL kit does. The speed, amount and direction of air should be exactly right the moment it passes the coil(s) and reaches the chamber. But that's not the case with the K5 MTL kit, can't really explain why. It's not that bad, but i personally get the best flavor off the K5 without using the MTL kit, vaping it as a very restricted DL tank, outer AFC at 4 dots, at .5 Ohm and 20 W, and only with tobacco flavors BTW. All other flavors taste harsh.

Take for instance the ESG Skyline's airdisks: control the airholes anyway you like. Then adjust the outer AFC accordingly. But no matter how i built it, only a .4 flapton at 28W eventually gave me good flavor, without any airdisk, outer AFC full open. Restricted DL again.

I'm also curious about the new Augvape Merlin MTL: screw-adjustable airflow right inside the posts, combined with optional AF restrictors inside the bottom airhole. Can't believe it's a real MTL tank though:

I've only recently gotten into MTL vaping, but so far i only liked the KM3, Rose V2 and the Digiflavor Siren, out of 10+ supposedly MTL tanks. Might try the Prime.

here is a video I just put together on the prime. hopefully it doesn't bore you at 30 minutes in length..

Awesome! I got out of bed so I could watch it on my laptop. Thanks Diver for doing this. I know a lot of effort goes into prepping, filming and editing these videos. I appreciate it. I'll ask Lori to get it posted in the OP.

Thought you were a DFer? What's with the Sludge?

DF is still my favorite, but little by little I have been trying testers of different juices when placing my orders. A few months back I tried sludge and I really like it and is in my rotation now...I didn't mean sludge was the best juice on the planet, I meant HHV was and I don't think I will ever find a better flavor then DF......thanks for the watch and kind words.....

Well I placed my order for the Prime last night. Just excited for it to get here. I pre-ordered the Siren v2 24mm back at the end of Aug, but I'm sick of waiting on it. Seems like it keep getting delayed. grrrrrr But enough of that, i'm excited to have the Prime in my hands.

I'm sure you will like it. Give us a report after you've had a chance to use it.

Well done, thank you for doing it. Been watching this thread and considering the Prime to go with our JACs.
